Im no stranger to 6th ed release prices, Tau and chaos are my two armies. Honestly I didnt mind the price hike from either of them and the new models felt more or less fair compared to how big they are. The riptide or fiends, new fliers, none of that stuff really bugged me but....

the price tag on the eldar seems ridiculous... I mean the new eldar flier seems modeled off of the dark eldar one, looks about the same size and everything but is 20 (or more, depending on where your from) $ more for who knows why?
I get the new wraithknight is big, but its price tag is pretty enormous and the only thing i can compare it to is the stompa, (same price, but I think the stompa is way better value). Dire avengers being 5 for space marine price seems a little wierd to me as well, considering 5 lootas (which come with parts to build burnas as well) is still cheaper while being bigger models.

Even with the price hike, every new codex's new stuff in 6th looked cool and flashy to me. It made me want to play against it. This new eldar stuff just makes me feel sorry for people's wallets.

I dont want to complain or say Gamesworkshop is bad or anything like that, I just wanted to say I feel for eldar players looking to get the new stuff.

Eh, I get it from other sites for about 20% cheaper, it'll still hurt, but eldar are my favourtie army, and the new release is the reason im going back to 40k after my hiatus from it. And I plan on buying some boxes of models before the price hike, like dire avengers for example. At their new price tag, I'm expecting them to be the gods of anti-light infanty

Fortunately I own about 40 Dire Avengers, but I'm interested to see that, by mid afternoon today, everywhere (and I mean everywhere, stores, websites the lot) are completely sold out of the old box of 10 Dire Avengers. It's safe to presume, then, that everyone (and again, no exaggeration) is pissed off about the change, as they should be. Hopefully, GW might get enough stick that they realise they're doing something wrong. Probably not, but hopefully.

Well, prices seem to go up faster than ever.
I have a rather complete gathering of Eldar models. In the new release I find that the Wrightknight is a bit ridiculous. Too big and too pricey. I can already see some players in an RTT "hiding behind" their two or three Wraithknights.

Luckily the new plastic wraithguard is pretty fantastic. So that is the silverlining.

Also FW makes fantastic wraithseer and flyers to put in the army. You could always use one of those flyers for a counts as.

Going from $200au for 5 to $55au for 5 can hardly be seen as a bad thing.

The squadrons offer a decent discount, and the Wraithknight is holyballshuge, so there's the plus side. The characters are your run of the mill prices for GW, which are high, but not insane. Wraithguard are a steal compared to their old price, and reasonable for the size and quality of the miniatures. The fighter is a bit overpriced, but not as bad as the Ravenwing aircraft that DA have. The only thing that I find extremely egregious is the Dire Avengers change, which is frankly pretty heinous. A 100% price increase isn't excusable for anything.

wraith models are a great deal, but everything else hurts. The Wraithknight is a knight class titan, so 115 is actually cheap considering the revenant is 3x that and only 2" taller. War walkers are a nice drop in price considering my corsairs need about 5 more to run 3k armies effectively. Dire avenger are flat out stupid. who is going to buy that? The old 10 man DA kit is one of the best in the game due to all the bits you can use for other things. I have bought about 4 of those kits to use in everything from warlocks to rangers to corsairs to shining spears.

So is everyone going wraith Iyanden then? I know that the prices were the only the stopping me from starting eldar back in 5th-6th ed because i wanted an Iyanden army.

I'm cautiously optimistic for the Eldar.

The Wraithguard look pretty neat and my next purchase was going to be a couple of War Walkers anyway, so I'm set.

Personally I think the Wraithknight is a little over the top and won't be purchasing one. The Dire Avengers on the other hand... I'm going to continue doing what I've always done and just use standard Guardians in an inverted paint scheme with helmetless heads. Since 40k dictates: The more skilled the fighter, the less likely he is to wear a helmet!

Honestly I have about sixty Dire Avengers since i shelved my eldar back in 5th ed. So while the price jump does not affect me, I feel that it is going to run off potential Eldar players, thus once more shoving us back into a rare army. At the price, you might as well buy Dark Eldar warriors and use them as Dire Avengers in a Corsair list.

I bought 10 Dire Avengers yesterday, because they're still the old price. Going from $73 NZD for 10, to $64 NZD for 5.

The Wraith models are awesome and are at a great price, I thought they'd at least be Terminator prices.

The Wraithknight IMO annoys me, I thought it would be the Eldar riptide.

I like selling Vypers and War Walkers in 3's at a discount.

Overall, I'm kinda surprised they'res not too many new models although they already have tons. It would be pretty cool if they release a second wave.

Well, the Warwalker squadron of 3 was already about 60 Euro before the new release. So its nothing really new.

Frankly, I'd stay away from Iyanden. This army never has been competitive. The new Wraithknight could make the difference though. You could hide behind 3 Wraithknights that could get the job done. With jump packs these monstrosities are rather fast and could reach the enemy front ranks in turn 2 causing havoc. At least this sounds like a plan.

The new Eldar release looks like the worst when compared with recent releases: DA, CSM, Daemons, Tau.

Well, it appears that the new release can be projected to Iyanden which I think is a bit too less.

If I only stuck with competitive choices, I'd have walked away from GW games long ago.

The game is far more fun if you actually try things the internet echo chamber tells you not to.

Well, since I only play RTTs I'm generally ruling out fun level games. I played Iyanden at several occations and I know how it feels playing it.

I guess statlines are the same.

Bladestorm seems to have improved a lot:
Shuriken Catapult 12" S4 AP5 Assault 2, Bladestorm
Shuriken Cannon 24" S6 AP5 Assault 3, Bladestorm

Bladestorm: When a weapon with this special rule rolls a 6 To Wound, the target is wounded automatically and the Wound is resolved at AP2.

Moreover, we may count on new psychic powers.

Does anyone else feel really underwhelmed by this release? If I played elder I'd be extremely annoyed by the lack of kits and the silly restructuring of the dire avengers.

1) ok the wraithknight is cool but its too big next to the revenant titans and they look fast and deadly whereas this thing looks a bit slow and ponderous.

2) the fighter jet thingy is ok to look at but it doesn't blow me away and the "new aspect" is just lazy.

3) a plastic farseer and the other guy are kinda cool but a lot of the existing elder farseer s and warlocks are really cool models so it doesn't feel like anything other than an alternative.

4) Jetbikes omfg these sculpts are nearly older than me, they don't look fast at all and next to the dark eldar ones they look like mobility scooters. What rankles the most however is the fact that jez Goodwin designed an eldar Jetbike alongside the DE ones and they still haven't bloody made it! Anyone who buys that box of three deserves to be ripped off.

5) Eldar aspect warriors positively scream out for shadow warrior treatment, I was hoping to see a multi part plastic box or two for them and am sorely dissapointed.

6) edit: forgot to include wraithguard, think these are the one thing in the release people actually wanted to see, I really like the models barring the axes from the wraithblades, these suffer from wraithknightism and are too chunky and don't feel elegant enough for eldar.

In summary next to the recent releases this one feels a little bit of a non event, if this is the price we pay for seeing a codex or army book every month then I think I'd rather see it go bi monthly or something.

Exactly. This release seems a bit underwhelming. GW necessarily designed a big walker even bigger than the Dreadnight and the Riptide, and some flyers. The craftworld Iyanden will also be pushed but it never interested me much.

Very underwhelmed here... Might be interested in fielding some close-combat wraithguard but probably won't be picking up any of these kits any time soon. Really sad that eldar players have been waiting so long, and this just seems to be a half-assed clone of their other releases. GW has unfortunately gone from a very cool assymetric armies philosphy to an "everyone gets one each of the same troops."
Wraithknight in particular makes no god damned sense. I'd laugh my ass off if i ever saw one fielded
