is deep striking a land raider a good idea? Because I was thinking if I deep strike a redeemer near there lines and it would only scatter D6 and the flamers would wipe out a lot of there units (maby)
also what's a good second HQ choice

If you want to deep strike a bunch of flamer templates, I have good news: a Furioso dreadnought with frag cannon and heavy flamer in a drop pod is 70+ points cheaper. It is less survivable, though not a huge difference, and trades transport capacity for never deep strike mishapping. Land Raiders have big foot prints, and they need to deep strike aggressively to use those flamers.

Redeemers have fire arc issues, and don't have descent of angels, so scatter the full 2d6"...which considering it's size will lead to a lot of mishaps.
Stick with podded fragnoughts, sternguard or outflanking Baals if you want surprise template death.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I found this really interesting. I ran BA on a tournament in January with a JP list and didn't like the results I got with it. I am now attending a new one in June so this thread might prove useful for me to come up with a new list. The only special for this tournament is that we need to take a named character. So according to your opinions something like:

@Holy Heretic - BA suffer from too few bodies at higher numbers, I feel at 750-1K points that issue is compounded.
@BCMS - you have no melta. I feel like there are certain armies that will give you a hard time, like a solid gun line army. Orks.

You missed my point this tournament forces you to use a named character so no second library. But yes you are right I forgot about the meltas

I'd also suggest dropping most of the power weapons on the assault squads. A 5 man ASM squad is....crap, and a power weapon isn't changing that. Get a sang priest or two to try to keep those ASM alive a bit longer.

What about inferno pistols or nay other weapon the sergeant can take? Are they worth or is it better to just drop it completely? I am too late to give it a try this week, but next Wednesday I will try this at my local gaming club to see how it goes

I don't much like the inferno pistols either. I've run the las/plas spam BA list for years now and find that if you need your ASM in melee, you've already lost the game.

I agree with this. I just don't like the las/ plas RAZ. TSM are just so much better than ASM its not even funny. I think I'd go blue if it weren't for our tanks.

This is exactly what I've been thinking lately...or even green (have you SEEN how cheap they can do TACs?!).

BA 10 TSM - 180
CSM 10 TSM - 140, you can add mark of nurgle to each of them for 30 and still come out 10 points cheaper.
BUTTTTTT we have fast vehicles. Afast vindy is nothing to scoff at.

And Tac squads can get FNP with a priest or Honor Guard guy nearby. Free upgrades make them pretty appealing for scoring.
So I was thinking about this for 1850 my list but need C&C:
Librarian
TDA Storm Shield (changeable but thinking it helps with Slay the Warlord)
Furioso w/talons (just going to run them behind the tanks)
Furioso w/talons
Sanguinary Priest
RAS (5 man)
Land Raider (normal once since it's painted up already)

meFEASTon and his lack of an Invulnerable save. You have to keep a priest near him. He cost to much, but wipes out any troop pick you put him against. I love him; his story and all, but because of his huge flaws: cost, no INV, not an independent character. He's unplayable.
Priest are are the best we have, giving a 5+ FnP, must take. Throw them on bikes for the surviability.

See, this is why I asked about scoring units, but no one had any input back then
