Female Marines, Corrupted Grey Knights or redeemed Chaos Cult Marines. It's not edgy, it's not cool, it's not a unique idea and it makes absolutely no sense given the background, so why does it keep popping up?

You forgot chaos/pysker Tau by the way. 
As for ridiculous units in the game, I'd say the more "wolfy" stuff the space wolves use, especially the wolves they ride on. I'm sorry space wolf fans but I always thought it looked incredibly stupid. The hairstyles they have don't help.
Close second is the blood angel's nipple armor.

They also dual wield wrist mounted stormbolters but instead of bolt shells they fire plasma and have an option for a flamer.

I swear this exists and is in the fluff: Commander Farsight. That guy is way too good in melee and far too old for a Tau. And wears Red. May I present a Khorne Tau?

i dont mind the idea of female space marines, i'm surprised they dont exist in general. but those golden aquila ones are a bit of a joke.
I think the space marine is the most rediculous unit personally. not the concept just the sheer mass numbers of them, makes every other human obsolete. Space marines should just be a unit in the imperial guard army period either that or why dont they just give the space marines everything the guard have.
But more on topic, how about an army of teletubbies that cause love/rage tests in people. On an initiative test a fail = love and the unit cant bring themselves to gun down the helpless tubbies. pass = rage where a unit it so overcome with anger that such a stupid thing exists in the universe it fires 3 times and assaults with + d6+2 attacks at the closest unit.

Well it's been a while since we had the last half-breed abomination.
Tau can't mate with humans, you can't even tell a female Tau apart from a male one, and a guardsman wouldn't be the father. He may betray the Imperium, but he isn't going to get down on some Xeno.
Unless it was an Eldar of course, but they play hard to get as a species.

Be fair, they are only xenophobic if they aren't radical. Some radicals wouldn't flinch to use jokaero et al, just like radicals in other branches don't hesitate to use daemon hosts

I think I might be stealing this from somewhere, but a dreadknight for your dreadknight. Make a titan sized machine where a dreadknight slots in the front, then a grey knight terminator on the front of that.
A Tyranid unit designed to be as cute and unassuming as possible, so that it can sneak into the enemy formation disguised as a local pet animal.
