I know! Isn't that the stupidest thing? What's the point of having an air induction scoop if it's facing away from all the air?
Nice work. Like the gearbox/axle addition.
Thanks Dr H!
Isn't obvious? It is a Dune Buggy, they don't want to get sand in the intake
Are you going to use the body of kit?

I hadn't thought of that. That's a good point. But couldn't one put a screen or something on it? I guess air scoops and sand only work with orks.
Are you going to use the body of kit?
Maybe? But the body is really small by comparison to the overlarge engine. Small as the sitting driver small. Ridiculously small. Practically unusable for anything other than the kit itself. The kit doesn’t even have a scale. It's intended for beginners and doesn’t bother with useless things like proper instructions, realism, or properly fitting parts.

Prime black, base coat dark green, block highlight medium green, highlight light green, green inkwash, light green/bone mix extreme highlight. Sometimes I forgo the extreme highlight, but I also always work in batches of 10 or more boys and assembly line them. Automatically Appended Next Post: Newest stormboy.

Thanks for your feedback, guys! Here's more photos of my newest stormboyz. For the first one I had ran out of stormboy rokkit packs because I think I used it to make a unique rokkit launcher for my tankbustas. So I had to convert one using spare bits from a stompa (that I bought essentially for parts) and other odds and ends (the angled claws of a boarding plank, a spare choppa, a flashgits glyph plate, and some thin plasticard). Then I had glued the head on at an angle and couldn't find an arm with a pistol that fit the pose I wanted, so I converted that out of a chimera lasgun ball mount, 2 wheel caps from the old biker models, and a turret from a forgeworld battlefleet gothic orbital defense, plus a spare slugga). And his chainsword arm is a hand swap with a different arm, because I have a whole unit of stormboyz whose identifying characteristic is that they each have a chainsword and there's only so much variety you can get with the same arm.
Each of these 3 stormboyz have at least 1 hand swap conversion, either on their slugga arm or their chainsword arm.
Close up of the cybork arm/hand:
Also, here are 3 Nobz WIP. The pilot-y head came from Kromlech as a free sample tossed in with some ork pirate heads I ordered about a year ago. The nob with the flashgit dakka glyph and face mask in the middle is destined to be my next and last kommando nob, while the other two have not yet earned a specific unit assignment as of yet.
Thanks for looking!

Thanks, Cam. The head is from the new meganobs. I trimmed the horns off because they looked a little too silly. I'm working on a new stormboy nob with custom power klaw. Pics up in a day or two. I'm not sure what head to use for him, though. Might be another flashgit head swap.

A million years later, I finally update this blog with my new WIP stormboy nob. Pinning the chain fingers.
The "pin"
One end is my glue cleaning "tool" and this end is the end I keep trimming off my pins from:
The pin in place on the klaw
The drilled out finger:
Test fitting the chain finger always reveals miniscule gaps:
Once trimmed (by like .1 millimeter), the fingers are glued into place, one at a time:
I also figured that with 2 chainsword fingers, the "thumb" of the klaw would be pretty beaten up:
I also took the opportunity to put my army's personal glyph in place of the usual stormboy nob belly plate:
And the model thus far (one can never have too much chainsawing):
More soon. Thanks for looking! Feedback always welcome.

Good lord, SJM. Do you mean like a chainsaw Rocketeer? I think I might save that idea for another model. This one is already in danger of cutting off his everything at the slightest provocation.

I did some work on more stormboyz. And by work I mean I bought a whole bunch more and barely made a dent in their construction. But, with my tools o' the trade close at hand on my thigh:
I set to work compiling my new hordes:

I have 2 units to make. Well, one to finish and one to make more or less from scratch. The one I have to finish has a theme of "weird" (hence the boy with harpoon arm above), but the other mob has a theme of skulls on chest plates. So, I am left with a lot of very similar chest pieces for the remainder of my other mob. I think there is 8 more boys to build to bring the total mob size up to 30. So I set about making the plates slightly different by carving off the circular bit with the lightning dag on it:

As you can see I've already selected the glyph plate that will replace it (it's from the flashgitz sprue with the extra detail on the back shaved off):

A drop of glue and viola!
As for the other mob, I did similar things to a chest plate (the one with the round plates on it and after trimming away the boney bits:
I glued on the extremely subtle skull icon:
More to come! Thanks for looking and have an awesome day!

I’m always deeply envious of the limitless conversion possibilities of an ork army. You have a ton of amazing work here. And a HUGE number of boys of all types.
The only thing that could make them better would be a lick of paint. If you don’t start now, you won’t be able to finish painting them before the sun grows cold...

Thanks for the feedback, Nevelon! Heh, yeah, painting. The issue with painting is that I have to convert my work space from BUILD to PAINT. I'm only slightly motivated to do that, but I acknowledge the fact that it needs to start happening soon. We'll see how things go. I recently broke the tip of my painting thumb by somehow catching it in my car door. Maybe when it heals I'll switch focus. Thanks again!

Wow, thanks very much, Cam. You flatter me deeply. My patience is mostly forced. I've grown to think and communicate creatively in 3 dimensions (as opposed to drawing where I started out). The more I do it, the easier it becomes. Also, I'm never married to the outcome. Whatever I'm building will become what it becomes.
Thanks again guys! Updates when I regain use of my thumb! Have an awesome day!
