lol, love your Slaaneshi appropriate comment. Good call on the Biovore, however if comparing that vs the Skull Cannon i think the Skull Cannon looks better? Thanks for suggestion though, i'll take a closer look to see if there are any cool conversion ideas. Thanks!

Had another game today, vs Space Wolves. Ended up becoming a massive assault brawl with 4-6 units at a time. By the time one unit dies, another wave charges into battle. Epic fun. Daemon gods were on my side for today's warp storm rolls. One turn my unit of seekers became 2++ (with grimoire and the warp storm 10 roll for another +1). What sealed the deal was another epic warp storm roll of 9 (Khornes wrath, str8 ap3 small blast) which was a direct hit on a tightly packed group of grey hunters killing 6 in a shot.

yea but between khorne and slaanesh have always drew my attention even before the release of the new book there is just something about those two deities that you can draw so much inspiration from.

but damn those diaz deamonettes are killer...*prays to the dark gods for his own* doubt it will work but no harm in trying right?

Back from my little hiatus and now its time to paint! Brought my camera to my local store and set up some action shots on my army so far. Enjoy!

Grey Knights what?

The models look a lot better in the terrain. Perhaps i should start bringing my camera with me more often...

Still haven't decided on my skull cannons yet. I'm trying avoid the Khorne model as the motorbike part of it throws my theme way off. not to mention the khorne symbols (these can be covered). Threw some of my ideas into photoshop to see what it looks like. Excuse the rough job i just wanted to visually see things clash together.

One obvious place to start would be the Slaanesh Chariot. I don't mind the model, I like the structure of the frame. but no idea how to add a 'cannon' to it.. i quickly tossed the khorne skull cannon in. Doesn't look THAT bad? Although the metal/machinery might be too much for my tastes.


Here's the Slaanesh Chariot frame with a tyranid cannon for giggles.. (sorry forgot the name, not a tyranid player) I could patch up all the nid-flesh-thingys on the side of the cannon with greenstuff. but it still looks kinda off... Too niddy..


Next ideas are maybe the WoC Hellcannon? At least this thing is chaosy and actually shoots skulls/souls. All i'd need to do is probably use the Slaanesh chariot as bits to replace the fantasy wood/catapult frame with more spikeyness?


Lastly with the latest Dark Elf release perhaps using the Kharibdyss heads as the cannon? This way i don't need to explain why my daemonettes have to operate a cannon, rather just have a beast from the warp and shoot/destroy things. Too bad the hydra is too tall to use as is...


Just sharing my thoughts... I'm a designer by trade so I like to brainstorm visually to generate ideas. No decision yet. Feel free for suggestions or thoughts. I'm liking the hellcannon route or the kharibdyss route, but they need something 'more'...

What is the reasoning behind getting the skull cannon? I think if anything you could use the skull cannon but still, so many skulls is not exactly a Slaanesh thing.

If it were me, and I were set on fashioning as slaaneshi skull cannon, I would go with something involving sound. The weapon profile is nearly identical to the blastmaster weapon, with it's ignores cover, and the dreadskulls bonus for charging units can easily be very fluffy for a slaanesh army (they are knocked back by the sound waves), if you ignore the fact that it is technically a daemon of khorne.

So I would use the chariot as a base, probably use the chariot driver, and just fashion some elaborate-looking horns and musical devices suitable for slaanesh! Probably the plastic horn-type thing the seekers carry is a good place to start... also some organ-shaped stuff like on the backpack of the emperor's children champ

Wow thanks!! That's a really great idea. Never thought about that! Will be a huge conversion piece but could be interesting to even do some kind of Game of Thrones style organ pipe like thing. Kind of like a Slaaneshi blue man group

The reasoning for the skull cannons is more for options/utility in games. I find my opponents are bundling up in a tight ball waiting for me to advance and taking as many shots as they can mowing down my units as I try to advance. Once i started playing with Skull Cannons it forces opponent to react with deployment and positioning. It makes them think twice on their gunline knowing that ill be lobbing str8 BS5 large blasts into his blobs. Which then allows me to take advantage of line of sight, less saturated fire, etc for my assault units. End of the day it's a nice 36 inch str8 gun. I've played games where my cannons grabbed me first blood taking out a rhino in turn one since opponent was more worried about my positioning of my other threats. (2 flying princes, scouted fleshhounds, 2 units of seekers, followed by 3 units of daemonettes, and keeper of secrets). Also now they'll have to decide whether to shoot those high str/AP shots at my MC's or cannons.

I like the idea of a slaanesh skull cannon looking like an organ pipe. I have seen some pictures of a slaanesh themed SoB army utilising a chaosyfied exorcist weapon. They just used the standard SoB organ that comes with the model. But it is a big metal piece and rather expecive for just a conversion but it might be a good start and orientation for a scratchbuild.

Yes! I had seen those pics too somewhere. a good place to start for inspiration... also if I were doing organ pipes it is a super easy thing to build, just straight cylinders of various lengths/sizes cut at an angle (you get the plasticard tubes), and you cut the little notch in them at the bottom. Could also melt them slightly at the end with a hot device (soldering iron or hot glue gun) for bizarre bent or warped shapes.

Your army has got alot more nicer the last time I met you with this army in FA (Wanchai) It looks really nice. Keep it up!

Wow, it's been so long!

Been playing around with my other armies and suddenly felt the urge to bring this back to life. Took me a while but finally found the perfect alternate model for a Soulgrinder that feels like it belongs in the Slaanesh world. (I never liked those metal tank legs of the GW soulgrinder).

Anyway, still putting them together but was too excited and snapped a pic to show first. Can't wait to get these guys up and running!

Wow, those demon towers are impressive, where are they from/what are they made of ?
Do you plan on placing people on top ?

Really good idea anyway, they look the part, looking forward to the rest of this project !

Hey man! Thanks. The model is from privateer press, called 'Throne of the everblight' from Hordes. Once I saw it I knew it was perfect to be a soulgrinder! Plus haven't seen many people do that yet.

I will try to put some daemonettes on top to see if it works. Haha looks like a lil platform/stage for them.

If you can get your hands on some Juan Diaz daemonettes, their dancing stances are made for the stage ^^.

I was browsing this because it was on the home page, and was debating if i comment, seeing that all the posts were from 2013 but the blog was too amazing not to say anything!

Tiny bit of progress, just keeping myself accountable =p

Took a while to clean up the mould lines/green stuff joints. Now I can finally paint! Base coating now! Probably work on them one by one...

Started painting the skin! using a glazing/juicing/layering method with Slaanesh grey mixed with a lot of water + a bit of matte medium.

This guy is gonna take forever! lol

Thank you! This is just the first coat, ideally I'll cover it more and less of the dark pink will show. Just gotta work on it slowly though, lots of layers!

This guy has so much detail it's taking a really long time to paint! It's coming together, most of the flesh is done now I gotta paint the green parts/teeth/claws etc... Pretty happy so far!

Very nice update, that was to be expected, but the Raging Heroes Mantis warriors work perfectly with the mounted juan diaz daemonettes.
And having the soulgrinder tower over the battlefield is really awesome !
