That was the announcement from Games Workshop Fulchester. They're... not real. They can be real if you truly believe H.B.M.C. Believe with me! unrelated; I really love their site, for things like this <name redacted>: When does the draw take place? Games Workshop: Fulchester We intend to time the draw with the release of the new Sisters of Battle plastics. On Topic: This won't really affect me, because I don't tend to play apocalypse. I think it would almost be better if they let FW push apoc and then they ( GW) could focus on their other releases. Maybe rereleasing Inquisitor? Let's get that rumour going until it becomes a reality!

I still maintain the Lord of Battle can be salvaged. I just want more pics of them Monoliths. I get that the earthquakes in the area where these photos are taken prevent them from being the best quality, but there ars usually more of them.

So what's your guess, will this model be Apocalypse only, or will the next few months be some revolution of 40K where the truly big guys make their appearance in 1500 point games and what not?

Unfortunately this is an area where my own personal wishes (that everything – Apoc units, FW units, and so on – be integrated into the main ruleset) are so strong that I can’t make an objective comment. I don’t think GW will, and I think this Lord of Skullbattlebloodknight will be a super-heavy only useable in big games/ Apoc. I think it would be in GW’s greater interest to have less “silo” like gaming experiences and try to merge them, but we all know it goes with GW and silos: they love the mother fethers, so I think we’re out of luck. I dream for the day when an army with a Baneblade is something no one bats an eyelid at, but that’s a long way off I think. I’d love to be wrong though. As for the Taco Bell article, well, didn't they also have one saying how FW was going to become a normal thing in 6th Ed? That didn't happen now did it?

I love the new megalith. I don't even play 40k anymore but it shows that GW can still build good kits, with good detail instead of just slapping random skulls on it and calling that detail, as well as actually make models that fit in with the rest of the armies aesthetics.
The Bloodknight thing however is the exact opposite. Once again they are completely ignoring the look of the rest of the army and slapping together something big for the sake of having something big. You can't argue the skulls = GWs idea of detail since it is a Khorne unit but the face looks just terrible and it is in no way intimidating. It looks like it would take a lot to kill, but it also looks like it will park in your opponents backfield and shoot you to death which is very un-Khornite. It should look like it is charging forward, not sitting there.

You do know that most Khornate Daemon Engines were or had massive cannons to some degree, right? There's even one called the "Great Cannon of Khorne" which is just a massive gun! Their melee ability mostly consisted of ramming things whilst using a multitude of guns to slaughter anything in range.

It's not that it is armed with a gun, it's that it looks far too static.
I have no problems with guns on Khornite things, but it also has a giant axe and feels like it should be charging in while shooting instead of sitting there.

Maybe it just holds the axe level and spins its torso around 360 degrees? But I agree, it is too static. Like it or hate it, the Helbrute did take the standard Marine Dreadnaught archetype and put some movement into it. It's a shame they couldn't do the same thing here. Of course, that said, we haven't seen what the kit is possible of yet. The Wraithknight has a range of movements, as does the Riptide, and while I don't expect the same level of pose-a-bility (it is on tracks after all), we might get something.

I don't know how to answer that without breaking a rule, so..."Yes."
If you like "stupid" that's fine, but personally I don't think "stupid" is worth shelling out over $100+ for.
Ahtman wrote:I tend to see toys as being something for children to play with, whereas I would not let a child play with these things for a myriad of reasons.
There's actually a whole market of adult toy collectors. Go look at Hot Toys or Sideshow Collectibles for a good example. Really pricey and amazingly detailed, not the kinda thing you would ever buy for a child to play with if you were still sane.
GW doesn't seem to know what the feth it wants to be, either that or it's desperately trying to be all things to all people because it wants money and doesn't know which market to focus their energy on. Hence "We're a toy company, we sell toys to kids, that's why the models look silly! No, we sell works of art to collectors, that's why they're so expensive! No, we're a game company, that's why we charge out the ass for our rules! No, we're a model company, that's why the rules suck and we have no other games!"
Anyway, I acknowledge that the Khorne tank is a throwback to an old model. That said, not every old design is worth revisiting, some old stuff really is just silly and probably better off left in the past. This I feel is probably one of those designs. Maybe if they could have done a better job "re-imagining" that old unit then it wouldn't be so bad, but as it is, it just retains too much of that old silliness for me. Although I remember when the soul grinder came out that I once expressed interest in seeing something like that with tank treads instead of mechanical legs, so it's not like I'm opposed to the concept of a demonic centauroid with a mechanical lower body, but this isn't very well-executed I feel. I don't like how the body just looks like an up-scaled WHF Chaos warrior glued to a tank, that and he has a really goofy head/face. I think I'd like it better if it looked more like a demon melded to the tank, or maybe more robotic with more hydraulics and cables than literally a giant armored knight holding an axe.

The Necron stuff actually looks somewhat interesting, but that Khorne thing...dear god, it looks mind-bogglingly stupid. The Dreadknight may very well be de-throned.

Wow... GW's model is certainly "different"...
Well if the rules are any good, you can always go the scratch built way. Not to bring up an ancient thread, but here's a Banelord of Khorne I did a few years back based on the old Apocalypse Data Sheet.
I had more time on my hands back then, but I'm sure a smaller version could be done more easily.

What are you talking about? There were Epic scale Daemon Engines released for all four powers, although the Khorne ones were first. The Nurgle Plague Tower is the most likely candidate for a dual kit, since it was about the same size as the Lord of Battle and is just a big tower with guns on a wheeled platform. The Contagion Engine was a catapult on a wheeled platform, so that would work too. The Slaanesh Engines were all walkers, and the Tzeentch Engines were all flyers, so they obviously wouldn't be a dual kit with this; is that what you meant by "no similar Daemon Engines?"
I don't think this actually will be a dual kit, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to make a Khorne/Nurgle kit out of this, it would certainly help the sales given how many people use Nurgle CSM armies.

1. The head is terrible. It is ugly and unintimidating. I'd get rid of the headpiece and make the head bigger, give it a proper mouth that doesn't extend all the way up to its nostrils and cast it in two sections so you could have your daemon engine of the god of slaughter rearing its head back and roaring.
2. The pose is terrible. Even if the elbows and shoulders were articulated, the gutcannon probably makes it impossible to give it a proper dynamic pose - chaingun forwards, axe behind, for example.
3. The detailing is poor. Skulls are not a space filler. And I'd make the body more angular than puffy.
