One of those questions in the interview asked will there be a limit on certain classes and the answer was there would be cooldowns.
This question was on my mind a lot when thinking about what the game would be like years down the line and I am a little confused by what the cooldowns would be for as does this imply only certain players will be able to be a captain for a certain amount of time?

No. If I'm not mistaken, anyone who's played Planetside 2 will know what this means. Essentially, for uber-heavy classes/tanks/aircraft, you have a cooldown timer until the next time you can use it. E.g. in PS2, there's a class called a 'max' (power armor thing dude, he/she can take a lot of firepower and dish out a lot too). If you want to use a max, it costs certain infantry points, which are limited and governed by how many provinces/locations your faction owns. You can buy one at any time, provided you have the funds of points (each province has a certain amount of infantry points it earns each player on the team every few minutes, and each team member has their own infantry points), but once you die, there is a timer that counts down until the next time you can play as a max. While you're a max, you can stay a max unless you die. If I'm not mistaken, this is similar to the route miguel and company are going, which is a pretty awesome way to maintain the balance of the game while also rewarding your team for playing well.
Yeah I was thinking that at first with the MAX suits but im not sure if they are asking about the dreadnoughts or perhaps terminator armour or as they say the more powerful classes, does this mean chaplains, captains etc?

I was hoping that they would decide to do something along the lines of this. Its a great way in my opinion to allow players to use all the powerful units they love without unbalancing the game or making weaker units useless.
Also i found that in Planetside 2 having to wait to use units that I preferred made it all that more satisfying when I could finally use them.

It also makes max rushes all the more sweeter
Yo Miguel I haven't gotten the third newsletter to my yahoo account, similar as above
Same for me, no hotmail but guess itll be there soon.
I would imagine that question referred to certain equipment access and not the highest classes thinking about it more. Cooldowns for say dreads like the MAX's are in PS2 would be good. Stops spamming.
Yup. I mean, with their focus on player-led leadership and faction organization, I'd imagine a Captain would just be some player who's respected and has really tricked out wargear. I mean, it could be a class too, but it'd be more about the wargear and ability to lead squads.

This is only to put a small barrier for a player to switch 10 times a day between 2 faction to go sabotage or spy on the other faction. The cool down for the ''switch'' forces a potential Spy to have to work harder and REALLY be a spy and not just an annoying ''switcher'' of loyalty.
Regarding the newsletter, because both Hotmail and Gmail have a very ''mysterious'' spam filter a small % of you dont get it. We are working on the situation but until then I have added the newsletter archives in the webpage.

Miguel
Eternal Crusade Chapter Master (David, your Creative Director has told me not to you the Primach title ESPECIALLY on DakkaDakka since there is only 15 Primach and they are all known in the Lore!!)
Miguel - remember there are two missing Primarchs! Who's to say that you weren't the 2nd or 11th Primarch to be flung through the reaches of space and time to arrive here and give us this awesome game?
And there are 18, but I'm sure you were aiming for the '8' and hit the '5' instead on your numpad

Yup. Abnett introduced it in Legion. Hardcore old-schoolers that I've seen at the BnC hate it, fluff junkies that joined up after Rogue Trader came out like it, or at least are intrigued by it.

Yeah I feel that it's interesting as well. I do have a weak spot for the Alpha Legion though, as it was my first real 40k army (back when they were still a bit more purple-ish).
Btw, in the most recent video with the dev introductions, you could see a black legion chaos marine. I hope that the alpha legion is in there as well! Although I do not think there are a lot of alpha legion sympathisers (at least compared to the night lords for example).
Off topic edit: Wow, I need to post more i just saw when I first registered to the new Dakkadakka site

Haha totally forgot about burna boyz and the like.
Was thinking about what some of the clan choices for orks and the perks of each would be. Obviously evil sunz would have to have slightly faster vehicles. Whats the rich clan? They could have cheaper requisition costs or something.

One of the more refreshing developer interviews I've seen but how much is hype/hope is debatable.
Still unsure of MMOs whether they are RPG/FPS etc again (too many massive flops for me in the past).
Time will tell and all that.....
