My girlfriend relies on her Mewtwo....and it's always a chore knocking that stupid thing out.
I actually had a battle the other night with a friend, and he threw out a Mawile, and I had no idea what that was I lucked out when I finally threw out my Charmeleon.

On a side note... what exactly does the friend safari do? Max ivs in 2 stats always? Sometimes? never? just all around good stats?

In fairness Goodra (and probably other versions of doing this) learn Sludge bomb, that and high dragon defense COULD even the odds a little.
Friend safari gives you 2(or 3) pokemon of a specific type depending on the person. They're guaranteed 2 perfect IV's, occasionally 3, and if i recall if you're on at the same time as the person they come with their hidden abilities.

Close, guaranteed at least 2 perfect IVs (but nothing's stopping you from getting more than 2), and you can get a pokemon's hidden ability. The person being online has nothing to do with it, it's just chance.
What you do get, if the person is online, is access to a third pokemon in the safari.

I thought the third pokemon was linked to the other person being in the post game or not?

They need to come online just once to update their status, but I can confirm you can access all 3 even if the other person is offline (currently Quilladin from an offline friend).

Hmm odd, had a person or two online while checking in the safari and seen nothing like that unless the 3rds rate of showing up is lower (or i'm just unlucky )

When you're picking your safari, look at the icons in the top right corner. It'll show 2-3 icons, either for the pokemon available in the safari, if you've seen them (in that specific safari), or just a grey pokeball, in the event that you haven't. If there's two grey pokeballs/pokemon icons, then that means you only have those two available. If you see a third grey pokeball icon, that means that the third pokemon is now available.
Each pokemon seems to show up at a fairly equal rate to its peers, but the desire sensor will always taunt you.

So, I got a Fennekin in a Wonder Trade, which got me thinking - when can I get a Ditto in X/Y? I want to be able to pump out Squirtles, Chespins, and Torchics to give out to people. Edit: Oh, looks like in the Pokemon Village just before the 8th Gym. Yeesh. That's going to take a while.

I thought they were meant to, the 3rd box is blank on all the current 9 or so zones i have though, including ones who have been online or not. No pokeball of any kind in the 3rd box.

Not till later in the game, Pokemon Village to be exact unless you trade for one.

You know what is the worst part? My favourite three pokemon are: Goodra, Hydreigon, and Reuniclus. I have this odd feeling that one of them isn't friendly and two of them are blobs of slime.... and I want to pet them soooo badly O.O (at least I'm not somebody that likes slugma. Poor slugma lovers....)

Oh and a tip. Super Repels are better than max repels especially since they are auto used up and not forced to scroll through to click them.

When I get the game, I'd love to grab one from you. I'm sure I can find something you want- if you got X then I can get you the Y version exclusives (not ordered yet, but Yveltal and Dragalge are awesome- not to mention Tyranitar).

Wow I typed a response and forgot to explicitly state this xD. Per 5th gen I got max just to scroll less often. With the immediate hey wanna use another one you should always buy super repels as they are the most cost effective.
