For those willing to use true 25mm minis, that are admittedly not sculpted to GW's detail level by a long-shot, I'll start the thread with minis that cost about $2.50 US each.

Probably work

I'm not really impressed, but I could change my mind if I saw one painted.

It's not that they're bad, it's just that I can't really make how what they look like that well.

They're pretty poor. Raging Heroes is supposed to have a space nun Kickstarter sometime next year. That's probably the best bet for proxies.

For a standard sister, you have one standing, one advancing and one kneeling. Even if I liked the quality and different scale, that's not enough to build an army.

Can't say I see them as sisters of battle... They don't look like they'd last more than 10 seconds in a warzone.

Although they aren't exactly an army, I like these 3 from rebel miniatures:

Earth Force Valkyries
http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-51356505839231_2272_78091999

Much more threatening, might work in an inquisitors retinue.

Those are alright, I still don't think they'd work for this purpose tho.

Haha, not too much love for them here then.

I guess looking again, the far left one does look very "doll like."

They are pretty awful minis, i'd rather get some old as sisters off ebay.

The rifle one is awful, it just looks like a lump of metal. Far be it from me to criticize of course, its better than I have managed with my sculpting tool, but I'm not going to pay hard cash for a mini that looks like it was sculpted in the dark by Muhammad Ali while he was still wearing his boxing gloves!

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

The base mins are quite nice, but converting them to hold any sort of bolter etc would be a right pain in the ass...

Are those plastic or metal? I could get behind those if they were plastic...

Ugh sorry OP those look quite bad... they could be a dollar each and legal in GW stores - I still wouldn't consider them. They really are just nuns with guns lol.

Why are the pictures such low quality? It's a shame since these are obviously GW stand-ins.

This company has been around about 20 years or so.
They made StarGrunt (sci-fi skirmish at the platoon/company level) and Dirtside 2 (6mm sci-fi) rules that are widely known among folks outside the GW circle.

They are a garage scale operation that has done quite well esp. recently in the 15mm sci-fi market.

The owner reportedly is doing well enough that the operation of making and selling what people can see clearly is more than enough to occupy his time.

Jon is a great guy and GZG orders get to the states/elsewhere in record time.

No apologies needed or asked for gossipmeng. I know they're not what most GW players would want now. Just putting them up as an option---if nothing else a protest army at events.

I also really like the WarMachine female warriors that are posted in this thread.
Since I'm not a fan of converting metal, though, I'd rather stick to the nuns with guns and have rifles be bolters.

While the irony of his post is pretty obvious, it doesn't mean he's wrong about these figures.

The problem with "alt SoB" is that most people who would buy them still want the alternative models to stick somewhat close to the GW style for SoB. Women soldiers in space aren't the same thing.

"Through the darkness of future past, the magician longs to see.
One chants out between two worlds: Fire, walk with me."
- Twin Peaks
"You listen to me. While I will admit to a certain cynicism, the fact is that I am a naysayer and hatchetman in the fight against violence. I pride myself in taking a punch and I'll gladly take another because I choose to live my life in the company of Gandhi and King. My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method... is love. I love you Sheriff Truman." - Twin Peaks

Didn't say he were wrong.
I also added a smilie, which is universal good sportsmanship language because I thought he was joking (I'm not saying those models are ugly but DANG! those models are ugly!

On a more productive note, here are the Valkeeri.

http://shop.hydraminiatures.com/index.php?cPath=2_49

Better looking but higher priced---while still being much cheaper than SoB models.

These models are a little disappointing. Maybe if I saw one painted...

The Valkeeri are even worse.

From my understanding, they're not going to be very good either. Not that all but a tiny minority of Raging Heroes' stuff would fit very well in to 40k mind you. Too much pinup and cheesecake.

Yeah, you know it's a bit much when you're sculpting stuff for "Daemonettes" to make them a little more modest.

We need a new ground rule for this topic.

1: Ugly-arse, low quality models do NOT qualify as alternates for SoB. Being sculpted like nuns does not grant you a waiver.

Which unfortunately means we're pretty much stuck until Raging Heroes begins production.

And they won't be useful for it either, due to Raging Heroes' style.

Dreamforge will get there sooner. If the style doesn't quite work, it should be pretty easy to put some knightly heads and bits on them. Still, I bet the Black Widows will work well as is.

Or maybe Reaper will get some armored lady Paladins into Bones in this KS.

Seems a little early to judge them - given we haven't even seen concept art yet. And the previews they released the other day of the all girl armies seemed pretty nice, and not very cheesecake (at least for the basic troopers).
