I don't go for branding on anything really.

I don't mind a logo on a TV bevel since it isn't in the way (that said, the monitor I'm looking at now has the samsung logo painted over in black because I found it distracting), but to me, a logo on a gaming mat isn't really the same as that, it's more like an area of dead pixels in the corner of a screen of a new TV in the shape of the manufacturer logo.

When the entire point of purchasing the product and spending the money in the first place is to make the gaming table look a little nicer (all the other stuff you mention only means that it's all the more important not to add other crap like mat logos into the mix :p).. having something that looks not nice (the logo) on there for absolutely zero logical reason gets in the way of the entire point of buying the thing in the first place.

Not all clothing has branding, there's a reason why a lot of smarter (and often more expensive) brands have no visible logo, they're companies that produce a quality product and don't need to rely on walking branding to shift their gak on to customers. I tend to view clothing with large logos as cheap muck not worth buying... same applies to trainers, if you want a good quality walking pair, you don't go for the brand names.

Just good old consumer choice, some people don't mind advertising/branding, others do. Nothing wrong with either opinion.

Does anyone know if there are textured ones available? I have made my own 6x4 board but for a change of scenery this would be awesome if they did textured ones

And that's absolutely fine, and your choice. People are entitled to like different things. I was just questioning what, to me, was some rather odd reasoning for the stated preference.

It's an interesting discussion. How about we make a deal: those who wish their mats without logos - write us an email and let us know you saw this offer on DakkaDakka. We will manufacture mats without logos for the usual RRP price for you. Offer lasts till end of April.

Hopefully all the 'logo-adverse' can take advantage of this offer

(and who knows if they get enough sales maybe it will show them and others that it's a part of the market worth catering for)

That's simply amazing! I'll be sending you a message (I assume at this address: http://www.deepcutstudio.com/contact ) today to place an order.

The only question is, which mat would be best for Firestorm Armada? I'm choosing between these three:

I think the nebula looks the most impressive, but I'm wondering if it might get a bit old for gaming on all the time. It also doesn't seem quite as sharp as the asteroid, although maybe that's just the picture. And the asteroid I could possibly use for normal wargaming, too.

Thoughts? Anyone have pics of any of these three "in the wild"?

the first one looks best as its more generic, am considering getting it for bfg, with nothing but stars in the back ground scenery like gas/dust clouds etc should stand out more?
are there plans for larger mats? would want 8x6 but i could settle for 8x4, mind you 2 4x4 might work

Well, I agree that it's more generic, but I'm leaning towards one of the other two, since I feel like I could get a starfield map anywhere... thanks for the thoughts though, even if you didn't say what I wanted you to

I like bright so go for the nebula if it's only for space based gaming

although if you do want a multi-porpoise mat the asteroid is pretty good too

woah with creases like that I dont think putting them under a heavy, flat board for anything less than a month will make them go away.

You'd think the company would send it rolled up like the other ones, but apparently not?

They are sending them rolled up now, as far as I know?

Also, I emailed you via the website about a nebula mat with no logo, DeepCut

Anyone who was saying they'd instantly order if there was no logo? Now is the time, guys! Vote with your wallet and support a company willing to listen to customer feedback so quickly

Only those who want them... I still want to see someone order one with a logo in the exact center!

Looking forward to getting mine logo-free, thanks again to DeepCut for listening to the feedback and getting at least a few extra orders this month as a result.

I haven't been participating in the discussion, but I'm one of those who would strongly prefer to get mats without a logo. Especially when it comes to about AU$100 for a mat. While I feel no need to justify my preference, I'll go with "I strongly prefer them without visible logos".

So it's a great offer by Deep-Cut, though my funds for the rest of this month are tied up/committed, so I won't be able to afford one. Hopefully they can keep the logo-free mats going as an option for those of us who care going forward, and I'll likely end up getting one or two in the next month or two.

I'll be ordering a logo free one on payday. Well done deep cut studios. Despite all the people that are getting foamy at the mouth because people on the internet have a different preference to them, I hope you make a crapton of sales. Listening to consumer feedback should be rewarded.

That's exactly my take, Eggs... and I voted with my wallet by placing an order . Hope others who preferred the mats this way will, too, and they'll see a little spike in sales for April and know exactly what to attribute it to!

Well, that was fast. I sent them an e-mail literally minutes ago and they already responded. Just sent payment for a logo-less wasteland mat, hopefully with no issues because now I have to go off to work.

For the record, I was just posting my opinion, and wasn't really trying to influence Deep-Cut or any other company, but hopefully it works out in their favor because I was debating getting another gaming mat anyway, and this offer pushed me over the edge. I probably wouldn't have bought one otherwise.

I never said such a thing. You and Alpharius can have all the fun at my expense that you want, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't put words in my mouth.

Also, needless to say I know who I'm going to blame now if this gaming mat isn't absolutely fething amazing.

Wasteland? Nice. We already have pics of the urban one, so please post pics of the wasteland mat once you receive it
