A new audio drama by Mr Reynolds.....

The Story

A Great Hunt has been called, and Kor’sarro Khan, Master of the Hunt, gathers the White Scars for war. They shall track their prey across the galaxy, never resting until his head is taken to be displayed in the Chapter’s fortress-monastery on distant Chogoris. But this prey will be a challenge, for he is as fast and as cunning as the sons of Jaghatai, and as deadly a foe as the khan has ever faced. For on this Great Hunt, the White Scars seek the daemon prince known only as Doomrider.

About this Edition

A Space Marines Battle Audio Drama by Josh Reynolds

.. Doomrider ?!?! Good grief never saw that one coming !

Will this ever be printed in some form, you people think? White Scars vs Doomrider sounds too cool, but I can not stand audio dramas.

I'm sure we'll eventually be offered a script version bundled into some anthology

and also a short-storyisation bundled into another anthology

but probably not for a year or two

Wow. Does that attitude cover up your inability to understand the very simple concept of what he was saying? Is it really so hard to put together that he is referring to a lack of regular MMPBs that appeal to a lot of more casual readers?

If I said Black Library was shooting themselves in the foot by eliminating their book store shelf presence, would I need to explain that the bullet is metaphorical? This discussion pops up all the time...because there are so many people who pop into this thread for the first time to discuss how disappointed they are in Black Library, and how they have stopped buying. So, ebooks or not, there is an identifiable problem. But just go one claiming that the existence of fan-trolling new product negates the impact of wave after wave of lost customers.

His dislike of us non-device users and stance on this all is quite well documented, just put him on ignore.

I'm curious, how many of us went in for Macragge's Honour?

I did, though feel shameful for admitting spending that much on a book.

I did but I'm a huge ultramarines fan and I already collect the absolute editions of comics anyway so the price isn't that bad compared to what I'm used to.

Is anyone else getting a real sense of... desparation from Black Library about Macragges Honour?

I've read Dan's comic stuff before, not impressed, so giving it a pass until whenever we're allowed to get a more normal version of this one. I'm curious about this, but not that curious in all honesty, as I'm not a big comic fan to begin with.

Yep, they are reminding us too oftern to pick it up before its gone while if it did sell like a super limited whatever is supposed to them they should be gloating about how quickly it sold out.

GW are doing the same thing with those chaos collections from a month ago, all over Christmas and just aftet they were reminding us they still existed when something like that should have sold out well before then.

In other news any idea when the next ghosts book is due?
I started reading first and only again last night and for the first time in like 6+ months I'm enjoying BL stuff again.

It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

I'd much rather see the next Bequin book get announced sooner or later.

That too, but I imagine Gaunts Gosts is much further along the pipeline.

Of course we would probably know for both already if BL didn't adopt GWs 'tell em a week before' policy

Amazon has The Warmaster down for a July 2014 release. That's the hardback version (£13.81 advance). However depending on your choice of format how long will it take to transit via Trade to Mass Market paperback?

Blurb from the site:

After the success of their desperate mission to Salvation's Reach, Colonel-Commisar Gaunt and the Tanith First race to the strategically vital forge world of Urdesh, besieged by the brutal armies of Anarch Sek. However, there may be more at stake than just a planet. The Imperial forces have made an attempt to divide and conquer their enemy, but with Warmaster Macaroth himself commanding the Urdesh campaign, it is possible that the Archenemy assault has a different purpose - to decapitate the Imperial command structure with a single blow. Has the Warmaster allowed himself to become an unwitting target? And can Gaunt's Ghosts possibly defend him against the assembled killers and war machines of Chaos?

As for Macragge's Honour, could it actually sell out? Too expensive for my tastes (however I did pay the full price for 2000AD's Zenith collection) so I didn't look too closely. Was it limited numbers or a limited time to order...then they print that many?

As for First and Only, SFX consider it a classic as they have given a retrospective review and comments in this months magazine (written by Guy Haley)

I think with Macragge's Honour they are trying to bank on the popularity of the series and hoping that it, like every other super-limited Horus Heresy release, will strike gold.

I think BL is maintaining something of a print on demand for these, with an extra lot printed for events and whatnot (Cleared out the stock room and we found a box of these, let the fighting commence!)

I look forward to seeing the price of the standard version. The previewed art looks good, I took advantage of the "rarer than rocking horse poo" free wallpaper they produced, I'm an Ultramarines player and I am interested, just not at that price.

The limited to 10 000 Zenith collection was something I paid £100 pre-order for but that story was a known quantity and I WANTED it. Not as much as the people who have been paying £500 for it on eBay mind you!

2000AD though has proven itself and I can most certainly see why people would gladly pay that much for a collection or anthology from them.

BL on the other hand isn't exactly known to a lot these days for comics, this despite having run their own bi-monthly comic series about a decade ago which spawned several okay series before quitting and handing it over to BOOM! for a while. So, forking over cash for this, nope, not for me. I love the Horus Heresy series, I really do, but for them to hop back into an abandoned medium, looks iffy to me.

I don't know, will this be a reboot of BL doing comics again or just a one off? Red, help?

Seems to me it's a medium they'd be interested in doing stuff in -- graphic novels one means here. I can't see them going back to a monthly publishing release any time soon.

.. Long term -- and I mean LONG term here --- guess maybe they could do something digitally but that's pie in the sky speculation.

A digital return to Warhammer Monthly maybe?

Dang it, nostalgia hits again. While I was more of an Inferno! fan myself, I do picked up the odd issue of Warhammer Monthly here and there, I do miss the old grimy black and white serials they did.
