Thanks guys!

The Assassin progresses...

Witch Elf head fits the body, but I want the Admech Ruststalker head:

Minor surgery to match the underside so the head will slot onto the neck:

And in position:

- More GS work required to fix the armoured bra, and the left shoulder pad

Gutrot progressing as well -
- GS work on the skin
- Need to fix the lowest tentacle join
- Added some bulk to the helmet
- Position the main tentacle armour pad as well

- mmm, note to self - remove strap next to the tabard, it's ruining the flow of the model

Merry Christmas all!

That head works surprisingly well gives her a darker vibe, although she does look like she is dancing at the moment

As for Mr Nurgle he has come together really rather splendidly, I was not much of a fan at first but know seeing it evolve it is a rather interesting conversion.

Not sure which bit you mean ruining the flow though, do you mean the belt with the loop hanging down ?

If so I kind of liked it gave a sense of movement.

O yes have a great Christmas mate hopefully more models to amaze me with me

Love the way Gutrot is turning out. He really has the imposing look of a chaos baddy. Very intimidating.

However, I may be on my own for this, but I strongly dislike the new head for the assassin. I don't think it fits the rest of the model at all. Maybe that will change with more bits added, but I would take a second look for maybe a better gas mask head. This one just looks... wrong, (Sorry I can't explain better than that).

Digging all the latest. I like the head for the assassin. Makes me think of Kronen from Hellboy.

- Made some changes to the head, do you like it better now?

youwashock wrote:Digging all the latest. I like the head for the assassin. Makes me think of Kronen from Hellboy.
Thanks youwashock!
- You're the third person to say she looks like Kronen - it wasn't intentional, must have been channeling...

More on the Assassin:
- Front arm with claws - only change made to the claw was reducing the size of the thumb, it was ridiculously huge!

- Went with a gun rather than a sword, so made this from an Empire flintlock - Decided to reduce the barrel down from the plastic one:

- Note the head changes.
- The arms are too long, but I like the weirdness of it

Turned Gutrot's axe into a power axe - with added backswing buzz-saw!

Also got rid of that other ugly head, the one on the right hip, and replaced it with an armour piece - also cut the two straps away, they were interrupting the model's feng shui...

Happy New Year!

Detail work on the crewman:

GS ring collar for the armour:

When it dries I'll scribe a line in the top of ring collar to make it look like an armour/helmet seal:

Detail on the 'breathing system' side of the backpack - got to love those Admech bitz!

And the 'comms system' side - yet to add a small antenna made from some thin wire:

And the back - not sure what all this does yet but I'm sure he needs it!

Thanks for looking!

The RT crewman is looking great. Nice simple change to make gutrots axe a poweraxe, very effective for the overall aesthetic.

A bit of work on the Clockwork Custode - thought I might change out the plain armour forearm for the cool lion face one:

Had to fiddle about with the underside to take the hammer hand:

And done:

Made a small knife (head for comparison) for the Assassin:

Then some meticulous micro-sculpting was required to complete the armour-bra, and added the knife and sheath, and that's about done for the Assassin!

Thanks for looking!

Some minor work on the Clockwork Custode.

Drilled and countersunk a pin-hole in the knee join:

(Note here also the white parts - those are repairs I had to make to the butt plate and belt after some over-exuberant cutting.)

Tiny cog with styrene rod part (shoulder pad for scale):

In place on the knee joint:

And the other leg done:

In other news - I have been painting!

Nothing to show yet - started painting two of the Ordo Xenos femmes, but it appears I have forgotten how to paint and so have stripped two models back after not being happy with the results.

Anyway, thanks for looking!

Finally grabbed a few minutes in the man-cave to work on the Clockwork Custode.

Epoxy 2-part glue to stick two clock-cogs, a metal ball and some plastic tube together:

And inserted in the head:

For multi-media like this - metal, plastic and glass, I use a 2-part epoxy mix - it's 'rapid' drying, which means about 5 minutes before it gels, and a few hours before it's solid.
It's liquid enough for a minute or so to flow like thick superglue - there's a fair bit of clean up required when it's properly dried out, usually I sand the excess dribbles away.

Cheers!

So many great things in this thread. The samurai actually has quite a Jedi vibe in my opinion. The Nurgle guy is my favourite. It makes me want to complete rethink how to to tentacles. I love that they come from more places than just the arm sockets.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

'Unnerving' - Might be the angles? I've turned the body back toward centre more, and lined the eyes up with the front foot - more aggressive that way

And we have PAINT!

Yes, it has finally happened - after a year and a half the brushes are wet again... well, actually, had to go and buy new brushes... and then new paints... but that's all behind us now!

The Clockwork Custode is on the painting table - PIP shot, pre-oil wash:

Switched almost completely to Vallejo paints: Glorious Gold mixed with Armour Brown to get the darker gold, straight Glorious Gold and then Chrome for highlights. Next up he'll get a brown oil wash, this is my quick and dirty method of getting darker shadows and grime - I like using oils for this step because you get a long working time, and if you don't like it, you can just wipe it off and start again.

And - the Sniper all undercoated and ready to go:

You might notice her weapon has been re-vamped a little - extended the forward stock and added a new barrel piece from an Admech gun, retained the hi-tech scope and the cog-mechanism. Her backpack has also been tech-ed up by removing the side pouches and the knife and adding more - you guessed it - Admech bits.

Hopefully this is third time lucky and she won't have to get stripped down again...
