Highly likely that the pilot section of the saucer will be removable and that they'll make a pilot section with the human mechanic in it instead, so he can steal martian vehicles during a game,

EDIT: Boom! $300k.

Those stealth Martians are the coolest set I've seen so far. Absolutely love them.

Yeah, they have been showing the pilot seperate, so perhaps he will have to be glued in, but I have gotten the impression that the saucer itself is a single piece kit. I think they're really going more for the lighter board game than the heavier wargame with this.

Two different sculptors worked on the saucers - one does organic stuff the other mechanical stuff so this is why they have been shown separately.

So do we know if it will end up being a single piece or will the pilot be separate?

I heard we'll have separate guns, stand, canopy and pilot. Reason being they want to be able to swap out the guns and pilot. Should all still slot together though.

Anyone got any stats comparing the speed of this to Deadzone?

The extra pledge level seems to bring it much faster than I remember.

Roughly the same as Deadzone so far as far as the total and backer count goes.

Deadzone had a higher daily count, Mars Attacks has much lower daily amounts with huge spikes for day 1 and today. KS backers are pretty heavily clued up at this point when it comes to jumping on board limited stuff as early as possible.

I imagine it'll drop back down to around $5k/day after this weekend, since there's nowhere near enough stuff to fill up $325 of credit yet. The pledges we're getting now are very much an in-advance payment for stretch goals that haven't been unlocked yet.

The new pledge level idea has done so well, I wouldn't be surprised if Mantic come back later on in the campaign with a $500 pledge level for $550 credit + Kickstarter exclusive resin mini for that pledge level only.

Here you go:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/175474205/Deadzone-v-Mars-Attacks

Funding is about on par with Deadzone but the number of backers is significantly lower. It was lagging behind Deadzone until today and the bump today is obviously fairly artificial due to the extra backing level unlocked. Do note that the number of backers hasn't increased as much as the funding, so the majority of the bump today seems to be due to people increasing their pledges, which was expected, rather than new backers tempted by the extra pledge level.

Of course, the point of the extra pledge level was due to Mars Attacks being heavily advertised at Comic Con this weekend, so we're likely to see a huge bump in backers and pledges over the next two days.

The Stealth Martians are fine, but I would have preferred more basic Martians, or US soldiers with other weapon loadouts.

Still hqaven't decided if I'm down for this, but the potential to have a game while screaming "Ack! Ack! Ack!! " is very lulzy.

Hmm... $12 for Martian Dredd.
Was looking forward to that one, but not paying GW prices for it, especially not during a kickstarter.
If that's the discount KS price then it'll probably be $20 or something at retail. :/
Might be extra licensing royalties to pay to Mongoose there.

Have they said what it'll be made from? Metal? Restic? Or the same boardgame plastic as the core box?

Let's be real here - it's not going to be a simple given to sell a rulebook for a kickstarted boardgame, especially with so many extra KS copies floating around. You might be able to sell the topps cards, but again, market flooding so don't expect much for them. I doubt the dice would be worth selling, TBH. They tend to just go into the pile for most of us. So it's far from a guaranteed $20+ back into your pocket.

The way they are handling add ons as credit eaters and not cramming them into the base game (, saucers, stealth and marine martians) I think BotB will be a viable pledge level until the end. If you discount the dice and heroes from the second box game then its fairly even with botb having more pick and choose credit. The double ia has more raw value, but I'd rather have the extra credit in the end.

I'd be expecting £5 or so for the rule book, cards, dice, etc. in total, anything more than that would be a bonus. I have plenty of friends that would pay at least that for it, especially if I offered to add on another set of minis at cost for them to my pledge.

I'm a bit disappointed that the number of backers hasn't increased dramatically with the new stuff, it mostly seems to be people increasing their pledge, that can't be sustainable to hit really big numbers?

Can anyone clarify to me if the martian grunts set contains a freeze ray trooper? Thanks!

Yes it does. 8 grunts, a commander and a freeze ray guy.

Lol, I hope they have that truck in Prime's colors. I wonder if this is going to have the sonic cannon with it or if it'll just be a generic flatbed.

I'm guessing empty flatbed with various weapon options as further stretch goals (and at an additional cost, of course)

35 backers until the civilian set too.

Plus it's the last day of the new pledge level.

I will not be surprised to see upgrade kits for the trucks in the next one or two add ons.

Perhaps a ,50 cal or lash up rocket launcher. However a satellite dish gizmo, ala Earth vs the Flying Saucers mus be the most obvious.

Great possibilities for crossover use in other post apoc games.

Only worry is the size, it is supposed to around 120mm long and around 60mm wide, that doe appear to be roughly two squares on the board - which in itself only 8x8. Going to need a bigger battlefield. For reference the saucers are smaller about 88mm across

Yeah, I'm sure the bigger battlefield thing is more or less sorted though, since Jake will probably have toyed with it during the Deadzone design. I don't know that it's in the main book though, so this may also end up being the first iteration of the DZ/MA multi-mat rules too.

Trying to decide if I'm sold on the truck or not. It has potential as fun for MA, useful as scenery in MA/DZ/Infinity (though a bit old of a style for Infinity, maybe on a lower tech world etc..) and so on. Hrm.

Was going to say that truck could be extremely popular for a lot of games, especially if it's priced competitively.

As GrimDork says thinking of Infinity also (might be OK for a frontier world, Paradiso etc.)

I was thinking you could also construct a plasticard box for the outside of it... make it into a big box truck with a couple of nice adds on the sides and much more LoS blocking

Maybe they'll have a storage compartment as part of the inevitable weapon set? That would be kind of cool having some adds on the side of it to block line of sight.

Dreadball or Deadzone ads maybe?

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

seems like a viable vehicle for rebs or a more frontier ish deadzone world. I think for that alone I want a couple.

It has been easy to resist this KS for a while. But, I made the unfortunate choice of checking in on the stretch goals and saw those trucks.. (looks at $900+ Deadzone pledge, looks at wallet, looks at Mars Attacks KS)...MMMAANNTTICC!!!!
