Magnetize them. 1/8" and 1/16" magnets. Use any one you want. Also there should be a list in the codex with pictures. I'm not 100% familiar with the new codex as I'm still reading, but the last one had it

Sadly there's no list in the new codex with pictures anymore =( I've never magnetized before but always wanted to, maybe I'll give it a shot =P

I am facing the same problem ATM...

Which "real world" bit relates to the "game-wise" support systeem???

Any link to a picture or something? (And yeah, the Codex definitely doesn't answer the question )

If it's not in the codex then you're not going to find any other resource telling you what's what, and if you did it would likely be fan-made and unofficial. I think the idea now is that you can use any of the bits to represent whatever support system you want, and they've created a whole bunch of new bits just for added variety. There's no "official" velocity tracker or anything like that, they're all just generic "support system".

Personally I don't think I'd bother modeling the support systems anyway. I never really liked the look of them (some of the new radome-looking ones are kinda cool though) and in my opinion they're just too much. Crisis suits are goofy models regardless but I always thought the giant, bulby antennae stuck to their backs just made them look worse.

There has never been a full, accurate set of support systems provided. The Crisis models are 12 years old and didn't even cover the original 3rd edition items, let alone the 6th edition stuff.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Thanks for the replies... I'll be modelling them depending on the inspiration, then !

You may want to browse eBay under "Tau Bits". A lot of those bits sellers have everything named based on what the community decided which piece was. Just a thought.

Or ignore the "community" and pick the ones you like best

I believe the one with the little bumps and antenna is the multi-tracker.

Yeah, I did "google" that, but the opinions seem to vary from place to place... So I'll rather be following Flinty's advice below !!!

All of the Tau support systems are different variants on communications and rangefinding gear, so it shouldn;t really matter what you use. Also Tau tech is supposed to evolve rapidly, so different marques of the same sub-system could conceivably be housed in different casings and work in different ways. Does the multi-tracker use radar, laser or visual systems to track and designate targets? Is the communications via satellite or local radio or a mixture? Who knows and does it matter?

Very few are defined now, but all were in the old book.

Ironically, most of the defined ones are gone (multi trackers, for example, are built in).

The only old ones that I think are still around are the target locks, and command nodes.

This is the target lock:

This was the multi tracker

But a lot of the new ones are not defined, as others had said.
