For a scary moment I thought that that photo shopped model was a new Tac marine.
What's up with the centurions helmets they look like a cross between a regular and a terminator helmet.

Meh.
Hopefully they don't get rid of the upgrade sprues. Of course I have enough of them that every model in my BT has BT weapons and at least two other BT bits.
It's not that I'm afraid of them removing the upgrade kit, it's that paying SoB-levels for a squad of 10 Marines is rather annoying.

I thought gw couldnt make an uglier model after the storm chicken.
Just imagining a human anatomy inside that centurion makes me cringe.
I´d be embarassed to pain one, not to mention put one on the table. big drills mounted on big powerfists?
Ugliness aside, I cant see the assault versions being usable what so ever, slow, lumbering things only good in melee, yeah fast armies like dark eldar/eldar/bikes are going to get an auto win.
There i sa good reason nobody ever takes the chaos maulers.
These models better get teleport with a 12´assault move afterwards or else they are a dud.
Good rules can make up for ugliness but in this case I see neither.

I think they are...OK, but need some work.
And something that costs as much as these do, in plastic, really shouldn't 'need some work'.
But yeah, that's just...my opinion!

GW makes loads of amazing models. These however are horrible. I'm actually a bit shocked how horrible they are. Marines are their best selling army and a completely new type of marine unit should be a big deal; I'm amazed that they thought these were good.

What!? My opinion isn't fact!?
I don't like the Centurions either. Think about it this way though. They needed new models for Marines. GW isn't putting FW units into their codices anymore so their only option was to create something new. They couldn't just add in new terminators or make Centurions like Terminators because everyone and their mother who owns any sort of SM army has Terminators. If they made the Centurions too similar to Terminators it would be much easier, and cheaper, to simply convert some of those many Terminators that are lying around, since I am sure they will get the nerf bat, into the new shiny Centurions! The solution to that is for GW to make the Centurion unit into models that are too different from Terminators so you really will need to buy the models rather than just convert up or counts as your own. Doesn't mean the models aren't ugly. Oops, I forgot to add imo after that last remark, I just assumed that was obviously an opinion statement.

I'm still waiting for pics of the Shooty-Cents. It might be an improvement.
As for the Assault-Cents: move the drills to the hands, side/shoulder mount the guns, and they'll be vastly improved.

I don't like what I'm seeing so far of the Centurions, but I'll have to see good pictures of them to make a final judgment. If the kit is a little more poseable than it looks, I think it could be good. The bare heads are a definite no-no though.

But are new units really that needed? The Space Marine codex was already pretty solid, units wise. Maybe some more character dreadnoughts (Librarian, Chaplain, etc), possibly Terminators with different heavy weapons (we've already got the plasma cannon and multimelta, so a 'devastator terminator' kit wouldn't have been that weird), or maybe even some Rhino/Land Raider variants such as the Sabre would have been enough. Was it really that necessary to create the Centurions, a totally random unit that can't even walk without falling over?

I'm not crazy about the Centurions at first blush, but good gravy, haven't we been down this path just about every month with grainy 2D pics of 2D publications held at an angle, etc.? Better pics will probably change opinions, and the actual models will probably change even more.

Those centurions are just like.... man, how does this stuff even happen? Don't they have focus groups or something?
On the plus side, I think those giant Centurion drills might be spring loaded, so it will be kinda fun playing with the real shooting action when my mom makes me take a bath.
This is an interesting era in the HHHobby, where people start looking to the third party groups less for lower priced alternatives and more for models that don't look so stupid. The Puppetswar one is better in every way, although we obviously don't know prices yet.
The new tank looks alright though. I'm not crazy about the split guns but it's not a dealbreaker either.
