Hello Dakka.
A little bit of background: I've been perusing these forums for some time, and just now decided to make an account. I'm actually fairly new to 40k and wargaming in general - kickstarted the hobby with Necrons this past November-ish, but got bored with painting them. Not wanting to abandon the hobby, and finding the idea of fielding a bunch of bikes interesting, I decided to start up Dark Angels.
I apologize for the image quality/poor lighting in advance. I haven't quite gotten around to building a lightbox yet.
I'm looking to improve upon my techniques, and wanted to see what other people thought. Comments and criticisms are welcome. So bash away, lol.

I like the radar ( or whatever you wanna call it) between the bike handles. Nice job!

Absolutely love the mud on the tires and the hand painting on your radar. Great details.
Not a fan of the purple on the weapons. It's well executed, I just don't like it on Dark Angels. Call me a purist. :-)
Not sure how I feel about the white feathers on the tail riser. They look a bit bland to me, and may be a place to add some color to the back end. Even if that color is purple. ;-P

Thanks, guys. I appreciate it.
Yeah, the purple weapons seem to be hit or miss with people. I just kind of wanted to stray away from the usual red bolters that I normally see.
There's a tiny bit of gray in the feathers, but I think it got washed out in the light. But I do agree, it was one of my areas of concern. I'm still trying to figure out how to paint white so it doesn't look like a chalky mess, haha.

Nice. I'm so torn on the purple. I love the why you've taken something owned to so many people and made it your own. But it is also purple. Overall really cool, and that purple is growing on me.

I think getting good bright whites may be one of the hardest parts of our hobby.
For my part, I use several thin shades of grays leading into a final two or three thin layers of full white. It usually gets the job done, and looks smoother than one thick layer of skull or ceramite.

What size is the melta gun? it looks a bit too small to me.

Yes, I'm starting to notice that. Normally I start with a foundation of gray, then bring it to white. Maybe I need to make the transition more gradual, and use more grays.

I got the melta off of a Dark Vengeance sprue.
And I'm glad the radar inspired you. It wasn't too too difficult to do, either.

I actually really like the purple on the guns, something you don't see often with DA's.
