The stretch goals are loosely related to ability to fund products, but as we saw very obviously with Raging Heroes, it's also used as an incentive to get people to cough up more so there's every chance that they don't need the extra money to fund the bugs/*insert next stretch goal*. They'd also weigh it up against customer expectations and it would be a good PR boost to do it, and maybe a bit of a PR hit to not do it. So while it's not guaranteed or required of them, I don't doubt they'll do it so long as it's still the next stretch goal.

Count me in for more alternate sculpts like that. Can't see me adding more to my pledge at this stage as $335 of rewards is more than enough to fully enjoy Mars Attacks I believe but I'm happy if others pledges result in more lewts for me ; )

Call me crazy - but it seems like this was another day that was a net zero pledge wise.

I find it a bit baffling. The MA stuff seems like some of the best, most consistent stuff Mantic has done. And they seem to have a lot of it produced already and have nicely painted samples and whatnot. It certainly alleviates (at least for me) a lot of the fear of buying stuff sight unseen.

I can't figure out why they're treading water here and not starting to get the big boosts that most Kickstarters get in their last few days.

Prodos Games AVP KS starts Friday. People are talking about bailing from Mars Attacks to do AVP at the end of this topic:

Also, MA is a very niche interest. I think the sculpts/renders are very well done so far, but I have 0 interest in MA. Anything I get will be for other systems. I'm sure there are others who love Mantic stuff, but feel the same way about MA.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Yep, 100%. I've been on an EB2 pledge since day 1, but there's been so very little that's interested me that I've not really been paying any attention. I do like the mat, and I do like the ruined houses terrain, but miniature-wise there's just not that much there for me. I reckon quite a few others are in a similar position and are now dropping out altogether or just dropping their pledge to get the specifics they want.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

There was quite a big bribe to get involved early on and this had two effects, in that it brought some of the late surge forward and also tempted some people who were peripherally interest to get involved early with the knowledge that they could always cancel if the later stuff didn't float their boat. The end total will probably end up close to where it was always going to end up.

Yeah, I'm a bit of a broken record here, but I'm provisionally only in here for the terrain with a repeated hope they'd add the DZ sprues, and $300+ is a big chunk of change. And yeah, AVP doesn't exactly help...

I don't think the DZ sprues will get into this one. They still have Mars Attacks stuff to put into it.

Another thing that will be hurting pledge totals is the fact that Mantic use a pledge manager, and by now everybody involved knows they can add on pretty much anything they want after the campaign, so anything they are unsure of, or if moneys tight there is no incentive to stretch themselves to afford anything.. get it later and rely on others to push the total up

True, although all of Mantic's previous Kickstarters used them, and they've gotten increasingly canny about getting people to pledge more and earlier with this one and Deadzone! I admit I...foolishly bumped up to $400 to get the alternate Rebs commander for Deadzone, and will be doing $350 for the Mars Attacks alt Regent.

I actually think that one of the most major reasons for the late drop was having a time-limited high-value tier. It encouraged people who were not sure about being able to afford or want it to pledge for it anyway, then drop near the end. It also encouraged people squatting on an early bird to pledge for it through an additional account, and then drop the "surplus" pledge when they'd decided at the end.

A confession - I belong to the second category... I'll be buggered if I'm dropping my extra BOTB pledge before the final day though - have to keep some forward momentum going!

True, but if you're calling a spade a spade, it also wasn't a "net zero", it was a pretty significant loss each of the previous 3 days.

I hope it breaks 500K and the bug, but that's certainly not the usual shape of these graphs.

I'd estimate from seeing these things before, but at least a quarter of the EB1's will be camped by people who are undecided, and will fluctuate a lot in the final days.

I'm one of those 2 ($90 WoM) and probably won't keep it, but I'm wanting to wait until at least Saturday to see what happens. I'd probably feel bad dropping it during a run though.

You shouldn't feel bad if the decision makes economic sense for you and your family. The system is set up to encourage early pledges and allows pledgers to back out. There are probably reasons for that.

Update #62 Car Carnage

As we go in to these exciting last 48 hours we’ve continued to improve our front page with a simple new guide that shows you how to pick your pledge - this should help the backers who have been with us all the way pick exactly what they want, and the new backers see what a great deal it is and jump aboard.

We have also got a few cool pledge boosters from our suppliers to let you add a few exciting custom bits to make you games totally unique.

We hope this simple process will help you get you exactly the pledge you want - be it a 1-click bargain or a custom-made package!

New Mini-Stretches

We’ve put in a couple of mini-stretch goals to keep building the momentum. The first of which is the Science Division Unit Commander - we'll upgrade one of the Science Division infantry to this cool new leader figure at $472,500!

At $475,000, we will lock-in the Co-op and Solo rules and the A.I. Deck. After that, as a mini-stretch we’ll upgrade one of the figures in the Novas Vira infantry to have a new Gatling Gun heavy weapon, reverse engineered from Martian Technology at $477,500.

Here’s the first look at this new weapon:

Pretty cool huh?

New sets from Antenociti

We’ve worked with our friends at Antenocitis Workshop to bring you even more scenery for your gaming table – we work with our partners and ask them to create a few special pieces. Check out these crashed car sets!

These are bought from these suppliers because we think you would like them - but there is no stretch goal - so they have to be Pledge Boosters. Although we would love to let you this means that they can’t be included in your credit, but you can add them on to any 1-click pledge, or just add-on as normal.

To finish off the pledge boosters before the weekend - and to show off some nice and shineys as we finish - we’ve also got our last Pledge Booster sets you – some fancy dice in Martian and Human colours!

So, we come in peace!

The front page renovations should make it easier to add new backers as we head into the final weekend, and we hope the pledges offer great value to allow you to pick a 1-click or build your own.

Thank you so much for supporting us this is going to be a great game - made so much better by the support we have gotten. It is going to be exciting on this last leg of the journey and let's see where we get to on Sunday night!

A good update, but I imagine it's still so annoying that you can't pick up the Antenocitis Workshop terrain stuff with the pledge credits (I understand why, but it's just the sort of thing people would want to use the credit for)

The gatling gun render does look good. I still wonder who it is that pledges for normal / non-custom dice at $1 apiece in these campaigns, though!

They are custom - baby seal bones, remember?

Presumably people who want the minimum of faff - they're only going to use them for this game, so chuck them into the same package! Or live in difficult to access areas where it would be handy to get everything courier delivered.

I my opinion the value is here but MA is unfortunately in a fight for the limited gaming dollar with two other good KS's and to be fair Journey of Wrath is stalling as well, as SofB goes from strength to strength. All three will suffer at the hands of AVP but strangely it is MA that might get off the most lightly as it has nearly finished.

The key will be hitting the magic $500k early on in the weekend as the proposed extras do make a big value jump and could start the roll that see it sail well past this.

Me, I was in at the start and will stay in. I loved MA from the first time I bought the cards way back in 1962/3 - especially as my Nan disapproved - and a bit like Robotech have always wanted someone to produce the minis.

Plenty of time left to go, and Mantic has a policy of unlocking stretch goals via pledge manager.

Pretty confident we'll be seeing those bugs.

The cars will be useful for all kinds of modern gaming. I was not going to get anything I could not get with my pledge 'credit' but those are tempting.
