Their DLC prices are just beyond insane. Asking 5€ for 4 new weapons and a few achievements is a blatant rip-off.

I agree, but it's also one of the only mutliplayer games I've found that I've been able to play for more than a month or so. That makes me more inclined to throw money at it.

Yep, that's why we're always waiting for sales before picking them up

Just two more days! Although it most likely will not be on sale this winter sale on Steam.

If previous DLC releases are to go by, the new stuff won't be on sale, the old stuff will be though.

Alrighty, day 2 has been unveiled, with a preview of Clover and her kit, including a new assault rifle, the SA-80 or whatever it's called.

Meet Clover. Born and raised on a housing estate in Northside, Dublin. Hoxton, you have history with her. Why don’t you tell the story…

“She was just a day off the Holyhead ferry when I met her. Already calling herself Clover. The little toe-rag tried to pull the Pigeon Drop on me. Haha! Well, of course, I picked up on that gak right away. But I saw something in her. This cocky bird had some balls, y’know. So I thought, rather than clip her wings, I’d help her fly. Taught her what I knew, like. Proper Fagin to her.

Anyway, long story short, we grifted across the UK, pulled a bunch of heists, and then the little gak ran out on me with a lorry load of Territorial Army L-85’s. Could’ve killed the little fether! But then…Y’know, I thought, she’s gonna do alright. As she drove that lorry away, waving two fingers at me, I was proud of her… In a way. Haha… Good times.”

Clover’s Items
With Clover joining the PAYDAY gang, she brings a couple of trinkets with her that she just couldn’t part with. She comes with her very own mask, rifle and melee weapon. Click the headlines below to learn more.

Clover’s mask represents what Clover both fears and hates most of all – wearing a mask as your normal face. The surgically-shrunken nose, the botox’d lips and the expression of all-consuming vanity and self-obsession – all are symbols of fear and weakness, twisted into a horrifying parody. Clover grew up in a rough house in a rough part of town. Her ancestors were fighters in every generation, and she is fiercely dedicated to her Irish heritage. She wears the clovers for luck, as well as a way to say “I’m Irish, and I’m proud”.

Queen’s Wrath
Clover and Hoxton hijacked a lorry delivering L-85 assault rifles to a Territorial Army depot outside Aldershot, England. Clover drove off with the entire shipment, while leaving her mentor to fight his way out. Hox didn’t really mind – he had taught her well.
This rifle is the last one from that batch. It is powerful, robust and easy to maintain. Clover sold the shipment to Libyan rebels but kept the Wrath – to remind herself of that last job, and her first teacher.

Clover´s Shillelagh
It’s hard to determine the true origins of the shillelagh. How can you pinpoint the first time someone picked up a stout stick and brained someone else with it? And the shillelagh really hasn’t evolved too much beyond that. Some prize blackthorn wood, while some might fill the head with molten lead. Others might bind it with leather straps, or cure it with animal fat. But, at the end of the day, it really is just a bloody heavy stick that cracks skulls.

Burglar
The natural dexterity of the burglar has benefits beyond merely breaking and entering. Being nimble allows the burglar to pick locks, bag bodies and answer pagers faster. They are also harder to hit in combat. They stay alive by staying out of the way.
This physical conditioning also gives burglars a high tolerance to pain, and they are able to shrug off wounds quickly.

Darn. Would have been awesome if they made her look very attractive instead of looking so "edgy". Look handsome, be a total badass. Meh :(

Well, it's not like the guys are exactly the sort of eye popping hotness either. However, she does stand out from the rest with the streaks of painted hair and pierced nose. Also, when she was first previewed a year or so ago by David Goldfarb there was a lot of that criticism abound regarding her not looking stunning enough, or needing bigger boobs and the top of her shirt unbuttoned.

Wait, what? You expect a career criminal to be a supermodel in order for you to like the characte?

The perk deck I'm most interested in, this may be the one I'll need to max out to get the most out of those silent jobs that I'm totally not built for.

You'd be amazed how many people are going to be bothered by this.

Also, why bother with the looks when you're playing a first person shooter? I'm more concerned about her lines, I'm hoping she swears up a storm!

If I had to comment on her appearance, I would just say I think the streaks of red in her hair plus the nose piercing both add some nice character to her.

No, but her current appearance was the most obvious one. Female character in action game, must be edgy and grim. No way an attractive female can be a badass! It's just a pretty clicheed appearance and going for a less obvious appearance would have been a nice surprise. Like her looking like a girl next door - that would have been an actual surprise.

Most of the time female characters in action games are basically supermodels, not "edgy".

She looks like a normal person. Hell, she reminds me of my sister, who is anything but edgy (she has her nose pierced and red streaks in her hair, though her hair's red streaks are more prominent than Clover's, and a little bit of facial resemblance).

Well, maybe the next one will be what the community wants and is screaming for. Then again, every time new DLC is released, be it free or paid, the Payday community becomes hyper-toxic and really shameful.

Like I said, she'll fit right in with the average Joes already in the team, not counting Wick. feth him.

PD2 community hateful? WHAT? I mean, it's not like with every new heist, there's the "OMG NO STEALTH POSSIBLE WTF I WANT MY MONEY BACK YOU FANS!...wait it was free?...STRAWMAN STRAAAAAAAAWMAAAAAAAAAAAAN!" crowd.

Hoxton Breakout is the best mission there is. Fast, easy and high rewards. Whine more!

Exactly!

Same with Shadowraid, a great mission, but only possibly in stealth. Cue the crowds frothing at the mouth for Overkill ruining it for the people who can only do loud missions.

The only thing I'd really like to see / have would be dual skill trees so you could have one for loud and one for stealth missions. HoxHud does something like it, but it basically is re-skilling "plus".

It's something a lot of people bring up, Overkill usually replies along the lines of not wanting to make it too easy for players to adapt to a heist on the fly. You want to do a heist in a certain way, you'll need to respec, which sadly is a costly affair as you don't get everything refunded*.

My own build is very much geared towards loud stuff. I suck at sneaking, but on the bright side I've got a silent drill, but also C4, a saw and when I get to it again, the ICTV. I'm nine times out of ten the spotter / mule when it comes to sneaking. I'm the best at waiting in the sewers and lug the bags to the zipline as they're dropped in front of me.

* Ooh, we may see both a free skill and perk deck respec tomorrow. Perk deck most certainly, maybe they'll also do the skills while they're at it.

Yeah, but I don't get their stance at all. Why would you actively hinder players to have a more enjoyable experience? You would not actively disadvantage any player, but encourage them to try out different builds and shut down the "Kick player because he got no stealth" attitude.

Hey BrookM, just to say as a technician you don't actually need the silent drilling perk. I had it for a long time and when tried without I found no difference. The only time they hear it is if they can see it anyway. Also means that on day three of firestarter if you put the drill on (at the top where the power switch is, not the main drill) and it's loud the guards will one by one go to check it out, and you can kill them easily.

Unless they've changed it in the last patch, but I doubt they have.

Thing is though, if I don't take Silent Drill I can't take the skills on the higher tiers of Technician, I'm not into sentry guns or using trip mines as you know, trip mines. For me the Technician tree is all about drill skills, shaped charges, a buff in armour and if I have the points to spare, a buffed mag capacity.

The entire Tech Tree is all about the Shaped Charges

Same as Mastermind where everyone just gets it for the super-duper-OP shout-to-revive and Fugitive where the last two tiers are awesome and the other tiers are utter trash.

OV really did an extremely poor job at balancing the skill trees.

Actually, I think the best tiers for fugitive are the first two.

Daredevil 1, Thick Skin 2, Run and Gun 1+2, Duck and Cover 1+2. Then there's first aid kits, which are massively superior to doctor's bags...

Low Blow is insanely OP and let's not talk about Akimbo...and Sneaky Bastard. An Akimbo build lets you mow through enemies without any problem and is vastly OP ever since all gun perks apply to Akimbo weapons as well.

Daredevil, Winston Wolfe, Brother's Keeper and Sixth Sense are utterly useless (Daredevil is the most "what...?" talent in the game). Thick Skin is ok-ish, same goes for Run+Gun, Duck and Cover is good but limited to Dodge Builds.

Whether first aid kits are better than Doctor's Bags is up for debate. They don't refill your downs, they just heal you up. Healing up, however, isn't too useful most of the time as you got a Mastermind on your team who immediately gets you back up and just before going into custody, you heal up w/ the Doctor's Bag. They just fit for an Akimbo build because you can quickly leap in cover, heal up and continue unleashing bullet hell upon your unsuspecting foes.

I am currently I-84 and went from Akimbo to MM/Tech, just to be rather disappointed. I am not much more durable with a lot of armor, but much slower and less agile. Not having nigh-infinite endurance is another weak point. I'll most certainly switch back to Akimbo for my II playthrough. It's just hilariously funny to run around like a madman, shooting everything at sight. And while the Thanatos is praised for its anti-Dozer abilities, I don't see it as much of an advantage compared to my Akimbo Berettis that can also take any Dozer down with one Mag. CRITCRITCRITCRITCRIT.

Plus: Akimbo is useful both for stealth and loud (3 concealment!). MM/Tech can only go loud.

I use a dodge build, have crook maxed out, usually wear a light vest. Have 25% base dodge after the vest's reduction, +15% while crouching, +10% if I'm at 20 conceal or lower (which I usually am), so my dodge rate is 50% in most firefights. Combined with Thick Skin and Bulletproof (Technician/Fugitive build), and I'm actually really survivable as well as mobile.

A bit lacking in stealth I suppose, but that's what concealable, silenced weapons are for.

The addition of perk decks and removal of passives from tiers imo has actually neutered the Technician tree. Basically, its all drills, shaped charges, and sentry turrets and unfortunately those three things DO NOT mesh together well at all. Further, it's very hard to do any one of those three without doing a little of the other two, but the other two basically just become wasted points.

Changes to the game have made Shaped Charges less useful than they were at launch. Drilling can be helpful, but the gain you get from the perks is very meh. I can't say I've ever played a game (since I got good at the game that is) and found that not having drill perks was a hindrance to success. Sentry guns still suck unless you blow full points into sentries which is too damn many points. Further, there's very little combat bonus' to Tech now, and those bonus are absolutely necessary in Death Wish. The top teir armor buff is an amazing skill, but without the passives, pouring points into tech just to get that is a complete waste. Might as well just go down the Enforcer line, pick up the saw on you're way, and you both more useful in a fight and have more utility for your team.

Technician worked because it had some of the best passive bonus' in the game, so while you had some skills that weren't very useful to you, you got some things that were quite good. Perk Decks, titan safe's, and sloppy tier organization have gutted technician. It's just not point effeceint anymore to go that far into the tree, as most of the abilities barring the lowest and highest have so little applicability.

The best thing about MM might be Inspire, but on the way to Inspire are some amazing abilities. Turning cops into hostages/pets, great pistol buffs, a host of useful utility skills. Inspire might be the golden egg but there's plenty of helpful stuff on the way up to make it worthwhile. Same with Fugitive, which frankly, the last 2 tiers are SO good that the others could be complete trash and it would still be worth it.
