Of course 4/5th of my terminators already have DA markings...

Oh yeah AoV I did get herders for my martians, just not sure what else I could add in besides bugs for the clawed beasts (which you can only get one of per batch)

Umm nope. You can get an entire herd of them now. Without Beastmasters if you saw fit IIRC. I think it was up to 12 in a unit? I'd tell you for sure if my iPad battery hadn't run out lol.

Finished the front of that shirt, and oh look there's a martian bug sneaking around

I fixed the last e already, just wasn't done in the photo. Gotta do the back. Thoughts? I think it could have had some better composition and I'm probably not going to stencil clean letters again, something jagged like the 300 logo looks better. There's also a bit of splatter around the 300, doesn't show up in the photo.

Now to finish up the groundwork on the rank bases and diorama scene.

Do angry marines grim. You can be as silly as you like. Get a basic paint job using army painter yellow primer or something, edge highlight pick, out the details and go crazy on the modeling

I dunno I might take myself too seriously to do angry marines.

And I mean that I may not be able to make them look right. Some people have a certain ability to pull stuff like that off, I'm not sure I'm there. Maybe some conversions and you guys can tell me if they're angry marines or just OTT marines?

Grim, you need to do what I did and convert your local friends in to gaming enthusiasts, so you don't have to drive and play at a club.

Local friends? What are those? Anyone I know and consider a friend lives at least an hour away

Gonna see if the library game day or mini gamestore boardgame night end up with any players I can poach though.

Yeah, closest store for gaming for me is similar due to my state's hill/valley and curvy natured roads to drive on.

Ah local Library pinching! bet one o the games will help. Maybe even start your own game club?

We'll see! The guys running the little gamestore on the edge of town are young and seem to be trying hard so I have a feeling in a few years there may be a pretty strong little gaming community there, if the store stays afloat. I may see about spending some money with them next year when I'm back up to full time (winter layoff and spending freezes impending) rather than gorging myself on kickstarters There have been a couple-three old grognards at the library the time or three I've gone, might be able to find something D&D-ish, and that last time there was a younger guy who was pretty pen and paper enthusiastic.

The guy what runs the library thing may have suggested he had an old GW army or two, I'm thinking 40k but my memory for details is kind of lame.

There are prospects, and I am not without hope. Patience is the key here though.

D&D is a great way to lure..er..um recruit gaming buddies. My weekly 40K gaming group was previously my weekly RPG group.

When the KoW2 shipment arrives next year I'm sure I can recruit enough of them that it won't go to waste.

Haha I'm becoming a KoW backer haven

Thats ok though, this is the cool crowd that doesn't bitch endlessly about Mantic or get hung up on fantasy game dinosaur anatomy

I'm pretty sure the only way to really get things moving is a clutch win from add-on Wednesday. They were kind of lackluster for DS and we only get two of them for this, so I hope they bring out some impressive can't-live-without add-ons to get backers pledging more

On the Hobby front, I got a little curvy papercraft box from hobby lobby for a couple of bucks that may get made into a building at some point, and some green felt to use for my daughter's play table. We'll see how that goes, it may be what I do for my next fantasy table due to cost and ease of use. And the fact that using 3-4 tubs of static grass and 2-3 large bottles of elmer's glue to hold it all down has left me with boards that still shed almost ten years later =/

FYI it's definitely a unit of 12 in ANY combination. Pretty expensive unit though if it's all Clawed Fiends at 30pts each. They have Rage which gives +2A for charging rather than +1A. If they make a disordered charge they don't benefit from it whatsoever.

For Fantasy, I really wouldn't bother with removable rooves, units on mass bases can't really get in them so you might as well save yourself the time.

Disordered charge is what now, attacking two units? Or is it going through cover first? Either way I'm sure it's exploitable to their detriment

I don't really care too much about winning anyway, but I can't help but get into the works/doesn't work and viability/cool dilemmas when I look at 40k.

Hopefully my blatantly over the top original marines, (BOTTOM has a nice ring to it ehh?) don't fall victim

Heh BOTTOM Marines. 'Cause it's funny, since adding the last word of an acronym after the acronym (and thusly saying things like automated teller machine machine) is a pet peeve but it's amusing to annoy myself I guess I can just refer to them as my Bottoms too

@Para, oh this is for my deadzone/infinity desert/badlands outpost board. Since all you do with most fantasy buildings is move around them, it's largely easier to just field rocks

How long did you spend on that acronym?
Disordered Charge is for charging multiple units at once.

And if the terrain is for sci-fi, then I say do interior details if you can be bothered. Hypocritical as I don't myself, but it can add character.

Actually I got to BOTT in like 2 seconds, then spent several minutes trying to figure out a good O to allow for the addition of an M. Still open for change...

I thought that was what disordered charge may be. Good to know.

I may look into building a few interior bits that I could cast with my unused casting kit. Like wall details. Like a thin-ish sheet of wall details like screens/shelves, appliances and so on.

So here's that cheap paper/board box thing I got from hobby lobby. On sale it was 2 bucks. I think I'll cover the outside and inside alike with that plaster cloth stuff and smooth over it with the other thing, hydrocal or whatever, basically plaster I'm pretty sure. The sketch on the inside is possible furniture ideas, this would be a barracks or living quarters building. There would be a ladder to the roof for aesthetics, not really necessary for deadzone rules.

Huh... here's another 'important' question... If I go about making crazy BOTTOMs, then should I magnetize their arms? I did get those bearings so I could technically give them a fair range of articulation.

The only thing is that if I were to do that... I dunno I've just never had luck with getting the poses on magnetized models 'just so', and that's kind of the whole point for these guys.

Thoughts?

Thanks, lets hope it still looks good once I get some texture on it and sort out the interior details. There will only be room for a couple three such buildings on the entire 2x2' board by my reckoning. Maybe a larger one, or a series of smaller buildings. I do want some to create alleyways for cool spots to have assassinations and shoot-outs.

Oh also had another thought:
Blatantly
Over
The
Top
Opulent
Marines

I think a really tricked out Marneus Calgar with three units of Honor guard may be the way to go. Maybe another hero with a command squad so I can take all three kinds of standards (opulence starting to show ). Drop pods or rhinos/razors as necessary. Still gonna look up my dark angels codex just in case. I'd rather not buy the new space wolves or wait for blood angels just for a silly idea so we'll see what I can do with those books.

I think you should stick with glue. Magnets are cool and all, but if you ever transported them, the fully sick poses would get ruined.

Plus surely no self respecting BOTTOM would be seen riding anything but a Land Raider?

See My Crazy Army plan here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/521618.page#5517409

Well I only have one whereas I have 3 pods and upwards of 8 rhinos... I think half the point of these guys is to heroically march across the board even if they get shot to death, if they're cowering inside of a transport you can't see them being awesome

I'd have to find something to use for jump packs, and get good at cutting legs into running legs... but I really have an itch to make a unit of at least five vanguard veterans with 2-handed thunderhammers like the MC from the space marine video game. My mantic dwarfs pretty much gave me all of the 2handed thunderhammers I could need. Although for full scale opulence I *could* have them hold them in one hand and take thunderhammers too That's what 45 points of gear per veteran and the squads like 114 or some such... 339 or so off the top of my head? Lolol that's kind of the degree of things I'm after

I think Archer is right, BOTTOMs need Land Raiders. Though I guess plummeting from space and coming out of the drop pods in epic poses would also be good...
Minimal magnetizing maybe? Just for weapons switches and the ball bearings so their heads can turn.

Forgive me now! Tomorrow I may no longer feel guilty...
