28mm miniature wargame featuring mighty dragons and their deadly armies. Innovative gameplay, beautiful models, and epic story
Drake is a 28mm true scale miniature skirmish game featuring ancient dragons who have risen from a protective sleep to find themselves in a changed world. After The Great Awakening, different species of dragons migrated across the continent of Dara and quickly subjugated the local inhabitants through conquest, diplomacy and trickery. As their armies of beastly creatures, humanoid allies and dark spellcasters grew so did their thirst for battle. Dara erupts into war as the dragons fight for dominance and resources.
Our game uses an original set of game rules. You select the abilities of your Dragon Leaders from a library of spell cards, and play from a starting hand of 7 cards. Numerous enhancements, fireblasts and chants are all yours to command. These cards are available in an open format allowing you to know what you’re getting. Totally customize your deck, and build an incredible strategy. Drake uses completely new fantasy creatures and concepts. This is a fast-paced game with a small model count that rewards tactics, nerves of steel and quick responsive actions – especially on your opponent’s turn!

Hrrm, was quite intrigued at first, there are a few models in there that would make a nice basis for conversions, but they're using metal which is an instant no-no as far as I'm concerned, plus the shipping charge is a bit on the high side.

All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal |

This actually looks much more interesting than all the sci-fi wargame kickstarters that are coming out lately.
Interesting theme, too, with a large dragon model acting like a Warcaster in Warmachine.

Looks good I might get in on this one.. I don' t mind metal, but it looks like those are going to be 3D prints and one thing I learned is really fine details like the tips of some of the horns and spears and stuff might not come out too good when they finally make the metal molds.. ran into a few issues with some of my 3D prints and we ended up having to go back and beef em up a little.

Really like the Rish Dragon. Not sure I need another game no one else plays, so I'll probably pass on one of the Drake: the Dragoning starters, but may have to pledge for the individual Dragon.

The metal troop models don't worry me a bit, at least as far as the material goes, as long as they are cast well. I especially like how the Dragons will be cast in restic, so they won't be too heavy (or expensive).
I definitely can't afford to back the game anytime soon (I'd have to get the two player option), but I'd be interested in following it's growth once it hits stores. Something makes me really like the Rish dragon and the "Rivercrest" troops in it's force, though the 40mm monster really seems out of place in that warband, unless there is some sort of good fluff behind it.

I am a bit conflicted about the "orc" (I see the Cherek as being a bit like Orcs) female hero. Now, some sort of den mother character, with a suckling infant, I can see. But standing on a battlefield, holding a baby that's still connected to your uterus with it's umbilical cord?
That's just......odd. Not quite "Nursemaid-level crazy brain-damaging Hentai pregnant female-raping kooky", but definitely an odd artistic choice.

It is like they tried to put some ugly stuff with cool stuff.

I've dealt with pewter for 15+ years, I don;t think 4-8 models from a warband would kill me to work with. The only way pewter can ruin a game is if it's the idiotically brittle kind that Confrontation (not the PPP version) was made from, where weapons would snap right off instead of bend.

As someone who started converting with their second miniature, my memories of metal minis are ones of frustration and personal injury. I honestly don't see the benefit to continuing to use an outdated technology when a better one is available with no appreciable difference in costs.

Don't you know that change is bad and evil?
The minis look good, but the limbs on the dragons are too humanoid imo. They just seem really out of place. Also seems a bit silly to follow the thief-mage-fighter archetype with dragons.

Oh I wouldn't call metal outdated by any means. Some of the best models I have ever bought are metal! Multi-part metal on the other hand... that tyranid hive tyrant still gives me nightmares.
Great looking ks anyway. Unfortunately I already have too much unpainted stuff and refuse to add more to the pile until I am done!

Or just have them learn how to break the thing into a KIT that can be assembled, still have amazing detail, and all the benefits of plastic. If I want a metal dragon, I'll get one of those amazing pewter collectibles that you see in curio shops. At least then I'll have a piece with enough detail that it's worth the hassle. Oh, for the record, Kroot, I do not mind individual characters done in resin like Poots or even FW do. I dislike larger kits done this way such as FW and PP do.
