BTW I made an Excel spreadsheet which calculates the amount of each block needed for a Molecular Assembly Chamber based on the desired physical dimensions of the chamber, if anyone is interested. Might not be much use, but I was trying to work out the best way to work out how many frames I needed, and it snowballed from there I'm more than willing to distribute it too, if it's of any use to people.

I just lost two sets of full quantum armor while standing on the supposedly "safe" side of an autonomous activator that i equipped with a RotaryCraft sword as part of a wither skeleton farm in the nether.

I have temporarily loaded the farm with spiders as well and they seem to have caused this glitch as they filled up the killing zone climbing out of reach of the swords. And now i take damage if i stand behind the activators. And apparently the armed autonomous activators stripped off and destroyed my armor as well. *shakes fist*

While investigating further the server crashed. Maybe that's unrelated as i have switched off the mob generation and had killed most spiders/skeletons prior to the crash.

Edit: I found this from the RotaryCraft mod dev about the bedrock sword: "It is intended; the extreme hardness of bedrock makes for an extremely sharp blade that makes short work of armor."
Just strange that the armor damage effect extends backwards from the activator. I'll change the kill mechanism in my trap tomorrow and until then everyone please be careful around the activators

How do you lose two full suits of expensive armour? Wouldn't you have decided after the first one to, I don't know, not take the second into the exact circumstance that destroyed the first?

Seems to be the Bedrock Sword after all:
http://www.reddit.com/r/feedthebeast/comments/1wyzwl/do_you_know_of_any_overpowered_item_or_mod_issues/cf6y3w1

Supposedly it breaks MPS, Quantum, and Nano armor outright.

And it's supposedly a bug that gets fixed in an update:

I only noticed losing the first set some time after it happened. I had ported to and from the nether a couple of times in between and experienced some lag while doing so. So i thought it might have been a rare glitch while porting; I never suspected the autonomous activators and the bedrock sword striking backwards (if a spider sits halfway inside it with its larger hitbox).
In short i was both ignorant and curious how and why it happened. Now we know and i'll just build a third set.

Indeed, that's it. I just never noticed any effect behind the activators until i filled the trap with spiders. I removed the bedrock swords and installed iron spikes to kill the mobs so everything is safe again. Unfortunately the skull drop chance decreased quite considerably without the enchanted swords. I have to try different methods or find a safe way to use the bedrock swords...

Autonomous activators could use TiCo cleavers? Make a full-paper one and fill up looting and beheading, then use obsidian plates to boost durability? That solves the AoE armour destruction problem.
Shame there's no automatic repair methods.

How about Auto-Repair Modifier? or a auto re-charger with a battery of some kind

Cleaver have 4 parts to them- TC weapons have 3 modifiers base- make 3 parts Paper (or one paper, two Thaumium? Is Thaumic 1 modifier per 2 thaumium parts, or 1 modifier per 1 thaumium part?) and one part (probably the binding) out of Obsidian, for that 'free' Reinforced III. That gives you 6 modifiers, inbuilt Reinforced III, inbuilt Beheading, inbuilt high damage (decently high for paper, anyways).

Take one modifier for Sharpness, to at least get the damage up to normal Cleaver levels.

One modifier for Auto Repair.

Two to 3 Modifiers for Beheading.

Assuming 3 for Beheading, that leaves 1 basic Modifier. Add 2 modifiers with Diamond/Gold block and Nether Star. 3 Modifiers left.

Now, you'll want to fill these up with durability mods- however, I think you don't actually want straight up Diamond or Emerald Durability boost, because of how Auto Repair works- repaing a tick or two of Durability. If you instead load up with Reinforced levels, that reduces the chance that your small amounts of Durability get used up per swing, while AutoRepair works to replace the same amount per time. So basically, low Durability, high Reinforced allows Auto-Repair to repair a greater percentage of durability at a time, while reducing the chance that durability will be used at all, whereas High Durability (via boosters) lets you go longer before the weapon breaks, but means periods where you'll probably want to repair manually.

Since TC weapons don't break when they're durability goes, and Auto-Repair can repair from 0 durability, I'd say go with high Reinforce on low Durability.

I'll have a look at TiCo weapons and the auto-repair-thingy later this week. Thanks for both of these suggestions.

Otherwise i might just encase the autonomous activators in more transparent blocks to ensure a minimum safe distance or use an mffs module that strips my armor away before i get too close to the killing zone. Perhaps the machines could then place it on an armor stand with a huge flashing sign on top

Where do you all get your Essence Dust?

It seems my Quarry has turned up none and I guess there is none in the Mining Age. After specifically searching for essence ore, I was unable to make even six Magic Crops seeds.

Cptprice especially has an enormous farm near spawn.

Is there some better source of Essence Dust I'm missing?

It's worth checking that Auto-repair works in an autonomous activator. If it does, you could just make 9 cleavers and have them be used in a round-robin style. They might be able to keep up with their rate of usage

Essence Dust is also found occasionally when you break a Magical Crops plant. This process cannot be automated. Later versions of Magical Crops have Essence Seeds which grow Essence Dust, but these cannot be crafted (they're present in the version of Monster we're currently using, but they're not obtainable as far as I know)

Also- Screw thaumium for Tinkers Construct. The whole point of Paper is to have extra modifiers at the expense of any real inherent strengths of it's own. Making Thaumium have similar modifiable properties, but be a metal, is really dumb. /rant

Iv gotten all my essence dust from the overworld, so maybe its not spawning in the mining world? Id assume your quarry would have turned up some by now otherwise.

Even though the world will be destroyed soon, it'd be nice to keep the overworld pretty for the time being.

I'm going to check the Hellish Ocean age for Essence Ore and maybe Quarry it a bit. Nobody will be able to see it anyways under all that water.

As far as I know, Thaumic has a limitation that Paper doesn't have. I actually think the way it works is that if you have 2 Thaumium parts, you get a single additional modifier, and otherwise it's about Iron in properties. So it's more a slight bonus for using a harder-to-obtain material. Plus, purple.

I've looked at a few of them, but when they do multiplayer I'm not a fan because of the guns they've got in their pack. They always seem to be attacking each other- though the only one I've really given time to is Etho.

Depends on which server they're on. And their latest Crackpack season is going to be PVP orientated, but if you watch some of their older stuff there is less PVP and more building showcasing.

I would recommend looking at any other of the Forgecraft team. Although most of their things are not always an exact modpack (often being made of experimental or indev mods) they are pretty good.

In preparation for the server migration (and upgrade) that I will be doing soon, I have made a DNS change to the FTB server.

If you are accessing the FTB server via the "mc.dakkadakka.com:25585" or "ftb.darkinnit.com:25585" addresses, then all is well and you don't have to change anything yet.

If you are accessing the FTB server via the "www.darkinnit.com:25585" address, then this is now pointing to the new server (which isn't ready just yet). If you have this address in Minecraft, you should edit it to be either "mc.dakkadakka.com:25585" or "old.darkinnit.com:25585" for now.

If you're finding that you have "www.darkinnit.com:25585" set in Minecraft but can still access the server, that's probably just because your computer's DNS hasn't updated yet.

You wouldn't be able to add Ars Magica 2 to the pack during the change, would you?

There would be a substantial 'reward' in it for you.

The reward being that your family is returned unharmed.

What's the purpose of the migration and upgrade? Just something that has to be done for <insert whatever reason here>?
