Okay, so before class (and before the crash) I completed the following machines:

Generator, Macerator, Extractor, Metal Folder (I think is what it's called; it produces wires and plates from ingots).

Now I need to work on a batbox and solar panels, I think. Thankfully batteries are now one per two tin ingots instead of one per four, so the batbox will be easy. The panels I need to check to see what I need for them...

Yay for being low-tech again. I kind of like the new changes to IC2/3, the metal folder is not as bs as the gregtech version.

Does anyone have a cactus farm set up?

I've figured out for my next build I'll eventually need 5+stacks of cactus, so it would be nice if I could get a good amount of cactus just to get started.

So, I had just finished my second Forestry multi-farm, and was so excited that it planted cotton in the crops slot that I flew up to look at it's glory when the server crashed again. My farm couldn't have caused that could it?

iirc, cotton doesn't work well in multifarms. I tried on the old server and got bupkis. It just doesnt harvest it, or it gets -too- ripe... or whatever,


dunno if it could crash the server or not... Im noticing we seem to be doing this a lot lately, eh?

So I'm gonna need the MFR fruit picker (or a golem setup) then...grrr. Need the cotton for the string, for the enchanted fabric, for the bajillion magic bee frames we're gonna need.

best way to make string is spidery bees. they make them as a side product along with some random comb and spider eyes.

I'm just now getting a regular supply of common bees manually, wearing out even magic frames quicker than I ca replace them. A video said something about hemp for string. Where do I get hemp seeds?

Are there carding panels in the game? Maybe you'd be able to get a sheep farm going and get string from wool?

Or do you need wool? Because an automatic sheep farm is possible- even in Vanilla, now.

Golems harvesting cotton works well I find, there's always the bonus of it not costing resources for them to work also.

Huh, turns out my master plan won't work in this version of monster... damn it!

Shearing a few sheep isn't a big deal, it's the string I use the cotton for. 3 in a row for 1 string, then 4 string and 1 wool for enchanted fabric. Enchanted fabric and 8 sticks for the frame.

Woot! The MultiFarm now works with the cotton using the grain slot of the circuit board! It harvests the entire plant and seperates the seed from the cotton!

Harvesting the entire plant is a waste, though, because then you have to grow the whole thing back again- where if it isn't gone, it'll grow more cotton.

Is Flax in this pack? That makes a good source of string.

Will the server be updating to the latest version without a world reset?

Any update on the lag issue? Last time I was on that server several people were getting lag.

It could totally just be my crappy internet though...

As far as I know it's Steineys reactor explosion that is causing the issue.

Hmm, seems my connection crash issues aren't to do with the server, they're to do with my client. I also crash when Ioad singleplayer worlds... yay

EDIT: I'll see if re-installing the pack will fix it

Stein's reactor shouldnt be causing any issues. Its essentially the same design I was running for weeks. Big Reactors is pretty stable, afaik.

Plus those reactors cant explode.... just run outta fuel!

During the middle of my industrial-sized hobbit-hole renovations, I left a dark corner and a creeper spawned and blew the side of the reactor out when I walked in. Somehow a couple of the rods were still reporting as working even though the casing was broken. I tore it all down and rebuilt it. Eventually the lag subsided. It was bad..very bad. So was my language as I panicked, sorry bout that.

You are forgiven by me, creepers and explosions in general tend to make people have those reactions (I'm actually kind of surprised your language wasn't worse, seeming what it had caused)


EDIT: Speaking of power systems, I've finally gotten around to making mine. currently a small lava set up using an enderthermic pump, dynamic liquid tank, magmatic engines (2, for now) and an Ender IO Capacitor Bank for power storage.
I'm going to have to see is SAG Mills and Alloy Smelters (also from Ender IO) can be used in automatic ore processing, I can't see any reason why they wouldn't.
Next goal is cleaning (read: redoing) my basement and starting my *Massive* cactus farm for a backup supply of power gen (or maybe main... haven't quite decided)
Ender IO is shaping up to be a great mod, I may start using its conduits instead of TE's!

As I said when originally putting the server together, a world reset will almost definitely happen. I set this server up as a temporary one when the FTB Team hadn't communicated anything for weeks and the Unleashed server was empty.

Since starting this server, they've released three further "Beta" versions of Monster, although 1.0.9 still seems to be the "Recommended" Beta version for now. However, in the newer versions they've pushed ATG out and it is now disabled by default. They've changed world gen for Mariculture, Emasher Resource, Chisel and COFHcore (Thermal expansion). COFHcore in particular has had a "Complete Rework of World Gen". They've re-enabled all biomes in Biomes of Plenty and various other changes.

It's looking less and less likely that we'd be able to transition without a world reset - but I did say this was an almost certainty. When the final release version is available, I will see what's possible and try to see if the world can be upgraded without a reset - I won't just dismiss it, but there's several major changes to world gen that will make it considerably difficult.

At the very least, I'll be doing the Enderchest & Thaumcraft research transfer system that I did on the Direwolf20 temporary server we had before Ultimate. (Anything in private ender chests gets copied across - right-clicking on the lock of an Ender Chest with a diamond makes it private.)

If there's any hope of transferring things, looks like I'll return to play for a bit. I had been giving it a break because I assumed that wouldn't happen (and I lost a lot of good stuff) but I shall return at some point.
