Mostly, on my phone.

Seeing all this cool innovation, I think my original idea - the shrine of khorne made from toy bits - is more in keeping with the League's... ideals I guess. I can live with the modular terrain being chaos specific, if not (posssssssibly not) exclusively khorne.

Very Cool! I LOVE the brick showing below the plaster!

@onManNoodles: That's looking awesome so far! I'd say the basic shape is very well done at this point, if it were me I would add more details like from watch parts, little plastic gears that you can scavenge or just plain copper wire (you can always pull apart electrical cables). Part of my heart belongs to anything mechanicus!

@Camkierhi: the walls and basic shape are looking good... at this point I'd try out some different plasters (like a little can of spackle from the hardware store, mixed with some rubble for the floor) on it to get a worn down texture, there are parts that are still very angular.

I still haven't figured out a very good formula for simulating cracked wall plaster, but I did get very good results on my chaos bastion after I covered foam in spackle, then sprayed it with a spraycan primer that ate into the holes (the foam beneath) and made a very convincing texture. Also just plain goopy, low quality paint or crackle paint from the art store may have great results!

A good option is the "stone" spray paints for making plant pots look like, well, stone - I used it on my RoB and it's a nice gritty effect.

Yes! neglected to mention it. The stone spray paint is great, but more for a stone wall kind of deal i would say, as the chunks are sometimes pretty grainy. Also test it first on foam, I've sprayed some on pink foam and it had no ill melting effects but YMMV. A

s for pics this is the one i was talking about, kind of a bad pic but maybe you get the idea.

Looks great, and I for one like your giant oversized grimdark toothpicks. After all, in the grimdark future, there is no dental
floss.

Corrected again...

Genetically enhanced SMs don't need it, Imperial citizens can't afford it and the decaying Emperor doesn't give a damn about it...

probably, yeah. the barbed wire is a bit oversized too (from pipe cleaner)... next time i might use little nails or something similar for spikes, but this was about a year ago... it's good for some fun chaos terrain

As for dental floss... well in the grimdark present there is not much dental floss either... although I do enjoy my tea tree toothpicks from time to time... what can I say I like spikey things.

The trick to doing cracked wall plaster is to carve some lath boards as well. WHen using foamcore, just leave the cardboard layer on, instant 3D plaster layer, peel it off for the lath and brick/stud layers.

@ Camkierhi: Excellent work on your shrine so far I like it, It's great to see everyones work slowly coming together.
My shrine's now in the later painting stage's, but It's far from finished, I still have a lot of work to do... A lot of slow, steady, tedious work to do,
But I suppose you can't rush perfection

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away...

Some excellent work showing up on this thread as expected...

I will admit that i'm struggling to even make a start on my entry - the original idea of a war memorial is way too ambitious and I don't have any suitable minis to populate it...

I either need to go back to the drawing board or admit defeat and allow RL to beat me down...

Never admit defeat though - I have a week to get something done and I intend to do just that - just not sure what at the moment...

Fair enough, but keep in mind, for you, there is always the obligatory 1 week extension, it won't be a problem if people need a bit more time. It's tradition!

I'm banking on the extension too, takes me into first week of school holidays! Still, got some riveting done (seriously - can't have a contest entry without rivets), and have a plan for a sacrificial pit. I reckon that I may have found a use for all those tank commander bodies (we're sinking!)
