That kickstarter seems decent. I'll need to check in with my gaming group to see if anyone else is going to get in on it.

If KoW KS runs like all their other kickstarters I expect it to follow the same recipe. Start with deals that are okay, but resistable. Three weeks later they've added enough free loot to make the KS super sweet.
TBH I'm in for $1 right now, but I give it 2 weeks before the Forces of the Abyss Army is over a 100 models and I'm upping my pledge to get the Rulebooks and Forces of the Abyss Mega Starter Army

Probably black with maybe a white dot/line somewhere.
Not sure I haven't looked yet. I should get on that. Automatically Appended Next Post:

This looks like a similar effort to what mantic has done but blended by hand i'd say, and I think I like it quite a bit more.

I like the taxi the best if you can pull the effect off.

I will probably *attempt* the taxi version. The flames of war one is cool but it slaves the vehicles to a particular board type just like non-clear bases do. It looks cool, especially on the right board (blue sky, green grass/field/etc) but might grate a bit on a city fight board. Personal taste there.
I'll probably back down to the rulebook. Unless someone wants to get me an army for xmas

Glossy black is probably what will happen. The taxicab does look pretty nice though, it's a good compromise but a lot harder to do by the looks of it.
Stupid kings of war 2.0 kickstarter... now I'm making multibases for my fantasy armies just because =/
I did get the back put onto the diorama piece though, and the next step of the multibases is in common with what needs to happen to the dio.
I also got all of the stencils cut out for my nephew's shirt, but I determined that the 'hour in the dryer on hot' isn't gonna work to heatset my paint. At least not on the sample. Ironing seemed like a better idea anyway.
If I go bananas and start multibasing all of my fantasy armies with occasional touchups... should I post them here or make a third blog for fantasy stuff?

Short answer: Not really, torn between trying to sell and shelving them in case of future projects.
Long answer:
I have lots of ideas but I'm not sure when/if they will come to fruition. I'm planning on using most/all of my imperial vehicles to make a neat 2x2' deadzone board. I think rhinos would be really neat with the doors down (and the insides of the side panels cut out so you could run through them) where short models could run in by a ramp and out the other side without getting shot, now have 5-8 rhinos like that, a few other tanks possibly piled into large scrap heaps... A crane and such.
That's only if I don't actually make some kind of army out of the marines. I could technically leave the rhinos unattached to the board and make some kind of zombie/rusty/decaying marine force to go with the tanks I guess.
I suppose the main issue is that I don't have anyone local to play the game with and an hour drive to get to a gamestore significantly cuts into the amount of time I'd have to play, and it would be once in a blue moon. IF I could find people to play.
So I'm not keen on getting the new book for a bunch of if's and maybe's.
That leaves the marines mostly as a painting project, and I just dunno. They're so comparatively short...
But it would take forever to tall-scale them.
Could tall-scale when I chaos them up, but not sure that I'm overly fussed about having a chaos army either.
I might make an enforcer strike team out of tall-scaled marines, though I have a *bunch* of deadzone models that already fill that purpose.
If I found a place to play locally or at least a couple of times a month... I could end up busting out an army in a hurry for that purpose.
There are more ideas but yeah basically I can't decide what to do with them. If I steal their tanks for my tank graveyard, then I'm pretty unlikely to do anything else with them. Well sell them, to someone who already has tanks Automatically Appended Next Post: Also trying to think of which 40k army the Martians most closely represent as I'd just about rather field those than my current choices of 40k armies, should the ability to play arise.
The guy that runs that monthly library game-day thing may have suggested that he had some 40k armies laying about. So it *is* possible I could find a game locally occasionally.
Could *almost* see the martians as eldar, big stompy wraithknights, flying saucer vypers, martians as guardians, marines as the one above that, science division as... something? Or even dark eldar with flying saucer venoms, big stompy... well nothing (sadface), martians for warriors, science division for wracks maybe?... bugs would fit for a beast master but wouldn't have anything to go with them.
Dunno.
40k for me is very much in limbo on a number of fronts

@AoV I think ToT explains best why I might not just jump into painting them, so much to do
A humorous idea has popped up though... What if I took my marines and just kitted them out, geared them to their receding hair lines (teeth is far too mundane, we need higher!) and made a list out of that? Like I'm talking stupid amounts of upgrades primarily because it would look cool Choosing whichever chapter rules would let me best craft things such as: Dual-wielding power weapon honorguard/death company/whatever, dual-wield plasma pistols just because. I could tall scale them because the individual cost would be so high you couldn't take too many Maybe I could even go back to Ultras and do Fistius Calgar and take THREE units of honor guard for lewls Poses as dynamic as possible, using my choicest bits to maximum effect. Whatever is left over could then be done away with in one way or another.
Not quite Angry Marines levels of ridiculousness... but approaching it I'm cool with taking scouts for troops, I don't mind if they're shorter than the other marines.
Thoughts? Which marine codices or chapters could best represent this? Terminators are cool too but I'd like those that can be as loaded down as possible with gubbins.
@Theophany that's when I just bust out the forge fathers to count as space marines If they're going to be honest-to-goodness marines... they need to be imposing
Ok well I've heard Necrons, Tau, and Eldar, but what about supporting facts and thoughts?

The best one for that would be the Space Wolves, especially if you run the formation with the supplement that gives 1-6 Elites and buffs them to WS5. Wolf Guard Termies and PAWG can get insanely expensive... As in, 1500 points= under 20 models expensive!

Haha, I don't think I wanna get any FW or extra supplements, I'm pretty sure generic ultras can get retardedly expensive. I do have some space wolf bits though so maybe an allied contingent
