That first DA list is the very same one I use and have had success with (but I used a plasma pistol rather than a power sword). I even had a batrep of it vs DE. I want to try the second one with black knights and snipers it looks good.

I'm currently looking at the CSM bike squad as those guys will have toughness 6 which will make them very hard to take out.

The second Dark Angels version could be good as well.

An interesting space marines list might be

Simply 1tas

Or stern vets 7 men 5 combi weps which is approx 200 pts
or drop 2 vets and get a razorback.

Some really good thoughts here. The Assault squad could be very interesting I think the sternguard/Razorback combo could be very powerful though.

Thanks both I like the idea of the Eldar and Dark Eldar lists, I never thought to use DE to be honest.

For the Eldar as I don't have the codex yet is the list able to take down a dreadnought?

I'm not too sure about KT rules, but would a henchman army be viable. I've looked at the grey nights codex for rules and the way that I interpreted their rules is that if you don't have an inquisitor in your army they count as an elites slot and if you do have an inquisitor then they don't take up any slots.

I could see it being very fun and fluffy and I would definitely make a kill team like that If it was legal, but I'm not sure. The rules are fuzzy.

A henchman list would go something like
Crusaders x3
DCA x4
Servitors x3 (plasma cannons) (another fuzzy rule set as they can go and mind lock themselves without an inquisitor, but you can't get an inquisitor (?))

The unit still has to be a legal choice, and henchmen aren't a legal choice without an Inquisitor (1 squad per Inq). No HQ, no Inquisitor, no henchmen. :(

Which upsets me because I wanted to do the same thing. Crusaders and Assassins, but backed up by Warriors in my case...

Yeah it is a shame I looked into them as they could have been a good unit but sadly not legal.

I still haven't decided yet what to use but the Nurgle Spawn or bikers does seem the most fun from a modelling perspective.

I'm not quite sure this is true. P90 says, "For each Inquisitor in your army, you may also include a unit of 3-12 henchmen.... This unit does not use up a force organisation slot."
This caveat refers explicitly to "this unit," as in, the unit associated with the Inq, and says nothing about Warbands in general.
The GK FAQ says,
Q: "Taking Inquisitor Coteaz in your force turns Henchmen Warbands into troops choices. Does this mean they take up a force organisation slot and can no longer be taken as an elites choice?"
A: "Yes to both questions."
That FAQ question implies that a Warband CAN be taken as an Elite choice. So there are three options. 1) If there's an Inq, then a single Warband uses no slot. 2) If Coteaz, then up to six Warbands (in a single FOC) which take up Troop slots. 3) If no Inq of any kind, then Warbands take up Elite slots.

The rules state that you may take units listed in your book; this is my permission. Warbands are listed in your book under Elites, with the caveat that they take no slot if there's an Inq, or Troop slots if Coteaz; thus, they can be taken as Elites. The rules do not say that you cannot take a Warband w/o an Inq; there is no restriction on my permission.

Hmm, I never looked at it that way. I don't run any henchmen, (and even if I did, I never leave home without Coteaz so it wouldn't matter) my sole elite choice is a Vindicare Assassin, so it's never come up. I can certainly see where you're coming from though.

I played BA in a KT event with DC, Scouts, and Sternguard but didn't fair too well. My brother dominated the event running DA using an Attack Bike Squad and some heavy weapons. I honestly don't know what the DA codex is like and I couldn't tell you the exact list, I just know nobody had anything that could deal with 2 attack bikes. I think our rules were odd though...you had to have 1 complete squad troops choice up to at least the minimum in the codex then could take anything else as singles but using 1 model from any squad counted as using that force org spot. For instance you could use 1 model all the way up to the max allowed as 1 force org spot. Pretty sure his crew was 5man Marines with a MM and 2 attack bikes with MMs. I at least won best painted so made the event worthwhile..gotta post some pictures. My BA squad was as follows

4 Death Company with Bolters
3 Scouts - 2x Sniper 1x Missile Launcher all with Camo Cloaks
2 Sternguard - 1x Heavy Bolter 1x MultiMelta

My thinking was giving the Scout with ML Stealth, MM got Relentless, and HB got Fleshbane
At the event they ruled that Fleshbane was given to the unit not the weapon so my HB was completely useless

Ah! I got here too late to put in the Dark Eldar comment. The lower the points, the nastier they are. I mean, 200 points of fully decked out footslogging Angels would have no chance against a Raider full of Kabbies with a heavy weapon, racks, flickers, etc. Just fly in circles around them and you've got so much pain going their way.

I just got done with a game with my boy (we played a swap match and he was Dark Eldar, knowing zero about them other than they kill his marines) at 500pts. I played 500pts of Angels. He tabled me.

Hey folks,

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts about what you'd do with an extra 50 points of Kill team possibilities (250, rather than 200) in my thread over here...

One of my kinda nasty ideas with 250 was to run a group of 5 scouts, heavy bolter (probably at least 1 sniper) along with a dreadnought (w/ Assault cannon & TL Autocannon....
