This sure is a thread with one to two words per post and no justification given for the vast majority of what's being said. That's pretty cool.

It's an apocalypse game and they're shooting at blobs of Warriors? Hilarious.

Yes.
Placing a Baneblade within 24" of my deployment is asking it to be glanced to death by Gauss.
Killing all but 7 of them is just hilarious, especially when 26 get up.
You think they would have learned.. But noooooo, they do the same thing in the next turn.
They also didn't fire a single shot towards my Tesseract Vault until turn 2. Meanwhile he was bombing their entire gunline and using his 6D6-attack to destroy superheavies.
They actually lined up a Leman Russ, a Baneblade and a Land Raider.. That's begging me to throw templates onto it.
I would have done that if he didn't entered the board within charge-range of my Terminators (all with powerfist and FC).
Needless to say my team won with 10-4 points and that's when the QQ started.

You cannot imagine how tired I am of the anti-Cron nonsense, people are even claiming that they are so much worse in Apocalypse then IG.
But it's hard to tell your playgroup that it's not my fault they suck at this game and that they should improve their play, and you can't really yell at them (social rules and more of that gak).
The time QQ-ing is better spent by reading guides on the internet so they learn how to actually counter certain stuff.

This one time I played melee-crons: 2x troops, scarabs, tomb stalker and Lychguard with some some RC-members and Trazyn with overlord. I won against Orks.
Not even 15 minutes later someone accuses it of being a cheesy-list. Yes.. Really..
I always thought men based their opinions on facts and women on feelings, I guess that doesn't include Warhammer.

So my overpowered anything stays on: Necrons.

I agree, while Necrons have a good codex, it is not cheesy in and of itself, it only becomes cheesy when you abuse it. running Warrior blobs and Tomb Stalkers is hardly what I'd call abuse.

You know what really bugs me? When my opponent, before they show up at the FLGS smears themselves in peanut butter and then makes blood sacrifices to Ashterai by slitting the throat of three male chickens and then smears the spatter pattern into the peanut butter to engrave sacred symbols into their chest and upper arms.
I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

"Long ago in a distant land, I, M'kar, the shape-shifting Master of Chaos, unleashed an unspeakable evil! But a foolish Grey Knight warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in space and flung him into the Warp, where my evil is law! Now the fool seeks to return to real-space, and undo the evil that is Chaos!"

I disagree. What does 2009 have to do with anything . Last time I checked just about every NEW codex is done by him, and the fluff get more and more ridiculous. I understand other do sign off, but Matt Ward is still responsible. You can accept that or not, still FACT!!

Matt Ward is the most overrated thing going on over there at GW and in this very thread.

Spacemarines are a distant 2nd

Mostly their pretentious fluff, which doesn't fit 40K very well. Models are overrated too. Rules are crap.

I'm curious, what's wrong with the fluff?

I've always found spacewolves to be silly, and rather like a charicature gone awry.

I also have never been able to understand the obsession with squats that some people maintain,

I'll go with some of the other responses and say Space Marines, particularly Space Wolves, their fluff has been continually deteriorating for a while now sadly.

apparently being written in a manner more akin to that of military history as opposed to a comic book makes it pretentious.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Necrons as a whole. People only think of flyer spam / Wraith spam and, most likely haven't played against (any other) list yet.

And the problem is that no matter what it does, people will complain it's overpowered anyway.

At the moment I am in a game of Apocalypse (day 2 is about to begin in 2 hours).
Someone is already complaining about Necrons, when they haven't even shot down a single of his models.

Furthermore they focused a Baneblade, a Shadowsword and God knows how many Heavy Weapon-teams and Artillery on my 60 Necron Warrior-blob.
Needless to say they killed around 90% of the group, but 50% got back up.
And now Necrons are 'OP' because they don't know how to 'target priority'.

Someone who complains about a lack of balance in Apocalypse should be slapped anyway
