May I tap into that resource then? You'd get access to the Lab of Horrors (WIP Title).

Heck, perhaps I can automate the spell casting system? Use a Redpower to fill the crucible, Buildcraft to dump in the flesh/brains, and more Redpower to cast the spell (replacing the wand if I need to (Do they run out of juice?). If I time it all with a simple redstone circuit (perhaps flip-flops to count how many times the wand has been used), then I've got a machine that can control evil!

Yea I believe it was me who said that in a server wide out-break the triarii would have a call-to-arms to combat the zombies.
Also I'm going to start out-lining some things for the triarii flux control;
1. Me, anvil or storm will visit your home and do a flux test, we will then out line what is causing the bad flux (if any) and give a recommendation to fix it, don't expect us to clean it away, we help those who help them selves.
2. If your attempting something like what Dr.What is trying, it would be best if some one who has a very good knowledge of the workings of nodes, to check up every so often, to see how it's going and to see your defences, making sure the area is safe.
Is this ok guys? Of course we'd only vist if your online, bit the main reason I'm doing this is due to the massive amount of flux and lack of aura server-wide.

Bluh. Every time I think Iv'e saved up enough to upgrade my computer something else comes up that I NEED to spend my money on instead of merely want. So it looks like I won't be joining FtB for a few months at least, if not longer :/

Im sure Ill figure out how to fix the aura eventually, I have fire resist armour so the lightning isnt too much of a worry.

Bear in mind that the negative weather effects caused by Thaumcraft are server wide.

So rain storms / thunder in clear weather etc effect the whole server not just your place.

This can annoy other players on the server, can negatively impact things that depend on clear weather (solar panels, bees etc) and at worst, can cause fires that would otherwise be put out by rain.

If you are wanting to intentionally create flux on a long term scale, do it in a single player game.

Thaumcraft is limited by Minecraft's weather mechanics ("weather" - rain & snow - is either on or off, not regional).

Also Thaumcraft's aura node network is rather buggy. Two nodes have already disappeared near my place. I think one is missing near spawn too.

If deliberate abuse of the nodes causes too many to disappear, I can hit a flag in the config to re-generate all nodes, but I'm pretty sure this deletes all nodes created by player planted silverwood trees in the process.

I would rather not have all my hard work into making a very powerful pure node go to waste.....
Also is anyone willing to give me a silverwood sapling. (for a trade of course) I will meet you at spawn today when I can. Considering I need to purify a dark node that is right next to my fortress in the cave age. (Hence why I am currently trying to purify it. It is 450 vis. Combine that with a pure node and I got one of the most overpowered pure nodes on the server.)

Also the flux problem is not being caused by me as I currently have no flux in my area. I also am planning on making several more crystal capicators to increase the power of my area. Which is a very good investment to ensure flux does not increase dramatically. It also helps create many many clean areas. I suggest for the person deciding to make zombies to do it in the cave age.Go to somewhere very secluded, and start your experiments there. That way none of the server is effected by the flux problem.

I dont log in very often but the nodes near my place have been on high/dangerous for ages, one of the main nodes is in a barrow though so wisps and things were already popping up.

I'm pretty sure the dark nodes there slowly spread flux as well.

I'm not so sure. But I will check it out, the only way I can purify a node is if I have silverwood saplings. Creating pure nodes helps destroy the flux.

Also flux does not go down unless you have a pure node, or pure bees. Both of which are very effective. I suggest we create pure bees in dangerous areas so that we can clean out the nodes. (Also would help out alot with the problems in the area and clean up the flux.

Barrow hills are dangerous, do not go near them or live in them they will constantly spew out bad things, its better to avoid them all together unless you are trying to combine both a dark node and a pure node (must have alot of vis in order to do this....)

Incorrect. Flux goes down every time a flux event occurs (such as spawning a wisp, thunderstorm, zombie, status effect etc). However, the unstable/dark/vortex nodes also generate flux, so it depends whether flux is being released faster than it is being generated.

What usually causes a place to be stuck with permanent high or dangerous flux is when one of these bad nodes is sitting encased in stone underground. It can't spawn wisps or other entities (only thunderstorms) so the flux can't be released as quickly and it builds up.

The node near me was showing "Dangerous" flux for days, but when I eventually found it (Thaumometer really helps) and dug out the stone blocks around it (and then ran away from the wisps ) it eventually reduced back down to "moderate".

However, I think the bad nodes in barrows are more powerful and probably generate flux too quickly to reduce it in such a passive manner. The bees and pure nodes would help there.

Remember when combining Silverwood nodes- you have to have a more powerful Pure node than the impure one, or else the node will remain impure. So if you're going to attempt to purify a powerful node, you need a more powerful Pure node (lots of silverwood saplings, planted one at a time in the same place or near the resultant node).

Bees are also an option- Some of the Accords are working on those.

But yeah- Crystal Capacitors are a good option to help reduce the Flux in regions where you're using Repair or Charge items a lot- but to charge them, you need to have Crystal Clusters boosting the aura above what the Node provides.

Also, Infused Ore acts as a Vis capacitor- if you can, avoid mining them from the overworld (don't not do it, just don't over mine them).


And certain kinds of Flux overflow are region-specific. The Lightning Strike result is directly on or around the Node that causes it, as is the Large Angry Zombie and Wisps. Weather, however, is server-wide.

There's "Lightning" and "Thunderstorms". Clear-sky lightning is limited to the area directly around the node- that's why we were discussing using it as a power source with a Lightning Rod. But Thunderstorms are caused by a different kind of Flux. Rainstorms are also a different kind.

Aha. See I thought it was server wide because I saw a couple of fires caused by lightning in places that were relatively unoccupied, such as this one. But maybe they were just unlucky enough to be hit by lightning just as the rain stopped.
