Nice score on free bits and foam - I used to get loads of packing, especially sheets of expanded polystyrene when I worked in the stockroom of a big department store - only recently threw a load of it out as I'd had it for sooo long that it was getting knocked about and broken up.

Yes, truck is out of the fence and it is mended .

I found what boxes the foam came from, but they were damaged, but now I know what to look for, and they are about 4" tall, so it would be excellent box for minis .

The family woke me up and took me out for breakfast (would rather be sleeping), then we were going to the science center, but forgot our passes at home for parking and the omnimax movie it would have been too much to shell out in cash, so we will reschedule for another time. Went looking at cars on a whim, it took everything I had to not buy a new car, thankfully we didn't bring my car for them to appraise as a trade in. Home for a bit, then the wife and I have date night tonight and the kids are getting a sitter. The sitter can only stay for a few hours, so its dinner, and just some alone time out in the grown up world. I must be a cheap date because she's not even springing for the movie .

My roommate works at the local Lowe's, he has seen the purchases of the pipe sections rising, so they are buying replacements, we ran our kitchen sink at thread thin trickle and our pipes are good. helps to have experience in avoiding pipe busting freezes

One of our plumbing guys would attach his welder tho the lines and set it on low. Pipes were thawed in just under 5 minutes. He made a killing on the side during winter time.

Couldn't sleep, though I wasn't feeling great earlier and took a three hour nap (unprecedented for me), and would have slept longer, but the kids were fighting and kicking each other . So with everyone asleep I popped down to the basement to paint......Bacon.


The start of my bacon convoy. I've got 30 of these guys to paint up, and 1 old pot of paint , guess I'll be hitting the flgs tomorrow while everyone is at school. I also start classes tomorrow night, so I'll be using the school computers to print out some fun stuff .

I've got an idea for something on my leviathan house, but need to do some research on it before going there.

Well, printed out a PDF at school last night to build Death Star turbolaser towers, but when I built one this morning it was tiny , so I used the basic ideas Panic Used on his towers and guessed at some of the measurements and got this.

Still needs detailing, but I might try and cast one before I go further because building it was a pain in the .

I am sooooooo wanting to build a Death Star and a trench run, but I better get a few games in first , I might hate it, but I haven't heard anyone say anything bad about it after they've played it. The only thing stopping me going crazy is were probably buying a new-used car in the next couple weeks.

I just wish there was a battlestar galactica version of the game... but then I would be divorced, broke, and living in a cardboard box the shape of the galactica .....wait that last bit sounds awesome .

there is a fella here that is actually building a battle star galactica... tho I can´t remember who that is...

a complete death star is something I am really looking forward to...you be sure of that... if I had some left over money I would totally beat you to that build myself...

the tower´s basic shape looks very good... tho what I miss still is this blocky puzzle look...


are you planning on adding layers? or will you paint these lines later on...er...on...?^^

I'm considering carving in the blocky bits as I don't have anything thin enough to do the panels justice, that would also survive casting if I go that route.

I've seen the battle star galactic a build as well vik, it's a nice kit and I've been eyeballing it. But what I really want is a set of all the battle star kits in the same scale as the x-wing set. I realize the galactica would be too large, but even having a board edge with the landing pod of the galactic a would be cool to have a last minute escape to the landing pod before she jumps. one guy has started to do vipers from the keychain for battle star galactica, but they are about $10.00 each, which isn't bad compared to the x-wing figs, but doesn't include a base, the stand, counters, or the action sequence wheel. Those are all things that I could build/print, but sourcing enough and getting matching raiders and raptors might be hard.

horse puckey. for the turret use paper, cereal box card or thin plastic from chinese take out container lids.

if I use paper then when the turrets are destroyed I can set them on FIRE

in other news, another night of work during flu season means another night of scrounging IV bits , MAN I LOVE FLU SEASON

More free tubing, the needle caps for turrets, the pink and clear connector for tank boggies, and I just found the other bit which is a piercing piece, but the caps control flow and look like excellent bits for scratch building.

More in the morning. They have allowed me as much overtime as I would like, only picked a little up today, might go for 3-4 extra hours a day to bank some cash before we buy our new ride.

Haha I don't know how payable a BSG game would be, think of the buckets of dice you'd have to roll to defend against a fighter assault!

But Dave I have buckets of dice from years of RPGS and warhammer, an now mantic, which pride themselves on needing buckets. One of my common units attacks with 20d6 in a normal turn, and if I hi from the side it's 40d6, and if its the rear flank they are 60d6 .

I just had an interesting thought... how about you take nylon string and attach each x-wing and tiefighter and whatnot to it instead of using clear stands... then...attach the strings to nails and a soft , maybe foam board to have as a means of support...your flyers will be hanging from the ceiling...instead of standing on the table... I imagine epic swinging and turning battles in the er...sky...^^

Well I don't know if a tree makes a sound in the woods when it falls, and I can't tell you about my neighbors cause all they did was more trimming. They should have felled them. Oh well.

Genuinly glad for you dude, though I have to say I really like Viks idea, you have to do a stop motion thingy with all the star wars, The models are probably as good as they made the early movies with.

Well if I can get my brother in law to play it then I'll make sure to do a battle report and take camera shots from the same spot each time maybe I can enlist my kids into doing some acting for scene cut aways. Next on my list is buildings proper table to play on.

I work in a Hospital as a janitor, the politically correct term (empire designation) is Environmental Services Floor Technician. I prefer janitor . Our trash guy ( same designation) has been out with a torn bicep, so I have been grabbing the trash and recycling for the last few weeks. Why am I telling you all this....well, one thing I keep my eye out for are these sheets of foam that the cardiac catheters come packed in. Hey are roughly 3/8" thick and 10"x 15", I was going to use them for packing miniatures, but then today thought "they look like outer space"

So a test shot as backdrop.

Well I've had my eye out or a while and I wondered how much I've brought home.....

That's my 4'x 6' gaming table with the pieces loose layer on top. I'm thinking I'll cut a sheet of plywood and then spray glue the foam to it. then I can take it off for when I play KoW.
