Fix'd, and holy moly do I have to agree! Now that's a lady you wouldn't want to mess with, especially if she's now a giant battlesuit!

In game, what rules will you use? Will you just make some up?

Im actully planing on selling it once it's finished so wont be useing it myself, but for anyone who wanted to use it in game I know that people have created their own rules for custom or scratch bulit models, and im not sure about the latest set of rules, but in the past you could create your own models rules and states as long as the model followed the WYSIWYG rules (what you see is what you get) meaning that whatever the models abilites where they had to be shown on the model, for example if your model rules says he has a twin linked railgun then your model must be carrying a twin linked railgun. All these rules are farely loose though, because at the end of the day its really up to the players and you oppnent on weather its fair and balanced enough to include in a game.

Work is still progressing on the Battlesuit only at quite a slow pace, mainly due to the fact that im running out of parts.
I think a trip to eBay is required to scavenge more tau bits and pieces.

For now here's a few more pics of what I have managed to do, Including detail work on the left arm and hand, adding a seeker missile launcher,
and a missile re-loader in the back.

Eventually it will also stock 6 to 8 gun drones stored in a docking rack on its back, which I still have to be build.
I will try to keep these updates as regular as I can so enjoy the pics, and I hope to have more to show you soon.

No knew pics yet im afraid, as im still waiting for a batch of new bits and pieces to arrive, which will allow me to finally get this Battlesuit finished.

While I wait I've been thinking about what to call it, I know the Tau have a system when it comes to naming battlesuits, but I havnet yet decided on one, so if anyone has any suggestions please let us know.

Well considering the numbers on a battlesuit denote mass class and field operational role i'd figure this would be a XV91 battlesuit. '9' being Titan class and '1' being prototype. That's what i'd call in at any rate.

The titan looks great by the way!

holy....*trails off with garbled, unrecognizable words*

Dude, i thought i was getting good with plasticard but HOLY CRAP you are SHUNNING what i can do to hell and back lol. Though you are using a different kind of plasticard than i do, thats a major one, whats that stuff specifically called/where do you get it because i like that better than mine (mine is like paper-thin, a little reflective, smooth, and bout cardboard durability)

i cant wait to see the finished model. Painting that is gonna be a nightmare though with all that detail.

First off this is absolutely brilliant! You have captured the Tauesque design perfectly, the torso is where people get it wrong but some how you have executed it in a truly beautiful way.

On a slightly different note....

The plastic card I use dosent have any special name that I know of, and I get it from one of my local model shops.
The type I use comes in many thicknesses, shapes and size's, and if you cant find it at any model, hobby or craft shop then you can buy it online, I've even seen it for sale on ebay.

And your right about painting it, which is why im pleased i wont have to, as once it's finished it'll be undercoated and then put up for sale.
Hopefully someone with better painting skills than me will give it a go.

I've found a few lists online regarding Tau Battlesuit designations, Here's one for example:

Her’ex’vre is a Tau term, meaning “Mantle of the Hero.” It is used by the Tau to designate their single-pilot battlesuits. Imperial authorities have transcribed the Tau word, Her’ex’vre, phonetically as “XV,” and thus use this designation to identify the most common, single-pilot suit. In addition to this, two other identifiers are used to classify specific variations. These break down into two other identifiers:

1.) Mass Class

A suits' mass is measured on a scale of 1 to 8. 1 indicates the lightest of suits, while 8 identifies the largest variants so far encountered by the Imperium.

2.) Construction Variation

Suits with a specific, confirmed function have a second designator, while what the Imperium considers “utility” suits have only a single (mass class) numeral. Here the word "utility" seems to indicate suits that are not regulated to a specific battlefield role. In other words, suits that are flexible in their use.

Quote:
The following roles have been identified and each assigned a numeric code by Imperial authorities. This number is the second element of the suit’s class designation. Note that it is possible that a suit might have a secondary role, in which case a third numeral may be included in its designation.

1 - Suits believed to exist only as theoretical or developmental models.

2 - Developmental suits that have progressed to field trials.

3 - Suits that have not entered mass production but have been assigned permanently to the pilot.

4 - Suits designed and approved for the command and control role.

5 - Suits intended use in the ‘stealth’ role.

6 – Suits that operate in an air/space environment.

7 - Suits intended to facilitate infiltration.

8 - Fire support units.

Examples:

XV-8 - single pilot heavy utility class
XV-88 - single pilot heavy fire support unit
XV-15 - single pilot ultra light stealth suit
XV–25 - single pilot light stealth suit
XV-22 - field test prototype light stealth suit

There's a lot of variation around where new models and new rules have been released, but I've come up with a rough designation for my battlesuit: XV98-02.

The 9 stands for it's mass
The 8 for its battlefield role or armament
and the 2 is for a battlesuit prototype thats ready for field testing.

i'd just call it the XV-FU because thats what its gonna do to the enemy lol.

I might be able to find some of that card in the same place i found my pipes i use, its an insanely huge art store but bout half of it looks like open storage rather than part of the store so its hard to look around lol.

EDIT: And i could never part with something that epic i built, cant believe youre gonna sell that!

I believe the hazard suit already has mass class 9 covered. (although I thought tau used a base-8 number system, but I suppose those are imperial designations)

Maybe it's time to go into double digits here. Perhaps XV-121 (mass class 12 (or 10 in base-8, your choice)), experimental-type.

This superheavy is fantastic, mainly for 2 reasons:
1) It's a fantastic execution, looks great, really fits the Tau aesthetic, and has great detail.
2) It's the first Tau titan I've seen that isn't either an a) gundam toy with a railgun or b) a devilfish with crudely-made legs on it

I showed this thread to a coworker of mine who is an avid Tau enthusiast and I swear he had a bruise on his chin from how fast his jaw hit the ground. I believe he may have also attempted to launch his wallet at the monitor.

Can't say I blame him. This is amazing work, you've created something so far beyond what I could have imagined and it just looks awesome. I really, truly, cannot wait to see the finished product with full paint.

That's one of the best comments I've had yet, thank you. I actually wont be painting it myself as I don't poses the painting talent required for something like this.
Which is one of the reasons why i'm planning to sell it once its finished, It'll be undercoated then put up for sale, hopefully someone else can give it the paint job it deserves.

Someone has this kind of craftsmanship skills and cant paint? Thats a new one to me. Im no professional painter by any means but atleast i can do better than "tabletop quality" that tourny's want.
This would still give me a headache trying to paint though lol. Please tell me this things arms come off though, if it was hardfixed in that pose i would be so pissed when trying to paint it lol. Would still be damn happy after it was finished though since that is one unique as hell model and very well done.

Whoever the hell buys this and paints it better damn well post pics!!!!

My painting skills aren't that bad i suppose, I've painted several armies to a reasonable standard, I'm just a bit of a perfectionist and i always think i can do better.
But it is something i'm working on, I just need more practice, plus I've always enjoyed building stuff more than painting it.

The arms are fixed into position and cant be removed, but I have tried to design it so it's not too difficult to paint, as the torso is magnetic and detaches from the legs and the legs detach from the base.
The front canopy is also magnetic allowing you to see the pilot, who isn't fixed in allowing him to be painted separately.

And yes whoever buys and paints it, I will make sure to get finished pics from them as I'm keen to see it finished as well.

Here are a few quick pics of early work on the Drone docking rack that will be fixed to Battlesuits Back, plus my scratch built Tank Wreck which is part of the base detail.
