london1662 wrote:@Littletower thanks for the ideas mate, i do need to buy a couple of new things and a soldering iron (model making type) is one and a hot glue gun!..anyone use one? Hot glue guns, I have two: 15 and 40 watts. Main difference is how long you can use it continuously before it cools down and stops melting the glue. Barring a massive terrain project, the small one should do fine, IMHO (There's usually also a difference in the glue stick's length and diameter, the ones for the lesser powered gun being - can you guess? - the smaller ones. I'd check for any differences in availability too, just in case, as not to get stranded with an un-reloadable glue gun. I've also found noticeable differences in the glue´s transparency - in case that is issue - between brands, some dry almost crystal clear, others a fuzzy white. As for the soldering iron, I'd go for an electronics/general purpose one over a modelling tool - those that have "modelling" in their names tend to be more pricy, just because most of the time - pencil style, low/medium power (Up to 30/40 watts), with interchangeable tips: you can either get some with different shapes and double it up as a heat-driven engraving tool, or just file/dremel some tips to your own ends (instantaneous embossed riveting comes to mind, among others). A stand or holder for those is a must too, to keep it safely propped while hot. Edit: Found the link to the recessed heat-engraved rivets, in Camkierhi's Thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/870/486262.page#6843861

I've got a couple of box's of fuel drums, jerry cans and stowage in the post, which i will add, you can see my new weapons..............cannons! on the trailer, added to the flamers that will be going on..................and were ready to go scavenging!........

You know you can really be so annoying at times just an undercoat and it looks much better than my models I swear you could add a few simple touches of colour and scrapes and it would look totally awesome which it aint far off now.
Plus this was a rather toy looking model kit now it actually looks like a proper kit it just amazes me I was not sure if pulling the trailer apart was a good idea now with all the little details it is so right for this
Flat brown would look .........well brown if I used it

cheers @Meph..........when it comes to Post Apoc.............RUST.................RUST..............and more RUST!.............. @Dog cheers mate............i first primed black then hit it with the flat brown leaving a lot of black in the shadows, being a Vallejo model colour i had to thin it about 60% paint 40% thinner, that helped to keep the layers thin and transparent, basically your using the black to darken the thinned brown in places and giving various rust tones, then hitting the center of the panels with a few more layers to build up the brown again, it's a quick 'modulation' technique. whats so simple, it's just one colour (flat brown) and the black primer doing the work. the trailer has really come on well, i had my moments when i thought ..............hmmmmm.. this ain't working?...... a model really comes together when you get that first paint on, when you work in so many different materials you can start to lose the picture!.....................and the plot!..... i like the colour, i might do very little to the cab?.............. cheers AL

Thanks for the break down will have to give it a go although how well it will work with smaller sized vehicles and my painting skills we will see, I know what you mean about all the different elements coming together with a simple coat of paint.
It can become rather disorienting when building and converting things especially if you use several kinds of plastic cards and materials, mind you have done a decent job once again and love the cannons I zoomed in and like the self made carriages/stands.
Now I had an idea as I was looking at the cab I too thought leave it pretty much as badass as it is but maybe if you can pull it off ( challenge ) on the cab door do the remains of a very faded/scratched motif and some paint the last reminisce of mankind so to speak
