I would like to see someeone make 3d prints of the uglies, like the Y-TIE, X-ceptor, or the Z-ceptor. I would buy the crap out of those.

yeah,
It's a bit hard to complain when your designs are based on someone elses IP!

If they are casts of your shapways prints you've still made money.
If they are shapeway prints you're still making money! he's just reselling

I might make resin copies of the shuttle when I complete it and sell them.

Panic...

I wasnt complaining :S

yeah,
It would be cool to play againts a bunch of uglys.
I'd have thought the easiest way to make uglies for the game is to buy ships and convert them.
That way the parts match the existing parts perfectly, plus you get dials bases and stems.

Or copy the parts you want with insta mold.

Just copy the stats/points of existing ships and change the photo.
Print off a few cards and go!
It would be a good excuse for mixing imperial and rebels.

This could be a academy tie fighter and scimitar bomber (top row)
rookie xwing and gold ywing (botom row)

I have to say, I have the same shuttle as panic, but in the cheaper white material. So far, I've sculpted up the underside, and given it a base coat, but the more brittle stuff seems to have a much cleaner finish, which I'm jealous of!

Gosric has kindly offered to knock me up a j327 at some point, so if it's economically viable, I'll be getting it in the frosted detail.

there are defiinite ways to avoid the brittleness in the detail materials. From making the part a little thicker (which can only go so far without looking weird) or if the model lends itself to it surface details that have a secondary strengthening function to adding slight reinforcement ridges to gun barrels for instance which do not show noticeably on the model but increase the strength by quite a bit

Anyone know where I can get an appropriately sized Winnebago? Wings on the model are option as I can likely add those myself....

Micromachines?

Hrm...If I still had a working copy of Solidworks, I could've totally CAD'd one up.

I might have found a guy that has 1/72 scale resin kits of Spaceballs Eagle 5. I've emailed him to see if he still has them. If I can get my hands on one I'm planning to use it as a counts as Falcon. Would likely create a custom card for Pilot Lone Star with an ability called "Jammed" making him immune to target lock

Too powerful, at the very least make it "While this ship does not have any stress tokens, it may not be the target of a target lock action".

As for uglies...

The thing I always wondered about them is if their builders (evidently) had access to enough parts to make a tie cockpit with x-wing engines/wings and an x-wing fuselage with tie wings... why not put the tie cockpit with the tie wings and the x-wing fuselage with the x-wing wings and make a whole tie fighter and x-wing...?

I imagine Uglies are made as you get parts, not necessarily making lots of them all at once. So you're making do with the fact that you got an X-wing missing a set wings(say, the left wings are melted/sheared off) and a blown through TIE(shot in the back and the front screen blown out) and thus only the parts for one fighter.

You keep doing that until you have enough for a Flight/Squadron/whatever you need.

You see "patterns/types" because those certain parts are common, not because you're building a certain pattern(excepting the Chir'daki, of course, which are purposefully made to be uniform).

The first post pictures pretty much did it for me.

The troop transports, the cargo containers and the gunboat.

The flashbacks from playing Tie-Fighter were brutal.

Makes me want to create campaigns in X-wing for specific pilot progression.
