Wow! Blues took down the Florida Panthers 7 to zip!
Saw this in their forums:
From the Litter Box Cats recap:
Defense cannot be optional for the Panthers, who will likely have trouble to keep up with high-scoring teams like the Blues.
o.O
This should be the Blue's mantra:
"Just keep scoring, just keep scoring, just keep scoring...
what do we do? We SCORE!"
Yeah, Florida is still years away from becoming a true contender team. This new division they're in should help bury them the next couple of years, helping them get some good draft picks.
Rough game for Detroit last night, but kinda what I expected. Boston on the tail end of back to backs, and they were well rested. It wasn't going to go any other way.

Oh man, I was at the Blues game on Saturday, and it was great! It certainly got physical towards/during the third period. Florida was starting a fair share of fights. And it was actually my girlfriend's first hockey game! Safe to say she's hooked now!

Awesome!
I miss the game...
Was it that the Panthers are that bad or do we really have a strong offensive team?

So what you're saying is that if I've never been to an NHL game and I'm already a 'fan' there is no hope of turning away from this sport after I attend a game?
Also Sens lost on Saturday In a shootout nonetheless. Oh well, onwards to Wednesday against the Kings.

It looked like the Panthers were exhausted by the end of the game, and were just playing rough. The Blues' offense was looking great.
That franchise has been in a "blame the coach, blame the goalie" rinse-repeat cycle for decades. I know it's hockey and coaches are disposable. But how do you fire a guy 3(!) games into an 82-game season? Why even bother going through an entire off-season with him as the coach if you think you'd fire him after an 0-3 start?
Talk about panicking.

Midday game in Boston today! Big Z has already scored his 5th goal of the season. My heart dropped a bit when I saw Gustavson was a last minute net decision, but he's playing pretty solid so far.
Tied 1-1 at the end of the first. Promising to be a great game.

Wish I can see that game...
Blues are still kicking arse. 4-0 for the first time in history. w00t!
Sens are 1-4, and with the exception of their game against the Ducks they were all 1 goal games and we were even leading heading into the final period. Oh well :-\
It's a late night game against the Coyotes tonight, so I probably won't get to watch but the first period of it. Though I'll still be wearing my jersey.
I'm also sad that I haven't had a chance to watch any of their games this season

Wings and Columbus tonight. Looking forward to this game. A three game win streak would be awesome right now, but it's a back to back game, with back-up goalies in the net for us. Hopefully our offense can keep it up like they have the last couple of games, cause Columbus is pretty well rested.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Looking at the first period summary, I'm almost thinking I should be watching the Blues/Shark game instead right now.

Automatically Appended Next Post: Huh, after those two quick goals in the second I surely thought the Sens would lose, so I went to sleep. I am pleasantly surprised to wake up to a win

Ahtman (or maybe Dogma?) mentioned this last season, and I think he's onto something. St. Louis might be in for the hurt next year when it comes to the Cap.

yeah... that boarding by Lappy was horrendus as the hit was nasty and an unnecessary, dumb move. He's going to miss a ton of games. The Blues never recovered from that.
EDIT: I also blame the ref (not on goal scoring...), that was exhibit A as to what happens when the ref lose control of a game
EDIT 2: Here's the hit:

It was interesting watching Shane Doan go after Kyle Turris like he did in the first period last night... The little kerfluffle in the net was interesting. Granted I didn't really know of the bad blood that Turris caused a few years ago... But man I would not have wanted to be him... especially if he had scored once or twice last night.

Bad officiation wasn't confined just to St. Louis last night. There was a fair share of it in Detroit as well. Columbus got away with a lot, especially a few things they called Detroit on. We still got the win, so I'm not gonna bitch, but Tyutin pulled a very dangerous move that could have caused a major injury to Bertuzzi, and all three ref's eyes were right on it, and no call was made.

Oh... I'm not saying the Blues are unique to that...
But it was appalling how much the Refs lost "control" of the game.
I hope Lappy is suspended at least 10 games... that gak is not needed in this game.

To be fair, it's hard to control a game when something like that happens less than 6 minutes in; especially given St. Louis' stated penchant for psychical play.
Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.

Very true. 3 men blowing whistles is not gonna stop 9 guys who are pissed at each other from going at it. All they can do is let the steam be released, and try to isolate the offenders.

I agree.
While Bertuzzi should have received a lifetime ban from the NHL for the Moore Incident, he should be protected like any other player given that he is on the ice.
