Well I might be wrong on the size of the two templates, might work out the same, just see through blue and flame effect rather than the cold green radar effect of before. Although the new five blast marker is new even if the other two aren't.

Anyway, I was just going to bed and while flicking through the mag, when I spotted something interesting in the digital releases section. Normally a section I skip over as I did earlier today.

It seems other than the Apocalypse book being released in digital this month, there is another much more interesting tome.

Farsight - A codex: Tau Empire Supplement. Looking at the blurb underneath it seems to indicate it is a Tau Iyanden style extra, and once again mentions rules for using with your Tau.

Just thought I'd share that before collapsing for the night.

"That's not an Ork, its a girl.." - Last words of High General Daran Ul'tharem, battle of Ursha VII.

Ooooh

IS Gw doing the same they do with the Codexes release rate?

If it goes on like this maybe everyone will have a Codex Supp quicker that we expected.

Hopefully there'll be a round of Tau short stories to go with the Tau supplement too, like the Eldar one.

Skimming the battle report the Vault's main attack is called 'Sky of falling stars' and seems to hint at meteors pounding the battlefield. One of the new templates is five large sized looking blast markers attached to one another so you can string them out, curl them around to represent a line of explosions. I'm guessing it uses that one. (edit - it does)

LOL! The Rogue Trader era Thudd gun template is baaaaaack....

I wonder if they'll do technomandrites supplement, or a Severed supplement?

That would be awesome.

Why? There're too many rules in the Codexes as it is, and there'd be no point in putting in the rule you need to play - for example - the "Iyanden-history-mission", if you don't put in the missions first.

But they are charging you the price of a whole codex for three pages of rules that could have just been included as a sub chapter of the codex and created more value in that product and help to justify the inflated cost of the hardback books with an incentive that includes two codexes. Now you can pay twice the price to play the sub codex because you need the parent codex in order to play it.

Supplements are certainly too expensive, but them being separate makes sense. That way GW can publish new rules for an army later (perhaps with a bunch of new miniatures) and not everything has to be ready at once. For example if a designer will tomorrow have great idea for new Thousand Sons units or other rules, they don't have to wait for 7th edition CSM codex to publish them.

I'm on the fence about this one. I definitely don't feel like they did the Legions justice when they did that for the Chaos codex. That being said, comparing that Chaos codex to the Space Marine codex, I think that I'd have appreciated my codex to have been significantly beefier in rules content. I certainly don't want to advocate one supplement for each sub-faction, but I think a supplement for all sub-factions would work better, e.g. "Craftworlds Supplement, Exodites Supplement, Traitor Marines Supplement, Legions Supplement", that kind of deal. That would make it more bang-for-buck without them needing to find an extra thirty pages of lore and fluff to accompany two pages of rules.

Kinda off topic (or on topic??), I hope the new apoc book clears up super heavys and ordinance weapons. It seems like they were intended to be able to fire them and other weapons at full BS, but the current ruleset for super heavys makes no mention of firing ordinance and other weapons at full BS....

Maybe I missed it?

Personally, fixing D-weapons is a higher priority. Ordinance and Superheavies is a FAQ/Errata level problem at worst.

Yeah but it still needs attnetion. As it stands you can basically use one useful weapon then everything else is snapshots. What's the point of bringing a titan if you can shoot 1 blast wep?

I'd say that if it also makes print like the Iyanden book, it will strengthen the idea of the 9th edition fantasy rumours.

In general mind, after getting the Iyanden book for my eldest lad, I was content with the book for the masses of background material. The expansion on the houses for example with pattern markings for ten or so Wraithguard was excellent stuff, plus aspect info and so forth.

If this Farsight book is filled with similar bits and pieces I'll be all over it. Typical as well, the lad has Iyanden Eldar as allies for his Tau, which is led by Farsight and he's painting in the enclave colours,

"That's not an Ork, its a girl.." - Last words of High General Daran Ul'tharem, battle of Ursha VII.

Not sure how this is true, you are allowed to nominate a wraithknight as your warlord, but it still is a heavy support FOC choice, so you can anly take 3, just like any other eldar player.

If anything, it's more a ''buy more spiritseers'' book, since you can take 5 per HQ slot.

I've used the book twice so far, and the only thing different from when I was playing with just the codex, is that I use a different warlord table.

The new White Dwarf is available in my local WHSmiths, didn't buy it though, it was full of ads for the new miniatures.

They have a few pages show from the book, but the Necron craft isn't one of them. The Khorne Lord of Battles has tzeentch prefered number of Hull Points, as do Baneblade class tanks by the looks of it (both the Stormlord and Stormsword pages are shown.) Also the Khorne Lord of Battles is triple blessed by Khorne, as if you put three of his unholy number alongside one another, that would be his starting points.

I do find it odd, knowing that the Apoc book was coming out (Removing the Apoc Appendix from IA3-2nd) FW still gave the Tiger Shark 2 SP in the book (Can see in preview page on FW site)

FW will probabbly just do converstions like last time 1SP=3HP

GW makes books to sell models. Making statements like this is just stupid.

The fact that the templates from the previous Apoc rules are now obsolete...severely pisses me off. Seriously GW...go feth yourself. That's one of the cheapest pissant things to pull. At that point...why not make the basic templates a different size as well? A$*holes
