@Carlos ouch. Getting to play with the girlfriend sounds excellent, having to give her Nomads sounds sad... But you will probably already have some pan-o from your friend (as long as it isn't the basic starter, icestorm has similar yet superior contents) in that swap right? Kinda shoehorns you into them Maybe you can trade off back and forth, gives you excuse to play more games!

But Carlos that's a slippery slope now isn't it, what if my painting is all enhanced by dipping them into baby seal blubber? The ends justify the means? I dunno man...

I think I'm going for the adriana starter from my mate. I think the pano he has is the starter too and while I like a fair few of the pan o models I am not a fan of most of their starter set. Honestly if it's between her and the nomads she might not like the answer. :p

Paint it with the blood of your enemies for all I care as long as you share the miniatures afterwards.

So I'm guessing you settled on an adhesive for gluing the metals to the clear bases? What're you using?

Also, the Asuwang looks like he's got a comb over with those fleshy bits of his on top of his head.

Yeah he just sleeps in the woods. Wakes up to check his doo inthe pond, runs a comb through it, says screw it, and then runs off to stalk and eat people.

Super glue so far. Loctite brush on kind cause its easier to control. No issues with fogging so far at all and its easier than epoxy and it is even less conspicuous since I don't have to use as much of it.

Being that it is super glue and the models are metal, I suspect even a twelve inch drop will result in separation but it will also be easy and quick to fix.

Loving the aliens, really dynamic models.

I have to say, as I have in the past, for me this is one of the most inspirational blogs on Dakka, just because of the little details you share about how and when you get your work done between your kid, your job and all the rest. Makes me want to get my act together- I got no kid, and my job can't be any more exhausting than yours, so what's my excuse, eh?

I need a better photo set up though. The phone cam is not up to much.

Heh, Da Boss, I am touched. You guys are all quite inspirational to me as well, keep me interested in doing more stuff so I can post it and chat back and forth about it

I had to finally give up and throw a hundred bucks and a little change at a camera, my phone had been getting increasingly worse and I like to take pictures :p

@Monkeytroll just remember they're metal so the chopping will be tough

So beyond painting as many shasvastii as fast as I can stand it, I've been following a couple of kickstarters. Shameless plugs below:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1744629938/dungeon-saga-the-dwarf-kings-quest
ends sunday!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1621774283/battle-systemstm-fantasy-dungeon-terrain
nearly a month left

I still don't have my BS scifi terrain but I'm sure I'll love it and the fantasy stuff will give me a home for my reaper bone stuff (and go well with the dungeon sagas). The Dungeon Sagas seems to offer gameplay from a straightforward tactical boardgame all the way up to an RPG with miniatures... seems like a good gateway game to get people into RPGs or minis gaming either way, and the extra rules for using KoW monsters/races should allow me to use most of my bones stuff as well.

Got the skin done on those two seed-soldiers which puts them closer to being done than I'd usually think. Just the other two greens, a rifle, a knife, and all of the yellow ports/tendrils. May get them done tonight, maybe tonight+tomorrow morning. May just take a break, who knows

Continuing the green alien parade we have two more seed soldiers:

I'll take better pictures after I've got them on their bases, freshly dipped here.

I think the first one and the gwailos came out a little better from the dip, the guy with the rifle really got it bad from the primer with the bumps, you can see them with your eye not just the camera.

Well it's Labor Day weekend so I've got saturday, sunday, and monday to paint more. Wonder if I could get three done?

Thanks

The slimy is more or less intentional, the bumpiness especially on the rifle seed soldier is poor choice of primers.

That thing you said, indeed!

Gonna do the combi rifle shrouded, gwailos, and speculo killer next. So we'll have the most armored of my 9, and a bored looking chick with a light saber

I think the shrouded though will be the most versatile in game, there are profiles for a Lieutenant, mine layer, forward observer, all of them have the rifle so this guy can pose as all, nice and versatile. The Gwailos however is at fault for getting me started down this path in the first place, and the specculo killer is fairly different.

@CC what do you mean, you think it should be shinier than it is? I have a pot of 'ardcoat if you think it would make them shinier

Whoop! Up to 4 now. That's all seed soldiers done. I think I'm gonna work on the Gwailos, Shrouded, and Speculo Killer all at once, since I have to mix several of the colors that I'm using, saves time. No work on that yet, been busy watching Dungeon Sagas count down and being lazy

Nice stuff, Grim. I know those are infinity models, but you could use them as 3rd gen plague as well. They would fit right in.

next update 47: Don't think we need pictures too hard...

Basically putting abyssal dwarfs into the bestiary, neat. Dunno why that costs money, I they have to figure some stats for them for DS. Ehh, some people aren't happy, but the more enemies to vanquish the better imo! Also another $30 add-on:

Heh, kind of amused by mantic, I'm pretty sure they've left adding doors in for this long just to troll everyone for constantly begging for them in the comments

The Seed Soldiers are looking very good. You're making me want to order a set (they'll have to wait though because a Zerat is actually my next CA model). While I'm actually not a fan of Giraldez's colors for the Shasvastii, I really like the way you're doing them.

Well I'm not on the same planet as Angel in terms of skill or awesome, but I like the way my colors have turned out.

So far I don't really like any other CA models. I thought I liked morats but I kind of fell out of that. Raicho is still a badass though.

Lol! I just realized I stuck a response to the DS kickstarter news post in my own blog. Lewlz.

That one went ridiculous, a million and 50k on top. So you guys can look forward to me painting that towards the tail end of next year eh

So I guess I'm glad I painted Ashley, totally have gotten zero work done on shasvastii this weekend between watching kickstarters and hanging out with wife/daughter.

Too late for daylight pictures though! I'll have to try to get some tomorrow. Think I may have some hobby time since it would usually be a work day but it won't be.

This will probably get buried later on, but here's the pictures from the KoW battle at gencon:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-70053-42942_Gencon2014-kow.html

Commentary probably not coming. I'm pretty sure my opponent was named Mark and he hailed from Toronto. He had a neat nature army created by the event handler (I know the name somewhere, I think he goes by Puggimer or something similar on the Mantic forums) out of old Rakham/confrontation models I think he said. The dark elves (and all of the other armies there) were also his and quite nice tabletop jobs.

The battle was a complete route, my crosbows were useless and I got smashed in melee by the big fatty elementals, kind of like fighting ogres with more special rules.

Why do that if it's the legitimate cost of shipping? I don't mind that it cost that much, just makes it prohibitive to order much. For instance I want some guns, but I think Hasslefree ships for maybe 5 bucks which is a lot less bitter of a pill.
