I know people have done the best ally combinations over and over, but how about this one. If you can throw two armies together, no restrictions on ally chart, what abusive combinations can you find? Treat them all as Battle Brothers. I'll give two to start:
20 CSM+2 CCW+ MoT+Icon of flame+ Azreal+ DA librarian. a 3+ inv unit and DA librarian can go for divination powers for Presence and more goodies.
Harlequins+fortune/doom farseer+ Ordo Maleus Inquisitor with grenades and presence.

i could imagine C:SM with the new markerli...I mean Tau codex will swat vendetta out of the air, while the new gear would allow SM squads to get charged with multiple overwatch from surrounding fire warriors.

Fortune specifically says Eldar unit. Therefore, no fortuned terminators. Abaddon could get fortune, but hes really not that threatening of a guy for that point cost. Since he would have to be with an eldar unit, he would remove fleet and could only assault one unit a turn. Plus abbadon would get challenged out pretty easy since you dont want the farseer to be challenged and die with only that 4+ inv and T3.
Do tau markerlights work with other codexes? I would bet money they dont as tau have BB currently. Overwatch wargear thingy might be very useful for guard tho, since you could protect guard vehicles. I dont have a copy of the tau codex tho.

No, the book was carefull to say on page 68 that the unit spending a markerlight must be from codex tau empire.

Grey Knights+IG
50 man lascannon/plasma blobb with coteaz. Yeah just deep strike near that.
Really coteaz with any large unit from IG. IG 3x medusa heavy artillery carriages equals really dead enemies.
Add the grand master making vehicles scoring and the servo skulls reducing scatter to 1d6 then we will get really ridiculous.
Necron+IG if they were battle brothers. blobbs with all of those USRs that the named necron HQ can give.
The Necron+D eldar mentioned aboe would be really ridiculous.
Eldar+Grey Knights would be brutal. Imagine scoring jetlocks and harlequins with grey knight grenades. Add in the 2+ save on many of the grey knight HQ and you will have some "fun".

I have Eldar, I'm tempted to start getting Tau as they are "battle-brothers".
Eldrad + Divination (Perfect Timing or Forewarning 4i save) means either less points and shots spent on Markerlights or Fire Warriors surviving return fire?
...or Forewarning on some cheap garbage Kroot, they can be meancing when they don't die to ...everything... maybe?
I gotta read my shiny new Tau book some more.

Dark Eldar with Necrons. Eternal Nightfighting that DE suffer no penalty for.
No one seems to be picking up on this and all I see are one off units of a large guardsman blob with Fearless and a 4++.
Taking Imotek and some sonar pulses with a few choice necron choices as an allied detachment for DE would be brutal. Nightfighting automatically on the first turn, 4+ to keep going every turn, when it ends use sonar pulses to keep it up.
While nightfighting, all DE skimmers have a 2+ cover save, DE troops in the open have a 4+ cover save, behind anything they have a 2+ cover save. Not 1 large unit but the entire army.
They dance about staying 24-36" away while pummeling you, and DE can pack a ton of nasty heavy weapons into an army.
Now this idea does suffer from cover ignoring weaponry, but not much. even tau dont have everything able to ignore cover/nightfighting, and those things that do can be picked off early.
the list also goes first 75% of the time

On top of that you actually roll greater or equal to the number to make it continue, so it's 2+ on the next turn 3+ 4+ etc...
Have a Chronotron as well so you can reroll that too.
And you get lightning too.
I actually thought of that then I saw that you can't ally them and I was like aw...

As an Eldar player I say a unit of wraithguard with conceal lock with shadowsun (stealth and shroud) along with eldrad having fortune.... and I need to get back to assembling my allies contingent of tau...
Oh and the most abusive bs op you can get is nids as allies for anyone... One allies detachment would be swarmlord doom in a spod tervigon and devourer guants in a spod and gargoyles with all upgrades. About 1000 points and you have the most broken addition to any army. An I win melee with swarmy and doom, free amazing troops and gargoyles that are stupid good for 8 points. He'll add a trygon just to be mean. Basically adding nids to any army would break the game

The special rules they can give the other army (fearless, tank hunter, etc) increase the overall effect tremendously.
While it may not look like a good mix, the whole is far greater than the sum of its parts.

For team tournaments which do not require we follow the ally matrix my buddy and I play necrons/daemons.
The necrons bring Imotekh and a chronometron, some flyer support and two C'Tans, one of which with stealth. I bring a GUO, some plaguebearers, and to winged nurgle princes, maxing out the psychic powers and double greater gifts everywhere. Nearly everything gets a 2+ cover save all the time due to the night, and five monstrous creatures, three of them rolling biomancy and greater rewards for durability hits like a ton of bricks.

The problem is.. that's a lot of points for a unit that doesn't really do anything. Thats 500 points for a unit thats only purpose is to sit around to hold an objective.
If i'm going to use Shadowsun I'd put her in a unit that has firepower.

Nid+Nid is essentially 2k+ point nid army. If you max out all the slots like it was said, you are playing ~6k points. At 6k points, nids lose simply to the quantity of firepower being thrown at each unit. It ends up like a zergling rush vs a horde of marines, just wave after wave breaking on the ranged firepower. Wraithguard deathstar is ~750+ pts will just be kited until turn ~4. At that point it has 2 rounds of shooting to try to make a difference and is probably the only unit left on the board as the enemy can just ignore it. Im liking the night fighting-heavy cron+ DE. You can run the normal shooty DE and then melee heavy crons. Let DE soften the targets before taking anything on. Searchlights arent a hard counter, since you essentially lose the shots of the unit lighting the target. Also, the list is still pretty much what DE and crons would bring anyways. Fixes the problems of crons being unable to tackle MCs easily, and the fragility of DE vehicles nicely. I would like to see a nid list that would actually be OP allied with anyone. Im not seeing any synergy between them and another army that would truly fix nid's problems. Maybe nid+DE beast spam all over the place (beast packs w FNP+Raveners supporting)? Throw enough targets the enemy cant deal with them all. Still not sure why people exalt nids so much, the army really falls apart with any psychic defense or concentrated fire, but thats another topic. The FMC+ Crons is also a good combo. FMCs can fly to area terrain for a 4+ to 2+ cover save. Wraithwing supports your assault and you have a bunch of rock hard units smashing things apart in no time. Crashing is still a problem, but at least you can survive easier after that. DE+Eldar doesnt work like that. Tank hunter is only given to aspects via Fuegan (from the FAQ). Fearless isnt that big of a buff when its on the slow avatar. Also, the combination is currently possible via the ally matrix and isnt broken unless running beast pack, which more people are building to counter.
