This thread is getting more interesting then I expected! I thought I'd get one or two comments along the line of "lol wtf", but now we're on page 3 and we're talking about poor Friday decisions AND we seem to have the creator of the blog (or someone very much like him) in the OP actually COMMENTING! He was saying it's a western conceit that white folks thing anime is about them and that white folks are racists for thinking that, along with slavery (which apparently only white folks do) and massacring indigenous populations (again, that's a whites only problem as far as he's concerned).

So I didn't see anyone mocking him for his sentence construction or grammar, but I sure as hell mocked his ludicrous and asinine claim.

Cosplay is basically dressing up. The point of dressing up is to take on a different character to your own.

For centuries, people all over the world have dressed up as fictional characters to take part in parades, pageants and parties. The characters chosen naturally have been ones familiar to their culture. For example, King Edward III dressed up as King Arthur. When I was little, I dressed up as a knight or a cowboy.

Japanese anime and manga have become quite familiar to a western audience in the past 25 years. People enjoyed the characters and made dress-up costumes for them. They have also continued to dress up as western characters.

Westerners have dressed as oriental characters. Japanese people have dressed up as western characters. Women have dressed as men. Men have dressed as women. People have dressed as My Little Ponies. There are asian (i.e. Indian) cosplayers and black cosplayers, who have faced genuine racist comment for dressing as non-black characters...



There is nothing inherently racist in dressing up as someone from a different race.

It is odd that Kajune came to a wargaming website's off topic forum to post strictly about racist westerners.

On a secondary note, ever wonder how Westerners are portrayed as having the same facial and body qualities as Easterners in Anime? Isn't anime almost entirely Utopian in that regard?

Well, in the event that cosplaying anime characters is racist, I am most certainly going to hell.
You see, after attending a Dr. Who themed wedding, I've decided that my own wedding (when/if that ever happens) will be a Pokemon wedding.
My betrothed and I will dress up as trainers. The groomsmen and bridesmaids will all be dressed as different pokemon. Meowth will officiate. We'll keep our rings in pokeballs, then yell "I choose you!" as we put them on each other's fingers. At the end of the ceremony, we'll "blast off" to the reception party.
It's gonna be great, that's right.

And the amount of people who cosplay as COMIC BOOK characters isn't remotely similar to those who cosplay as anime. I've seen people pull off Iron man, Capt America. Hell, even Galactus (3 people stilt walking).

Comics and Anime are a pretty even split in my local, most people I know who actively cosplay do both AND some sci fi costumes on the side.

(I do all three for example)

Yeah, they're racist for dressing like Anime characters. It's called cosplaying. They're also perhaps ashamed of their heritage, because they do this.

Turns out, that if you search "western cosplayers are racist" (which I assume is something along the lines of what Kajune searched) This thread is one of the first results. Apparently, Kajune was zealous enough to make an account for a website dedicated to a hobby he/she probably never heard about and use it solely to make angry comments based on assumptions. Yup...

On a random side note, one place where the West needs to bow to Asian superiority is beer in vending machines. It's complete bull gak I can't grab a brew from the machine if I want one but instead have to track down a booze store and buy a six pack from them.

They have wine from vending machines.

and sake, booze from vending machines in general. It's brilliant. Side note, Japanese whiskey is pretty good.

The man who made that blogpost is really mental. Most stuff he tells is absolutely mental. I mean seriously almost everything the guy says can be disproved.

And asian cosplay can be as mindwreckingly bad as western cosplay.

So, if Killkrazy was not in Japan, or another Asian country, would he be racist for having said collection? Assuming his collection is exclusively Asian girls.
