The Daemon Possessing Fulgrim's Body
|
There was a debate in the annual report thread about how GW had more or less dispensed with creativity and innovation in favour of just churning out safe stuff that they expected to sell.
I have no idea what they're talking about, those Centurions are totally original and haven't just been phoned in at all.

I would like to see the rules for this ASAP.... Just like the helldrake, I bet no one will like these until they see the rules. I personally didn't like the helldrake until I face a two of them on the table... something about the AP 3 template helped me warm up to them... not right then but eventually... I am just trying to be optimistic in order to mask my overall loathing for GW... but maybe they will surprise me again with a not so good looking model with awesome rules... But then again, new does not always equal awesome...
EDIT: On second thought, after seeing a better picture of them (the Imperial Fists ones with helmets) they better have some pretty impressive rules...

EXACTLY like Obliterators/Mutilators, except:
-It's bigger,
-It doesn't get to swap weapon options around every turn,
-It doesn't only use energy based weapons,
-It's a frikkin' exosuit of some kind strapped to the armor of a Marine, not a mutant creature who absorbs weapons into it's body.
Seriously, it's not THAT close.
I'm not saying physically, so the third point is null and void.
I'm saying, they're big, tough models that come in squads of three, with big, heavy weapons, they're infantry, and probably have a 2+ armour save. Even the guy a bit above said 'this is probably where chaos oblits come from'.

It will depend a lot on the rules. Centurions can have all the guns in the world, but I still wouldn't take them if they are T4 2+ and die to a single lascannon. Maybe they'll be T5 and 2 wounds? Either way, they still seem like Ultramarine versions of Obliterators.

That last one's a fake. Look at the base. It's large oval, so that thing would have to be roughly Riptide sized. But you can see the shadow all the way underneath the back foot... meaning THE ENTIRE THING IS BALANCING ON THE OTHER LEG.
The leaning pose would make it extremely easy to snap off the base, and that's assuming it wouldn't topple over all the time.
Try again, Photoshoppers.

Um, the Riptide is glued to the base by only its toes. I say no PS here.

As someone who's tired of the constant whining about new releases, I've got to say that I agree with you. That can't be real. It just can't.
As has been said, the weapon's one half of the FW WW Scorpius. That looks photoshopped to me, mainly because it's just so much worse than the rest of the new models.

How could it be photoshopped? Can you provide the original "robot"?
Can you make things like that from scratch in photohshop?

I like the new centurian models because they have a lot of potential. Paint them black and white, replace the head with a 3rd party stargate looking bird head and then you have the galaxy's most heavily armed penguins waddling across the battlefield to purge the heritics and xenos.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Assuming the blue thing holding a FW Heresy-era missile launcher is a fake, the only other parts I could conceive of coming from other kits are the head (Deimos Predator Turret minus a gun?) and left arm (modified contemptor arm?). In the wake of the Centurions it looks scarily credible.
