So around $200 for 8(?) models.

I don't know if that's worth it, I'll have to think about it.
Then again, nobody said I'd have to get them all.

Video Games, Board Games and Anime are the three pillars that make me who I am.

Update 6: Hordes appearances in the single player campaign!

This game is about to get real!

In under 35 hours, over 5,100 individuals have gathered to successfully fund the WARMACHINE: Tactics Kickstarter, which means about a year from now, we’re all going to be playing this game together.

Wow!

I’m stunned. This has been a wild two days. We simply could never have expected such an incredible turn out of support. We have so much to thank our existing community for— you have been the rocket engine that sent this project into orbit! And we’re ecstatic to see so many new people backing WARMACHINE: Tactics after just hearing about WARMACHINE for the first time!

This is all moving so quickly that I personally haven’t had time to catch my breath. Creating WARMACHINE as a video game has been a dream since the tabletop game was originally conceived, and to know that we are actually going to do it has my mind absolutely spinning over what lies before us in the coming year. My appreciation and adoration for every person who has placed their confidence in us is boundless.

On behalf of Privateer Press and WhiteMoon Dreams, thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you, our amazing backers. Thank you Kickstarter for creating this opportunity for independent creators. Thank you everyone who has endorsed us and helped to spread the word. We cannot wait to honor your support by bringing you the most amazing WARMACHINE experience possible.

Did I mention we’re only on Day 2?

This is where things really get fun…

We have 28 more days left in this campaign, and WARMACHINE: Tactics has unbelievable momentum as awareness for this project continues to snowball. If we can reach the $650,000 mark, we’re adding two entire playable factions to the game in multiplayer — Cryx and The Protectorate of Menoth. After that, we plunge into a quartet of mystery mercenary characters that I know you’re going to be thrilled to see in the game. And right around the corner is a custom coloring system for your squad, some spectacular unique warjacks, and a whole new single-player experience that will let you play two more factions, solo. Then down the road, we’ve got Retribution, Convergence…

It’s because of you that we’ve made it this far and we thank you for this magnificent show of support. There is so much this game can be, let’s keep it going. Tweet it, Facebook it, tell anyone you think has even the slightest appreciation for metal on metal mayhem, and nothing is going to slow this project down.

We have done this as a community. And as a community, we are unstoppable.

With eternal thanks,
Matt Wilson

P.S. HORDES appearance in the single-player campaign? Oh yeah. It’s happening!

So Penny Arcade just did a strip on Warmachine Tactics. Methinks the floodgates are about to open.

Niiiice.

Funded in 36 hours, we'll probably get a fair few stretch goals by the look of it. Come on single player protectorate campaign!

That may be so, but I reckon for some folks, the video game is secondary to the models - especially if they're nice models.
PP may have got this one just right - the video game appeals to some, the models appeal to others.
Something for everyone!

I'm quite firmly in the models camp - the video is a nice distraction, though. It will likely join my Steam collection of video games, which will likely remain untouched until I'm retired .

Just so this isn't missed:

I don't think it'll bump it hugely more, but it will keep the momentum up for a bit longer, pushing us ever higher

Actually, it is. That's why they require you to back the $20 game pledge before allowing you to purchase the models.

Or, you could just read any of the threads on the official board where they say the same thing Ronin did every time someone asks why they have to back the game to get the models.

I hear what you're sayin, brah, but please. The thing wouldn't be funded if they didn't have the models in there as dangling carrots.

They require you to back the $20 game (which is absurdly low by industry pricing standards...) because thats what they're "funding" and its required that the money from the pledges go towards the product that is being funded, per Kickstarter.

But yeah. Let's not pretend the exclusive models don't have a large part in the funding of the game.

First claim: You don't know that. Besides it is IRRELEVANT. The goal of this project is to get enough money to PUBLISH THE GAME.

Second claim: $20 is a medium amount. Warmachine is not going to be a tripple A Call of Duty Game, nor is it a tiny indie game. It's something in the middle and middleranged product usually cost.. something in the middle. Besides this might not actually be the final price! Plus you don't get any kind of CD, DVD, Box, manual etc. Just a download link.

Third claim: That is not the same as saying "this project is all about the miniatures". They are a means, a tool to get to the funding of the video game.

Well, point of fact, yes we do.

The amount of funding that includes the GAME ONLY is a whopping $67K

The amount of funding that includes the GAME and just ONE Mini (like many collectors editions) is jus shy of $100K

So, for people that are "primarily" in it for the PC game, it's a reasonable conclusion that the funding level amounts to, oh, Just over $167K

Additionally, if you ONLY account for pledge levels, the funding is at $515K. That means there is roughly $80K allocated for "extras." What are extras in this instance? Miniatures.

So, I'm sorry, Yes we can ascertain that the game wouldn't be funded if not for the miniatures, you know, since any pledge level that includes more than 1 mini means the backer is paying more for minis than this game.

We'll have to agree to disagree here. AAA titles sell for $60 USD. New indie titles sell for $30-40 in the US. $20 is what the AAA tablet titles like X-Com sell for. IMO it's low for a PC game and costs the same as one of the exclusive miniatures.

Third claim: That is not the same as saying "this project is all about the miniatures". They are a means, a tool to get to the funding of the video game.

And I never said the project was "all about the miniatures." I said the project wouldn't be funded right now if not for the included miniatures. And I'll hold to that claim

Time to agree to disagree, and move on, I think.

Anyway, I'm very excited about the inclusion of Hordes in the single player campaign . Haven't pledged yet, but it makes me hopeful for more Hordes inclusion in further stretch goals... maybe even a trollbloods miniature

I certainly wouldn't complain about that.

I'm presently slated for the $40 for my Cygnar duder, with maybe an added $20 for the Merc dude.

I actually really like the Retribution model, but getting models for another army that I don't already own is a slippery slope to spending money. I already sent my letter of thanks to Privateer for discouraging me from buying Cyriss because of all the lazily designed Vectors, despite how much I like some of the troops/casters, so I don't need to be pushed toward some Khador or Retribution here

Is there any precedent for a "journeyman" style model in any of the hordes armies? I know the trolls have the krielstone which can store fury and Skorne has something similar as a solo (the ugly little frog thing, right?). Hmm...

There are the various character Warlock Minions with the one character Heavy Beast, Wrongeye and Snapjaw, Rorche and Brine, ect. Legion also just got a Lesser Warlock, but she's only allowed to take Lesser Warbeasts.

Legion is going to have the Beast Mistress in a couple of months. She is for all intents and purposes a journeyman warlock equal in every aspect to these.

Except that she can only have the Lesser Warbeasts, where these can have anything.

You really wouldn't want anything but lessers anyway since beasts go wild and dont deactivate (and could be re activated) it gets a little dicey.
