Brilliant! Damn wish I had thought of this! This model screams Inquisitor at me. I think that some more purity seals and reliquary type eclectic boxes and bits round his waste would help blend in the scroll hanging at the front. It looks a little tacked on at the moment. Brilliant use of the priest totally transformed the model into something else.

Oh and a tiny bit more filing above his right foot - I can still make out a Sigmarite comet. Is there a mold line running along the rebreather pipe?

Oh any chance of a rear shot?

Thanks for the feedback! I've already actually made some changes to him which I will hopefully post tomorrow if I've managed to get a new lamp I'm sculpting a sash on him where he will have his finest purity seals on it. Also removed the text scroll on the waist and made one of greenstuff that fits much better.

Finished painting my inquisitor Leader today! Went for a really dark and matt theme. Basically I think he looks like the Grey Knights should have looked, also I'm very pleased with his face.

Here's an update on the ex-marine. Just some filing left and he's almost done.

Loving the paint on the Inquisitor's armor. Very nice job!

Any chance you'll be writing up some background fluff for the ex-marine (as well as the rest of the warband) at some point? I always enjoy reading the histories for the characters we see on here

The inquisitor looks great! I like the subdued colors. I'm very interested in how this ex-marine is going to look and it is just a great idea anyway. An ex-marine is just unheard of and I think it is great for you to make one.

I would actually really like to come up with some background stuff but I think I lack enough background information about the 40k universe to make it good, but we'll see

So many things to do so little time

Here's an update for today. I have now painted my ex-marine, partially inspired by Tychus Findlay from the starcraft series.

Here's a group shoot of the inquisitors so far so you get a feel for the overall theme.

Here's an update on the "warrior-priest" conversion. I've added a sash which I've stuck purity seals and medals on. And as requested a backshot of him.

What an awesome thread! Good thing Peter ran a little advertising for you over at the Ammobunker

Anyway, great stuff so far! Although I have to say that your Inquisitor - while a great model - actually looks less like an Inquisitor and more like a Crusader-type. And the "Kharn the Betrayer" backpack on your ex-Marine (very cool concept, btw) makes him look a little more chaosy than strictly necessary

Oh, and the redesign on the warrior priest is indeed fantastic, although, personally speaking, I'd stop adding more stuff to the model about now.

Anyway, looking forward to your next update! Subscribed!

Thanks for the comments!

Regarding the "grey knight" model I will probably stick some kind of "crusader-label" on him instead. I intend to use my "warrior-priest" as my Inquisitor for the warband, now I just have to come up with a name...

Beautiful! The crusader is looking great, the red and grey really mix well. That warrior priest just screams of awesome!
The book on the warrior priest's back however feels like a little too much, feels like theres too much going on on the model with it.

Been a busy week at work! Here are some small updates on some mutants I've made.

The first one is based on a ghoul. I changed the pose and slapped on some more muscles. Also added a pair of "power claws". I think og him as a cyborg version of Gollum from LoTR

The second mutant is a very early WIP.

Also tomorrow I'm planning on painting my Inquisitor(the warrior priest conversion. I've also came up with a name for him, "Inquisitor Grimheim".

Hmm I need some feedback and ideas.

Basically I've decided to do 5 members of each of the gangs.

The inquisitor warband is now completed and I've chosen Inquisitor Grimheim, the "ex-marine", the servitor, the crusader and the wraith. I feel these 5 miniatures look very well together.

For the mutant gang I've chosen the nurgle lord conversion, subject A7(the guy with the big claws), the guy with the flamer and the ghoul with the claws sitting on the pillar. I now need a last miniature for the mutants but the last conversion I did didn't really fit the rest. Anyone got a suggestion/idea what type of member I could complement the rest of the mutants with?

I really like that last guy, the mutant with the club. He looks quite similar to my enslaved eldar.

I am not sold on the name Grimheim - because everything is already 'grim dark' including the word grim almost seems like parody. An over the top name works for inquisitors as they are probably from an old family with an archaic name, or they changed their name to something dramatic upon gaining position.

How about a small psyker type in that other warband? You already have a giant and serveral quite imposing hand to hand models. Some sort of physically weak model might fit the bill?

I actually named him Grimheim after an old character I had in a RPG game But also had one named Helheim, so maybe that could work?

The issue with the last mutant I made is that when I put him together with the 4 other miniatures it just looks like he's another smaller scale. The converted plaguebearer with the flamer looks like a standard human and the last one just looks like a midget enxt to him. Maybe I could elongate his waist a bit and lengthen his arms?

I'd say leave him short. As long as his weapons and equipment are similarly scaled to everyone else in the group, he should fit in fine.

Looks good to me. His pose is spot on. Really like the rebreather.

Two things i would suggest is trying to tone down the purity seals. In the picture it looks quite yellow. Perhaps adding a couple of thin white glazes to the parchment. The other thing is maybe adding some colour to the metal shoulder pad.

I think a weak psyker would look good in the mutie gang. The power behind the throne so to speak.

The Inquisitor's a stunning model, Karokk! Great job!

I agree with Peter about the metal shoulderpad. That would also be a great location for one of the small =][= decals from the Sororitas decal sheet. Just sayin'...

Plus I would add a black spot (or some black wash) to the tip of the gun to at least suggest an opening in the barrel.

By colour I meant something like the below model rather than a decal...but a decal would look good too.

Spoiler:

Adding some colour towards the bottom of the pad would look cool.

Here is a pretty high end technique at is pretty cool but time consuming.

Finally weekend! Have been busy today with converting, painting and doing scenery!

My Inquisitor is now finished, also added a backshot!

I've redone the "little" mutant, he now looks good next to the others, this is a very early WIP and got lots of green stuff work left to do. I think he will looks awesome though. So far he is my favourite conversion, hope my vision of him will be as good as the end result!

Here's an early WIP of the "base" I'm making for the two gangs. In the crackled ground there will be green sludge running from the pipe. Will add some ruined buildings also and other things.

Here's a small update for today. I've been browsing the JB artbook and really wanted an enforcer type of character. Here is a very early WIP of my enforcer.

The Inquisitor is cool.

The scenery is off to a great startl. I want to see this finished and a battle report between the Inquisition and the Mutants...obviously using the Inquisitor rules. How big is the board BTW?

The board is something like 35cmx25 cm, basically it fits in my "showcase" bookshelf. But the good thing about it is that I got tons of similiar material so technically I could make several of them and put them together

Been working on the scenery the last few days. This is my first piece of 40k terrain ever and so far I think it looks good.
