So , whilst not exactly bored of cutting flooring for the Zone Hulk tiles , I did fancy a break.

Here it is , a poorly made and smashed to bits ebay Defiler turned into something much more pretty !

Quite a lot still to do. Those with sharp eyes will notice a million hold lines and poor joints ! Ha , going to Nurgle it up with the Dremel tool and a ton of green stuff…..

Thanks mate, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out so far, once details like piping and greenstuff on on it should be sorted, but for now it's on hold , got a bit of a work trip to do , so it's back to dwarfs for my boy, a couple of Death Guard try outs and some ninja!!!

So , today I seriously was going to weed the garden, but the weeds will still come back , so I added some" rust "( fine sand/baking soda) and greenstuff and various other bits to the Defiler.

Over the last couple of weeks I've got a fair few Dwarfs done , tho the old , pre slotta base Citadel types are a real pain as the details can be quite indistinct and they are all individuals, making batch painting problematic.

Favorites are the Empire "Landsknecht" style dwarfs and the Clint Eastwood " Dwarf with No Name "

And some random Ninja's.

Really love those last two dwarves, you've done those old minis proud. I'll bet they weren't painted that well in the promotional images

Dude! nice Dwarves! they are honestly some beautiful paint jobs right there! I love the Ninjas and the really dark ones (with the white beard) all the skin tones are great (and you want ME to paint you faces! Bah...you're insane)

Well thanks Nerdy, but to be honest my skin technique is Elf flesh base, Argrax Earthshade was and a bit of maroon wash here and there !

Today I couldn't get going thru my hangover. Managed to prime the Defiler, found a couple of random German zombies that look like they might be fun to paint and put together some Anvil industry infantry. I wasn't keen on the original, moulded on heads so snipped them off and added some Kromlech German gas mask heads, reckon they are going to be pretty cool as additions to my Nurgle guard.

Got nothing done to speak of today, Little H went ferreting around in the attic and "found" these blasts from the past.

Then he wanted to build a Dwarf mountain Hold with all the Halls and everything , in an afternoon, using up the last of my pink foam. Got a little stressful I can tell you , and we don't have anything now but a pile of foam chips…...

Finally got to sit and do some proper work (!) on my resin LandRhino's . I frisking love these.

I'm magnetising all of them ( I have four standard ones) except the two I'll build as stand in Vindicators, so I can use them as all normal Rhino variants , Whirlwinds etc etc, also going to build a couple of straight MICV variants with ACAV style gun shields.

Still some details to go on these and some gap filling, but wanted to get some pics posted !

Discuss !

I also just bought some resin bits from OneManNoodles , a regular on Dakka.

He has ebay listings here : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221415586128?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649

( thats a defiler for sale but will get you in the right area for the rest of it ! ) or look for him on Dakka.

These bits are, quite frankly , indispensable , if like me your mind can plan and invent better things than your feeble plasticard skills can create !

If you plan on building anything from a building , vehicle or space ship / space hulk these parts will make the detailing so much easier and way more believable.

The resin is in general well cast and bubble free , there are the odd one here and there but easily fixed. Its hard resin and cleans up easily.

I particularly like the door keypads and the large box with the chamfered corner that is so gagging to be made into a weapon system.

I've no particular axe to grind for Noodles , but his stuff is great and he's a nice bloke too ! Check it out.

Land Rhinos look awesome. Really love what you are doing with them.

Mortar team looks ace, the basing is great, can't wait to see it painted.

Thanks very much for the plug on the bits, I should just mention that the ebay link won't work to those outside of the UK, ebay gives me a headache, but I am updating my swapshop thread with all the relevant info so you contact me through dakka if you are interested.

Thanks mate !

Well today i intended to do a bit of gap filling on the Landrhinos. So obviously instead I converted another Defiler from the depths of my bit skip.

The arms are magnetised so I can swap them around with the other Defiler. I like how the Demolisher cannon turned out, and considering the amount of parts its made from its all pretty much in line!

I plan on adding some smaller weapons to the missile launcher arm and a complete new spare arm made of lots of "fused" weapons, Obliterator sty-lee.

Maybe fill some gaps tomorrow.

Also slightly gutted as I managed to burn out my Dremel on a metal working project so no more Dremel "effects" on my Nurgle vehicles. Trying to make up for it with fine sand and some greenstuff on top once the sand sets.

Got me mojo back and had a good morning with some paint.

Base coated my 2 Defilers , which I'm intended to paint up like the two Chaos Marine Test minis. White/ Pale Cream and Green heavily chipped and weathered.
Thoughts ?

I also weathered with oils two Landspeeders, rusting them up quite a lot to match my Dreds and Landraiders, you may argue that machines that fly made of steel wouldn't fly well but it looks good enough for 40k !

And experimented with oils on an Assault squad , tho I'm not sure you can really tell any difference on troop sized models.

Still lots to do , smudges to clean up and details etc but I'm well on the way to clearing a space on my work bench !

YES! they look Ace dude! if you did the lenses in a brighter colour they'd look even more wicked-er I love the weathering and the bases, very nicely done. this squad coming into a ZM board as a boarding assault through debris would work for me! :-)

Those assault marines look really great so far. A nice green on those lenses would really make them pop.

Excellent weathering as always especially the speeders!

Good to see you back around

Thanks dude, lens will be a green / turquoise eventually . I have a squad of homemade scouts and Breacher marines in mind for the ZM board, which would require your heads !!!

Thanks buddy, yeah its been too long , severe lack of drive going on at my house lately !!!

REALLY wanted to finish the Landspeeders and maybe the Jump Marines tonight, but No, after acquiring some junk , super crappy, rigid pose 1980's Empire Halbardiers when I took my son to the local FLGS, I obviously had to provide access to all my secret bits in my Bitz Skip and create a whole new unit for my lads embryonic Empire army.
Good times.

95% done on the Landspeeders. Bases need a bit of work and some clumps of foliage but more or less there.

The standing gunner will get his head from Nerdfest ( crikey)

Thought I'd go back to a bit of old school brush work on the lens's and engines rather than airbrush them , think that may have been a mistake. but done.

Crew look ok, not sure if they might need a bit of rust on the chips too ?

But all in all I"m calling them done.

EXCEPT for the horror that the Matt varnish I just sprayed all over both of them has come up super SUPER gloss, as did the next coat of matt varnish to try and fix the previous drama.
WTF ????

Also the lens, you should do all of yours by brush. Feels much better IMHO.

Thanks fellas, the shine is there , tho I admit the pics came out well ! I'm used to my paint (mainly Tamiya ) being completely, desert dust, matt and there is now a definite "sheen " to them !

Took your advice livanbard , did all the lens and exhausts with a brush. Pics in my Camo marines ? Surely Not…. blog.

If I can just get this Bane / Fell Blade done , I'm good to go on my buckets of other projects.

The FellBlade has been neglected for at least a year but the pin wash and weathering are going to teach me the meaning of patience
