It hasn't been confirmed, but they will be well aware there are many people in the situation of wanting more than they can afford in one payment and would be foolish to not allow people to pay for that in the months following the KS. The only reason they havent officially confirmed is because they want to see the campaign funding go as high as possible... for various reasons that will be beneficial to them.

If possible at least try and get in at the pledge level you want to be at

as even though I suspect we'll be able to add more stuff, I'm a lot less convinved we'll be able to move between pledge levels

For what it's worth, we were NOT able to switch levels last time around.

I so desperately wanted to go from base game to survivor but was never able to, despite a whole lot of messaging and emails both during and after the campaign ended.

So I agree with the sentiment of pledge what you actually can afford to now.

Yeah I'm in at silver lantern but I want to basically buy all the expansions for this ks only (no pinups or any of that faff) and so I guess that this is the best level to be at ( unless I've missed something dumb)?

I suggest you total up your costs for what you want and see how close you are to one of the other pledges that include everything, like the gambler's or satans levels. If you're within $100 you may want to consider getting the higher pledge level and just ebaying stuff you don't want. You may come out ahead.

Adam has said there will likely be Gamer's Lantern pledges but not till the last few days so they can be priced out based on what's going into them, i.e. after all the unplanned stuff is figured out and added.

They won't be as good savings, percentage-wise, as the Gambler, Satan, or Frogdog levels, but you also won't be paying for the relatively extraneous pinups and promos.

So the game and expansions only? That's kinda what I'd be after, price depending.

That's the idea, yeah. It will likely be a modest discount compared to grabbing them all a la carte, and more of a convenience thing for pledging and picking/shipping, but he has said it's on the radar.

Yeah I've done this, gamblers plus all 2016 expansions comes in at about $6-700, frogdog is 1k, any of the other earlier ones that Adam pulled would have been ideal. (The $777 one springs to mind)

Also I just don't have the outlay to pay for one of those higher level pledges in one paycheck

@Spiraling Cadaver and others:

Thanks for the info! And sorry for the late reply, holiday traveling etc.
So Dragon King definitely, and maybe Gorm. What about the Screaming Antelope? I have seen a lot of people having played that; is it a good one, or sort of pointless? Does it tie in with the Ram or god versions of the nightmare ungulates?

Antelope is part of the core- no need to buy!

Im a big fan of huntin it as it plays way different from the lion, and if you can manage to crit a bunch, it drops extra stuff!

Screaming Antelope is one of the base game monsters. I don't have the Lion God, but it seems like both "gods" are the same basic idea - ancient versions of one of the regular monsters which have grown and mutated after being infected with some sort of parasite.

Wherkind, sure!

Re: the antelope, yeah, it's in the core and doesn't get a lot of love, so is seeing an update (I actually like it already).

I'm expecting the ram to be roughly the equivalent in the now-announced parallel campaign, if no a bit harder. Probably no interaction.

The White Lion and Lion God were originally intended to have interactions, but didn't other than a little gear that kinda' goes together, and I assume it'll be similar in this set, that they're basically unrelated. I wouldn't get the screaming god because it appears so late in the campaign that you won't get a lot of opportunities to fight it, and unlike a number of the other big late fights, it doesn't come with a campaign variant- on a budget, that's a formula for a pass IMHO.

As I understand the Screaming God update, actually, it does seem to be intended to include a minor variant campaign if you also grab the First Hero expansion (which is the biggest must have expansion of the new ones, in my opinion). It starts you off at a high lantern year level explicitly focusing on hunting the Screaming God and the Parasite Queen. If you're hoping to get a lot of mileage out of the First Hero expac, the Screaming God expac sounds pretty solid IMO.

Oh, hadn't noticed/remembered that. That's a nice bonus, but still think it's a fairly low priority.

Oh, that makes sense then why I kept seeing Screaming Nope-a-lopes all over the blogs

Thanks again. I think I will go with Dragon King and something else, then just grab some of the others later, when I have more time and money.

Yeah, think the DK is fantastic. Then I'd suggest whichever quarry (huntable, rather than nemeses which are like bosses) that looks best, preferably one that appears under year 8 if you need a deciding factor.

I'm confused about the Inverted Mounted.

Is this part of the bigger world or is this a string of micro adventures? Paraiah and the FrogDog + something else, but I forget what it is.

I like the Pariah but I don't like FrogDog. If it's part of the chain then that's unfortunate.

Everything except (I believe):
the campaign expansion
the promos
the screaming god
the first hero or w/e
the gambler's chest

are standalone expansions that are also intended to form the mountain campaign if combined with the mountain man.

What's unclear is whether, like the core campaign, the vast majority is basically modular and replaceable, or if it's like the dragon campaign (which specifically limits content, but does so basically unnecessary) or the sunstalker campaign (technically flexible but all the special unlocks are based on the core quarries being huntable and a lot of content is actually detrimental).

KD:M is a dark boardgame, so if you're looking for a roleplaying game, stick with the roleplaying games.

Any thoughts on when or if he'll announce how the PM will work?

And, if he doesn't, or if he says 'no adding on in the PM' (highly unlikely), would this cause a serious backslide in funding?

Most (myself included) expect there'll be at least one opportunity, since he needs to set up both a way of managing add-ons and additionally pay for shipping, so why wouldn't he?

I'm going to pledge for everything I think is essential to be safe, skip the stuff I'm on the fence for and maybe spring for it if it's in the PM.

My current plan is the 750 pledge to get all current expansions, then PM for the new expansions.

I'm thinking of dropping my upgrade pledge, I'm just not feeling the hype or the confidence like the first time around.

I initially had this exact reaction, now I'm of the opposite tune. I really had no plans to back this, as I thought how he handled the first one was rather poor in a lot of ways. He still puts out a great boardgame product, that provides hours of entertainment, so I'm going in for the upgrade and all in on the new expansions....

I understand you though, for sure.

Yeah, I'm definitely not very excited either, BrookM. There are a number of nice things (I'm thinking I'll be dropping $3-400: $200 on the big update bundle, then at least 2 and possibly a couple more expansions), but I definitely am not on the "OMG, try to squeeze everything possible into this awesome game [etc.]" on this one. I think it's because $15-45 per expansion on the first one was almost too good a deal to pass up (even before the material upgrade), while $40+, and a $400 campaign, takes much more thought.

I'm only in it for the upgraded rulebook and whatever else is supposed to go with it, but to me this is such a mess that I'm not really seeing the changes and whatnot that apply to this pledge. Could be me though..
