That would be an awesome design for a portal area, with a different portal in each of the squares.

And an Elevator in the center leading up to my floating islands... hm. That could work.

Yeah, that would be really neat! And you could use Sky Block to hide your islands or the ground, for that real midair feeling

I meant the Elevator block, which you jump and go up a level or hold shift and go down a level. It doesn't actually look like an elevator unless you want it to be, but in this case that's not a problem.

There's also an elevator block (ender porter) from the RandomThings mod without a height limit (unlike the elevator from OpenBlocks) that teleports you up or down depending on a redstone signal.

I like the power armour statue idea lot. but it'll be much more grand than that in the end.

By the midair thing, I meant you could hide your base a bit. But if it's high enough up, that won;t be a problem.

What's the easiest way to get flight in this version of FtB? I'm probably just going to set up an IC2 teleporter, so it doesn't need to be directly aligned.

Advanced Genetics can splice your genes with those of a bat, allowing creative flight.

The magical stuff generally takes a fair bit of work, not sure what other mods can offer in terms of flight.

True, but Adv. Genetics seems to offer the best flight. It doesn't seem to hard- just grindy, although I've yet to try it out properly.

Power armor jet pack is pretty easy if you have access to IC2 machines and a lot of iron and ender pearls.

For melting mobs- remember that you need to have material already melted in the smeltery to have any effect on mobs inside it. If it's dry, there won't be any damage or melting of mobs.

are you looking for being able to hover or just move around?

the hanglider is a reatively easy and basic form of flight using just leather and sticks.

it has its limitations but works pretty well.

I want to be able to go up to, and fly between, the floating islands I claimed.
Was hoping to avoid power armor, so tedious. But it looks like it'll be the best place.

You need a minimum of 1mb of a fluid in a smeltery to melt down mobs, it's a bug. Might that be it?

That could be the reason, though I already have liquid in it and it should be more than 1 mB

Actually the hang glider sounds like it could work well- might be a neat addition to the architecture of the floating islands as well- glider platforms that have a 'launch tower' that's a little bit higher, and a 'landing pad' that's a little bit lower than the average surface, facing each other on each island.

Hey, real quick- is Reactorcraft on Unleashed? Because I was watching a video and I kinda want to make a Takomac Fusion reactor now.

Everything else would be Magical, but I'd just have a giant fusion reactor as well. Especially if I take over the Deep Dark, I'd let people siphon power off it.

The buildcraft builder is in version 6.x of buildcraft, it is for 1.7 only i think, however what has been done with it looks awesome.

My FTB usually stops working when I load up a world in singleplayer. Anyone have any idea why?

I'll take a look. Don't do anything in your base for now as it will likely involve a rollback of that area. Everyone else can play as normal unless you live right next to/inside ETomb's base.
