I thought about making one of those signs that you see out in front of businesses with the arrow and a letter board. Figured it would be a neat little piece the gangers could have fun with spelling.

Edit: made a third base in the brick format

Edit 2: with the forthcoming marine codex(and me using an airbrush) i've been thinking of redoing my marines into a different chapter. Should I stick with my own chapter "Theophony", or I've been thinking of doing Iron Hands (love Bionics and servo skulls), Salamanders , or Do a different army like the Scythes of the Emperor (Really love the color). Or do you guys have other suggestions. Feel free to throw out Ideas as I can always add bionics to them, count as sallies, and not totally sold on the scythes.

Last Option is Do Not-Grey Knights. I have my leviathan Crusader calling me saying "you have that Airbrush now.....PAINT ME!!!!!!!!"

He'll have to be satisfied with just being primed today. My kids are off school today and Monday, taking them to a pool today for a few hours. Tomorrow is busy with six flags(amusement park), and birthday parties. Sunday is all church and more birthday parties. between family and friends we have 7 this week. Monday is a Holiday so the wife is out of school also. I start back in school on tuesday

The dream forge stuff is beautiful. They should be shipping the 15mm crusaders, 28mm mortis, and the 28mm weapon arms soon. They are overdue, but are supposedly on their way to Utah now, just waiting for the alternate weapon arms to arrive. The 15mm are the same size as the dreadknight....coincidence??? I think not as the original 15mm were larger .

Anyway....

As far as painting marines goes. You can pretty much paint them how you like, from what I can tell. Then you can just say "Today, these are counts as Ultramarines/Salamanders/IF/..."

And if you've got as many marines as you seem to, then you've probably got all the possible options available for any unique chapter traits...

Other than that, I can't really give any advice on what chapter to choose, but I hope for something unique.

Actually I think you should go down the addmech road... I bet that would be right up your alley... The leviathan needs to be painted. Period! And that new base look stunning!

@Dr. H, yeah it nice to be able to counts as, that's why I think I'll go the scythes direction. Very little don with them, and I have 4-5 times as many models as they are supposed to have left alive.
@Vik, admech is so very tempting, but I have these pesky marines scattered all around. Just pulled the primed leviathan inside, I think it will look great in the yellow and black of the scythes .

My story for it/them will be a knight household was on one of the planets that the scythes tried to defend from the hive fleet. The planet was consumed, and so were the pilots of the knights/titans, but enough of the knights/titans survived the battle because the pilots ejected themselves before the end so the machines could live/not be destroyed. After all, why would the tyrannies destroy lifeless metal. Other worlds had been scoured of life, but buildings and machines had survived. After the fleet had been destroyed the worlds had been salvaged of usable material for the imperium, the marines took the weapons and armor of their fallen comrades, and also the knights and titans that fought beside them. The machines have been sanctified and reprinted into the scythes colors as the blood of both armies is now one.

That's my idea, lets see if I stick to it .

Yes he can have two guns instead

And yes those are 28/30mm figs at its feet so this will count as an allied warhound Titan, 750pts down, well at least primary colors applied.

@dsteingass, the knight was all airbrushed to that point I showed.
@LDD, now what would they have to show, or do about it.
@shaso, I'm afraid you'll have to build up your own forces, mine need to be different.
@vik, their color scheme is black helmet, shoulders, arms and legs. Their chest and groin are yellow. I've seen models with white or red helmets as well. Since they're such a rare chapter I haven't seen an agreement on weapon color, but I think it's supposed to be yellow.

Been hand painting parts this morning, nothing really to show.

Here is current level, I haven't even started with the lead belcher on the metals yet.
Top down view to show what I'm doing with shoulders. Not sure if yellow stripe will become white or red.

The black part will get the yellow crossed scythes and a heraldry for the princept.

Not much of an update, too many parties yesterday, and one more this afternoon, and one tomorrow for all the birthdays in our families.

In the mean time got a supply drop yesterday, an overdue eBay order.when a U.S. company says 3-5 days it shouldn't be more than a week should it? How much do you guys ding people for on eBay for something like that?

These are true 1mm beads, and it did come with a free brush so.....

Anyway I did paint the crusaders head all black last night, makes the eyes more Erie. Did a few strokes of metal before I started to yawn to much.

@dave, yes, these seem to all be the same size too. The others I got were varied sizes and some weren't even round.
@kc, looks like it may have been the problem with the post office, not the seller, the package sat for over a day at one post office.

Family coming over shortly, hopefully will put more pics up later tonight. I redid the shoulder pads almost all black, and almost finished one of the gun arms.

Got some work done before the kids got up. Here's the current state of the leviathan.

I think I'll have to work on learning OSL for the sword, which is supposed to be plasma based.
The shield will get redone, just did a quick chapter symbol, I'll be trying to get the scythes emblem printed from the BOLS template.
The gun is pretty much done unless I do some weathering.

ALWAYS pay the extra few bucks for Priority mail whenever possible. It sounds like the USPS is even making that service better now too, with free insurance and such along with the tracking.

Is that the real colour in the photo, looks more of an orange-y yellow than I was expecting? Or is it just my tv?

@Dr. H, the color is straight averland sunset, a little darker than what I want, but I need to get the basecoating solid first then I'll do layers of a lighter color.
@dave, shipping was free, and the total was $3.47 or the rivets. I kept myself busy with other stuff while waiting, and they didn't have options for better shipping.

So I got more work done before making them breakfast this morning. They were up late stow of the three kept in.

Not sure of the black shield on the chest, but unsure if I should go white for contrast, gunmetal to tie it in or just do yellow. I might even do red with a cog pattern for the adeptus aspect. Any thoughts?

The plasma color I'm thinking of doing will probably be a dark to light orange.

@Graven, thanks im thinking red as well. i can always cover it with black again if needed.

I've taken a bit of a break from painting, see this model was originally intended to be lite up. Well I got so excited to build it I didn't think about running wires. Well now i got my drill out. Here's the result.

Red lights in the helmet for the eyes, thinking of putting a white light in the targeted over the right eye.
Also ran the second red light loosely to the left arm where it back lights behind the shield.
The other set of red lights I've drilled through the back and up through the smokestacks. I just wish they flickered.

The other option that I drill a hole in the chest and run the second light into the gut shining down on the spine and pelvis hydraulics, like so.

I'm leaning towards the second option as that will still allow the left arm to be switched out to the other options.

I could make the gut light purple along with the targeted being purple. I also have green lights. Each light set has two bulbs on it, and I'd like to limit it to two colors.

Purple goes well with yellow.
But see how it looks to you before committing. Light behaves differently to paint with colours.

Yeah, lighting the intricate, inner workings would look cool and highlight the details there.
