In your opinion, what is the single best piece of wargear, icon, banner, weapon, vehicle upgrade etc. so far in 6th edition.

My vote goes for the Dark Angels Standard of Devastation. Boltguns as salvo 2/4 weapons means that DA players can make then their normal Tactical Marines a terrifying gunline.

I'd say Runes of Warding. I dearly hope it will be gone when the next eldar codex appears...

For special wargear I would probably say something like mindshackle scarabs because of how ridiculous it is in the likelihood of shutting down even super-killy characters from Abaddon to things like the Swarmlord, even making those with force weapons to activate it against themselves.

I like that good 'ol lions roar. 20 points for an assault comib-prazma cannon.

I'll take it.

Well, it has to be the MURDER sword. Because whenever you say it, you have to say MURDER loudly. And it's fun to say that you're going to MURDER your opponent's HQ with the MURDER sword. And even when you're not MURDERing their HQ, it's still a power sword so it can still MURDER some Loyalists before you MURDER the main guy.

I still love my runes of warding. Completely shutting down opposing psykers out of fear of blowing their own heads up is hilarious!

I am ok with them getting nerfed a bit in the new codex, but hopefully just with the range of them. Even I can admit battlefield range is a little silly.

I hope we get the same amount of brand new awesomeness as the other 6th edition codexes have so far though!

I like having a few beast hunter shells. ID tank shells are fun, especially now that EW is rarer on MCs.

Runes of Warding. The threat of this single piece of wargear hitting the table heavily hits the meta.

Nemesis Warding Stave. Cause nothing says "feth you" like a single-wound model taking all 5 of your powerfist wounds...and surviving. For 20 points.

Oh and the Exitus Rifle, cause 4d6+3 armor penetration on a BS8 model is hideous.

I'd have to say Runes of Warding though probably have the biggest impact on a game, even more so than terrain placement and night-fighting.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Definitely Runes of Warding. What other single piece of wargear can completely shut down some opponents' strategies the second they see it on your list?

Funny, I've played Marines for years and never run a single plasma gun on them. I've just never been convinced of their superiority. That being said, I run Salamanders, so my opinion on which special weapon to take is about as biased as it's possible to get.

But on the subject of plasma, my vote has to go to the Pulse Rifle. Hands down the best line-trooper gun. While it doesn't have the Instant Death strength of your lascannons and your missile launchers, or the vaporizing AP of your meltas and your fusion blasters, it makes up for the lack of any of those frills with affordability and quantity. Awesome stuff.

Seems like Mindshackle Scarabs are the consensus, and they are powerful, but pretty limited in the scope of their use.

My vote goes to either

Burning Brand of Skalathrax
Axe of Blind Fury
Plague Mace on a DP

Avoiding Dakka until they get serious about dealing with their troll problem
