So I'm a loyalist player, BA to be exact, but last night it was decided that I should play Chaos. It felt dirty, like I was betraying everything I believed in. So who better to run as my HQ than Kharne right? I decided on:
Kharne
3x 20 Khorne Bezerkers
2x 3 Obliteraters
6 Havoc 4 Auto Cannon
He ripped through everything needless to say, with the obliterators opening rhinos and vehicles up.
How do others use him, and what do you guys run with him?
Turns out I was playing the wrong RED all along....

For a World Eaters army you want to get your infantry into cc as soon as possible. Id use Huron Blackheart as your warlord and Infiltrate d3 units of those Zerker blobs with Kharne in one of them, or you could run a Khorne Lord on Jugg with Axe of Blinding Fury and Spawn/bike escort, or put Kharne and friends in a Land Raider.
Got a lil off topic but there are some other fun things to do with a khorne army. Lol

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I like Kharn in a giant squad of cultists. Gives them fearless and who cares if he kills a little cultist here or there. He's not too afraid of most challenges with an AP2 I5 weapon either.

I like that idea too, but i usually run my jugger lord with the cultist, and kharn in the raider, both are amazing ideas.
I like the Huron idea too, never used it, but could see its perks.

I wasn't aware Kharn was abuse-able. He gets insta-gibbed by a hidden powerfist. Although Khorne>BA, at least before their codex in 2019.

There is no such thing as hidden power fist anymore. Kharn issues a challenge. The sergeant accepts and gets pulped. The sergeant declines and Kharn eats the rest of the squad (plus a few friends) then next turn he kills the sergeant.
He can catch a melta gun or a krak missile that will insta-kill him, but that's what his friends are for, to take those missiles to the face.
The issue with Kharn is that he's slow. Especially if he's hoofing it with a bunch of cultists.
For roughly the same price you can get a biker lord with the axe of blind fury. He can't be instantly killed by most long range weapons. He gets D6 attacks on top of his 5 attacks on the charge (or counter charge). Plus he can move 12 inches while shooting and chopping or 24 inches while turbo boosting. So the bike allow him to make a turn 2 charge without wasting points on a land raider. Plus, he doesn't kill his friends. The axe might bite him, but that's what the 4+ invul is for.

Nope, not correct. If the IC has it then the unit may benefit in the case of infiltrate though a unit with it will not confer it to an IC who joins without it. Roll the D3, give it to Huron, have him join 20 berserkers and kharn... And what the hilarity take place!

Or in Purifiers, Nob squads, any Terminators really... All have PF's which aren't on Sergeants. The question is, why are you taking those PF wounds on Kharn?? You've got a squad of disposable chumps around him (or you should have) to catch those punches for him.

This might be just semantics, but I don't think you're using the term correctly. A fist used to be hidden because even if you put wounds on the squad you couldn't target the power fist. So the guy with it would survive to swing at your expensive models. Now, there is no such thing as a hidden fist. You can try to position your squad so that the fist survives to swing, but it's not really hidden. If the whole squad has power fists, none of them are hidden. It's just a squad with a whole lot of power fists.

If the PF swinger is not a character, he can't precision strike, so no problem for Kharn... Some Cultists die for Chaos, so what? Most characters are crushed in challenges as mentioned in the thread. The only way for Kharn to die in a challenge is to meet an uber CC demigod, like a Waaagh-ing 2++ Ghazghkull or S10 I7 Mephiston. The best way to use Kharn IMO is in a maxed out Cultist squad with no upgrades. They can take all the wounds for him, especially against other hordes. Plus, even if Kharn dies in the end, he'll slice and dice loads and loads of enemies before he goes down. He has Hatred. He is awesome. Kharn is hands down one of the best HQs in the Codex. I would be more worried about shooting than anything else.
Congratulations on your defection. Death to the false Emperor!

I have come to the realisation that the rest of Kharn's squad is just there for abalative wounds and to cheer him on. Running him with berserkers is expensive, and pretty much overkill. By himself, he can easily chew through a full 10 man squad within 2 rounds of combat. So, running him with barebones CSM or Cultists is actually not a bad idea. The only problem with that is that its slower. You probably reach combat on turn 3 fastest as opposed to the Lord on Juggernaut with axe of blind fury who will probably be hitting enemy lines by turn 2.

*Turn 2 assault* most likely, since if you're going first you can't charge on t1, and if going second your opponent will probably move away..
Kharn and Huron won't be coming along either, unless you roll a 3 on your Warlord trait and waste it by giving infiltrate to them as well.

Kharne is a beast and should only run into problems if he encounters characters he cannot beat in a challenge such as Draigo, Logan, other cc beasties with a 3++, Abby, a 2++ DE character, and a few others.
The most common problems he will run into are NDK and a MSS Dlord. Both are popular and problematic in a challenge. Automatically Appended Next Post: Actually no wait he's immune to ID from nemesis doom fists and will take a NDKs lunch money if he gets the charge.
But add crushing claw tervigons with biomancy.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

I run him in a land raider with dirge casters accompanied by 8 berserkers and a lord with axe of blind fury. I send a rhino full of berserkers following behind the land raider to ward off counter charges/support the land raider squad (not that they usually need it ).

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Although Abbadon in Apocalypse Games is always fun for epic duels. Now imagine an all Khorne army with Skarbrand and Kharn, your opponent might as well bend over
With kharn as good as he is, is it worth if to multi assault with all the cultists etc you're taking with him to maximize damage if possible?
