I love IG and I find myself always accumulating more and more guardsmen. I have approx 80 cadians, 20 stormtroopers and 80 war games factory shock troopers. War games factory shock troopers ruined me, "$20 for 18 guys?! I'll take 3 please!". Just wait till I get some of dreamforge's new models. I just can't help myself.

How many guardsman do you guys own? Do you find yourself always purchasing more?

I have about 120 but there's no option on the poll for that at the moment...

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

A bit over 200.

The thing, though, is that only about 100 of them are core units, like officers, dudes with lasguns, and the meltaguns that I never leave home without. The other 100+ are comprised mostly of upgrades. Sometimes I'm going to want 9 mortar teams, some times I won't. Sometimes I'm going to want to use my ogryn or stormtroopers, sometimes I won't. I've also got a pretty pile of special weapons depending on what I'm looking for at the moment.

Ok, so before anyone judges me, I've been doing this since 1992.

I have:

450 cadians metal and plastic (im counting the weapon teams as 2 each) (again don't judge me)
230 catachans (counting the weapon teams as 2 again)
30-40 stormtroopers
30-40 kasrkin
40-50 valhallans
60 or so armageddon steel legion
80 cultists (use as penal units)
80 wargames factory dudes (use these guys as part missile teams, part conscripts
30 or so mordians, pratorians, vansar, and other necromunda dude mixes.
10-20 gaunt ghost line infantry adn the command squad.
All the character models that have come out since then
all the commissar models, including the chick.
solar macharius
only thing I havent picked up is the old last chancer set (mostly because i thought htey looked like village people) do have the commander though.

I'm not counting ogryn or ratlings...

I have a smallish guard army of like 50 ish Cadians, two Chimeras, 3x Leman Russes and 2x Valk/Vendettas.... I haven't played with them in 6th, but I should bring them as allies one of these days to switch it up. And the Wargames Factory models are really neat, one of the guys at the FLGS has some, I love the models.

2x 10 man tactical squads

1x 10 man assault squad
1x command section (with some spare officers and exta medics)
12 stormtroopers (besides a few officers, the only non-RT minis)
One ogren
One comisarr

I don't know how long ago I was able to field a legal army. Most of them were picked up when we were playing Rouge Trader as a RPG.

A bit under 50 DKoK. I like tanks more than infantry so I've got a minimum CCS and 2.5 veteran squads, with another 10 or so artillery crew and random models. I almost have more infantry models used as tank crew (just for aesthetic purposes) than as actual game models.

Only 50 cadians (20 vets, 20 regulars, 10 in various commands), but I'm going to start building up a footguard list from victoria's guardsmen, a 100 when all's said and done.

I'm curious to see, however, how many tanks the average guard player has.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Just counting finished models:

* Macharius vanquisher
* Malcador annihilator
* Valdor x2
* Minotaur
* Leman Russ
* Medusa
* Basilisk
* Griffon
* Salamander command
* Salamander scout
* Hades x3
* Centaur x2

My near-future WIP list contains 2x Leman Russ, 2x Destroyer, and a Minotaur, with another Macharius once I get the rest of the money for it.

Before this last Saturday?

300, easily.

But I sold all the plastic cadians (numbering around 100-150) so my army is dramatically reduced.

TIME TO REBUILD!

Roughly 40 Catachans
~40 of those defiance games UAMC infantry
~40 half assembled new awesome-o cadians (read, half assembled victoria lamb guardsmen)
~40 Dreamforge stormtroopers that I may or may not use
~20 or so old metal heroes and characters that I kept mainly because they looked cool. I also kept a few of my old Cadian commanders because I was sentimental.
~50 Starship troopers Power Armored Mobile Infantry (the TV show kind) and 40 light infantry on the way (The movie kind. They will look beyond badass in my guard army.)

Highly doubt I'll be buying any more GW guardsmen though...

Don't get me started on tanks. I have like 8 russes of various types, a vendetta, and 5 chimeras.

60 cadians
45 Kasrkin
60 RT era plastic "imperial guard".
6 Ogryns
5 Commissars.
2 Sanctioned Psykers.

This does not count tanks, walkers or other "guard" assets.

However, none of them are currently "Imperial Guard" having been repurposed for Tomorrow's War after I became disillusioned and dissatisfied with 40k (and gave away the codex, as well).

Sick puppy here, lol. Can't remember the total off the top of my head.

Over 120 classic metal Cadians. Close to 100 Steel Legion. A small selection of various others.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

6x45-man Platoons (2 plastic Cadian, 2 metal Cadian, 1 Mordian, 1 Tallarn)
Probably another 52 separate 2-man weapon teams (not part of the squads, who all have their own), and they're all mixed types from the four types listed above.
And I'd say another 50-60 others on top of that, be they random squads, HQ units and so on (mostly plastic Cadian, but with a few other odds and ends thrown in).
