Thanks to Cambius over at Warseer for finding out:
Seems the Citadel battle mat is no longer available in Europe and removed from the GW webstore.
Still available in North America and Australia, so grab them while they are still available (or buy alternatives like from Hotz mats ):

One of GW's best value products. Tough, high quality and not too expensive. Shame to see it go.

Hotz mats are great, but a lot more expensive.

Strangely enough, it's probably one of the only things that I feel is worth the money I'm paying for it

I picked one up a few months ago, and it's been fantastic Might pick up a second one and do something similar to BoW's first tablescape video they did...

It's a great product, but to be realistic there are less expensive alternatives out there. If you want to go really cheap, but two yards of green felt for about 8 bucks from a fabric store.

My old FLGS has their temporary boards made with felt, and my new FLGS uses the battle mats. The felt got used 2 times a week and over the course of 2 years I saw them become just utter trash... The battlemats which have been in use for just as long and get used 3 to 4 times a week are still in near mint condition.

But it all depends on what you're looking for.

I actually like my Wargamers Gaming Mat that I got from the Warstore. 4x6 green crushed felt, 25 bucks.

I personally like felt from the fabric store because for a very inexpensive price I can have several mats that fit varying battlefields. I have a 4-foot cardboard tube I roll them all around for storage.

You don´t really believe GW would OOP one of their bestselling products? The last time it disappeared we got a slightly larger product after a few weeks, so it might be just a production change. (Old mats are 1-2 inches smaller than new mats. Our club has like 16 of them and you can clearly see which are of the old and which are of the newer run).

I would believe that they are tryimg to push sales of RoBboards.

Pretty much what I was thinking. Doesn't really seem that far fetched these days.

Well, the business decision here might be to withdraw the mat, see if the boards sell more, and re-introduce the mat if they don't.

Well thanks , but I think if they are doing that, and board sales didn't increase, they certainly would bring the mat back, assuming they make any profit atall on it. Which I'm sure they do

I'm not entirely sure that in these days of $75 Land Raiders that GW doesn't simply think that everyone who is "appropriately" playing their games should be doing that gaming on the Realm of Battle boards instead of fabric mats - price difference be damned.

This is the same company that thinks this:

should cost 712 dollars.

Hm. Worth grabbing one, you think? I've got a desert-coloured Geohex mat I bought years ago, but sadly it seems that company is no more.

Hmm...I never bought a mat.

Doesn't anyone still apply hard wearing green or brown industrial carpet to 1/2 thick plywood anymore?

It's not that difficult and not all that expensive. I use two 4x4 boards that move all over the free world with me. One side of each is green and the other side is brown. Just flip it over when you want a change.

I did buy two Zuzzy mats for urban ruin battles, but I probably should have just looked around for black carpet. Someone must make it for that niche market.

If you see one, grab it. They're great quality, made with a heavy fabric backing so they're not going to wear easily. One of the best grass battlemats on the market, and GW's best priced product.
