Ah that is the magical key.

Also, it has been brought to my attention that XyCraft Quartz Crystals now have the same properties as Cactus. If you walk into it, you get hurt, but more importantly if you're mining some ore near a quartz crystal and the ore item drop hits the quartz, it is destroyed (just like throwing items at a cactus). So be sure to break any Quartz crystals that are near any precious ores (or anywhere near where items may drop).
At least Quartz Crystals have some crafting uses now.
I've done that trade, Xeriapt. The Diamond Chest it was in got blown up by a creeper :( Do you want another one?

After searching around for a bit, I've got to ask:
Where is the magic room at spawn? I can't seem to find it.
Update on Ultimate. I've found a seed that's good, but having trouble with the Mystcraft ages, despite writing them very carefully they keep generating as void ages or other complete randomness, not good. Ran out of time last night to keep trying, will try some other stuff tonight.
I see GregTech difficult recipes are on by default. Turn them back to easy? I'm 50/50 on "Why should they be difficult when Pulverisers aren't?" and "Just try the GregTech recipes, it encourages playing differently". Anyone want to share their opinions? Please give reasons etc, as that gives better discussion than just: "NO! Gregtech recipes bad!"
you can make pulverisers expensive in thermal expansion config for balancing
I'm mainly curious having not tried it yet. I see lots of complaints about the recipe changes, and I don't see them being used very much in various LP videos etc. So the only thing really stopping me from just turning off the hard recipes is the wondering why they are on by default for Ultimate in the first place?
To be honest, I like the challenge that gregtech gives, and since you can replace most of the machines in it with TE and the like, I see no reason to disable the changes. If you really want to use IC2, just transfer things across. Simple.
Tl;Dr:make machines you want NOW. Ender chests aren't that hard to make
Can you not have both in? IC2 for people who just want to play AND the gregtech recipes for people who want a challenge?

I would not even bother with the IC recipes if gregtechs installed. Im not a massive fan of IC or Buildcraft stuff, I just use them to speed up some of the processes I hate doing, i.e mining and cooking up materials. The thought of having to go through even more steps to make anything would put me off completely.

Yes. I'm not going to be removing Gregtech at all (the extra ore and machines it adds). However, Gregtech changes the recipes for the basic IC2 machines (macerator, drill etc) to be much more difficult (requiring diamonds, logic gates, steel etc). From what I've heard, this is because the developer thinks IC2 recipes are too easy.
Mass Fabricators are disabled (by default)
IridiumPlates, Quarries, Lasers. Macerators. NanoSabers, Drills, Solar Panels, Windmills, Watermills, RollingMachines all require more advanced recipies to make.
Things like tin cells only craft 4 instead of 16.
And a few other changes which I'm sure someone will point out.
So that's what the deal is and why some people are against it (or at least the recipes, not the whole mod).
I understand that, but is there no way at all that both recipes can be in?
As far along as FTB is I'd be surprised if nobody has come up with a way of having both the IC2 and the Gregtech recipes able to be crafted. Issues between a lot of other mods have been fixed, but nobody thought to have a way for people who want a challenge to go the gregtech route and people who don't, to go the regular IC2 route on the same server.

Well, I could turn off the hard recipes, and then those who still want the GregTech Experience could craft them using the easy recipes and then go throw some diamonds and logic gates into a fire....
But I don't know if that still has the same feel...

If we can keep the higher machines (such as the fusion reactor) from gregtech without the bs "hardmode" changes to the normal IC2 gak then I think we should keep it.

Agreed, keep gregtech recipes, the easy recipes is one of my big dislikes of IC2 and me and matapata are doing a project science-side so I'd love an advanced experience.

Although I think I start to see a majority opinion on the GregTech recipes, I might see if I can set up a simple vote thing. Yarp/Narp.
Update on the Ultimate Server: I've resolved the problem with the Mystcraft ages I was having, tomorrow evening I'll start to put everything together, but I doubt I'll get it all done in one evening. I'm still sticking to my predicted "some time at the weekend" for the server to be available.

Actually I would like to have a quarry in the mining world when it is setup. Which I WAS TRYING to get but. So that way I can build my mansion quickly. Seeing as I am the firelord. I will employ someone to do it.
I've been practicing thaumcraft stuff (like golems and nodes combining which i've master by now)
