Azhags corpse was eaten by Throgg and his crown got stuck on his tusk.

In 40k there are several dead characters. Eldrad, Solar Macharius and any Tau character (if the dating system for the 2nd and 3rd spheres are correctly aligned with Imperial).

Makari was just a Banna Wavva. I think he has a model anyway. I'd rather see the return of the Red Gobbo.

Maybe they could expand on the story of Gorkamorka and the Orks finally finished the idol/ship and got back to fightin' amongst the stars.

Lol. Banna Wav va = Banner Waver (One who waves banners)

The Red Gobba is the leader of the Grot Revolution on Gorkamorka.

Gorkamorka was once a human colony world. A massive Ork ship crashed and destroyed the native life.

The Orks then tried to rebuild their ship using the scrap of the original ship that had scattered all over the planet.

Over the hundreds of years of construction the Orks began to have a scism over the ships purpose. Was it built for Gork... or Mork?

Eventually this lead to massive infighting and eventually "civil" war. The ship was burnned down during the fighting.

Finally when the smoke cleared the Orks desided to call the Ship Gorkamorka. A double effigy to their gods.

Construction continues to this day.

The Box art.

Thanks DeffDred. Yes I like him, he'd be cool. What about a Killa Kan character?

I'd like to see two Grot Characters. A fighty "Boss" one and a "Mek" one.

The Mek one would allow Kanz as Elites or something.

Sounds right, but I'd make the Mek one work like Big Meks do now; one squad as Troops, just for consistency. I heard ruours of a Grot flyer called the Whirybird somewhere too so thats that covered. Drop the runtherds from units and you're away!

Whirlybird: A skimmer transport that can carry only gretchin.

However, since Runtherds are not Gretchin, they won't be able to be carried. And then the Whirlybird will be useless for five years until our favourite company gets around to FAQing it. And then it will say "can carry up to ten models including runtherds" but since you have to have at least eleven units in the mob it'll be useless for another five years on top of that.

But not the runtherd(s) who will get mowed down.
ADL is good yes and its always nice to have some extra Skyfire, but beware of a) Outflankers/Deepstrikers and b) flamers, or worse, outflankers with flamers! (Kommandos with a use for once, or GK Interceptors). Also any flyers that survive may get LOS, as will FMC's

You do know that if they can't see you you can't see them. The line of sight and range for shooting the quad-gun is measured from the model firing it.

Last I checked, grots are Toughness 7 and show up with a few lobbas, kannons or zzap guns.

They are amazing, at Toughness 7.

Never took artillery before, was a speedy player but with the new rules and all the gunlines out there I may look into a battery of artillery

Grots are best in two ways; carpet or objectives.

In missions like Emperor's will or Relic, flood the table with them, target priority goes out the window and your orks will get a cover save.
For kill points, play sneaky, cling to cover and 'snipe' as best you can (flamers first!)
In multi-obj. games, run the carpet but spread it over the board as a horde of grots make a great tarpit as long as you have hitty units close by.

Except that is only when shooting (assuming the artillery gun is still alive).

I actually read a nice review on how to get the most out your Grotz here. It is a little dated but can still be useful.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Is this still a viable tactic (not saying competitive, just viable)?

I face this all the time at our work club. He plays them as green tide. IMO Grots are well worth their points.
- It is entirely possible for a unit of Grots to hold more than one objective at a time.
- Lots of them shooting are as good as IG.
- They make a great screen.
- They make a great tar pit.

One large unit of Grots always ties up at least 1-2 tac squads in the first turn before I can make sure they are no longer a problem. Now if you have a Big Mek with a KFF they now have a cover save!

I would say get a unit of 30 to start with. Proxy them in a test game with a friend if need be. Play them as a screen in front of your army. Keep them shooting and just see how much fun you can have

I love my grots and use ogre knoblars with any spare weapons on them, for there points they make great back field campers and/meat shields for my slugga mobs. Then there's the big guns, I prefer the kannon and add extra crew dirt cheap t7 artillery that shoots as well as ig.
Just so many uses and well worth it.

What if I were place them on a large base and call them Big Gunz? Change the weapons out?

Sorry that's off topic.

What about Big Gunz? As a Gretchin they count right? Are they worth the points? I want to feild them with a Big Mek in mega-armour and benifit from the slow and purposeful.

Big Guns are fantastic value for points, but less fantastic value for slots. If you have the heavy slots free, they're an excellent way to add power to your army on the cheap.

If you only have a few points spare, 29 points gets you a kannon, two gunners, and three ammo runts for maximum efficiency. A nearly invincible weapons platform if you chuck it in cover somewhere, that can threaten tanks, MEQ and light troops

Yea my friend tried to argue that cultists are nothing but bodies like my grots. I said bullsheeet because literally their only downside compared to ork boyz is lack of Shoota and Furious Charge. Pklaw is highly situation now but still a must take, so i wouldnt even compare that.
Higher toughness, T-shirt saves vs none at all, slightly better shooting, and a character that does something? Dont you dare say cultists are just as crappy as grots lol.

Grots are literally the backfield scoring sneaker. Side from manning a Quad gun, you shouldnt ever use more than 1-2 10man groups, held in reserve or camped under a piece of terrain out of sight, and bring them out turn 4-5 to grab things. I love it when i bring out a 10man grot group turn5 and grab an objective after my opponent goes "CRAP! I forgot about those!" lol

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.
