I have decided on the new army I am going to start this year and it is going to be Tyranids (yea I know it only took me three months. Indecision is a cruel mistress). Anywho I always said if I did chose tyranids I wanted them to be on a jungle base as that just seemed right in my mind. Also being an avid starcraft player I wanted to paint them like the standard zerg colors (pictures below of example). The other idea I had was to do everything in my power to make them look as much like things out of borderlands 2 as possible.

For the basing I am just curious as how one would do jungle bases. I have a good idea for normal units, but with the MC like Hive Tyrants and Tervigons what would make sense to have on that base, and how would I pull it off. Any and all advice in this situation is going to be helpful I think so just give it to me

and

These two are the best I could do, the first a simple google search and the second courtesy of the army painter feature here on dakka. I know they aren't a lot to go off of but what do you think of the general idea. Also what paints would you say I need?

I hope I am not asking too much of you. I am really glad I migrated to dakkdakka the conditions over on reddits warhammer subs are just god awful.

Thanks,
Nafarious

Well of course tutorials was the wrong place to post this. You'll never get the exposure you desire.

If you want to give them the borderlands look then i suggest you look up a dakka user named 'Nard'. He has painted his nids in a method that resembles cell shading which is the borderlands effect you are looking for. Find his tutorial on how he painted his tyranids and then adapt the colours to your own.

I would have suggested that you post this in the Painting and Modeling. P&M is a much busier board. There's a heap more traffic in P&M as opposed to Tutorials so you will get replies much quicker. It is a moot point however since a mod has already moved it to the correct forum.

And also this. To quote the Tutorials sticky.

If you have requests, post them in the main modeling and painting forum.

This forum is for detailed tutorials that you have written only. Dont post any 'pending content' type posts and dont post any requests without content.

Basically if you are starting a thread in this forum, you should be teaching and showing, not learning and asking.

Darn. Ok well I guess since I can't delete this post :l I don't know what to do. My suggestion would be to just let it die. So no more responding >.>

"eye" was just saying that I enjoyed the purple and your painted model but as an ork player I want to see a unit of troops painted! beacuse just like mine, your army is a horde force so I hope your brush/wrist is ready !

I dig the starcraft Zerg colors, it looks just like it to me. I like the borderlands idea, I was thinking about doing Tau as Hyperion loaders, make some cultists into raiders (counts as those kroot dudes maybe?), and find something to make claptraps out of to replace the drones. Might be a bigger project than I'm ready for yet though.
